Did anyone else watch the opening ceremony? I thought London created a great show. Far better than I had anticipated. Loved how the Queen arrived in style with Mr Bond. lol Also thought the industrial revolution and the creation of the Olympic rings was spectacular. Plus the amazing line up of music throughout the show.

Should be an interesting 16 days. :-) Good luck to all the athletes!

Sarah :-)

So that's the Olympic games over with. Although there is the Para Olympics to come. I've really enjoyed the games this year and it has been quite uplifting to see the news dominated by such positivity. Seeing great achievements and amazing talents. It has also been good for London to showcase a great city which hopefully will encourage further investment.

I do think sport is very important, especially for children. Not only for fitness but the discipline it creates and the opportunities and confidence that can arise from it. I do hope more investment is placed particularly in poorer areas. Many of the Olympic athletes were educated at private schools. I think a wider variety of sports should be offered to more children without cost barriers in terms of purchasing kit and paying for lessons. Giving children more focus may help reduce the anti social behaviour in these less well off communities.

I know when I start my teaching after the summer, I'm going to start an afterschool club geared in some form of sport.

Yeah I think the UK has done very well this year. Amazing to see Sir Chris Hoy get his sixth gold medal and Andy Murray to beat Federer after his Wimbledon defeat to claim gold.

The Usa and China also doing brilliantly.

Yeah I think the Beijing Olympics is a hard one to beat we didn't have that kind of budget.

Yeah Sir Paul was amazing. I was about to go to bed after the torch was lit as had an exhausting day but as soon as he started singing - "Hey Jude" i had to stay.. hehe

I had applied for tickets for the rowing and opening ceremony but never got them. Mind you I applied for cheap tickets which for the opening ceremony would have meant I was up in the gods. However, I think the atmosphere would have been incredible.

I think they should of done the tickets on a first come first served basis rather than this lotto. Think it has annoyed a lot of people and with companies mass purchasing tickets has resulted in a lot of empty seats.

A friend of mine has been quite lucky to get tickets for a few events. He was at the Volleyball this morning but had to get up at 5:30 am to get there. I've never heard him say anything before about being interested in Volleyball but perhaps its girls playing and he's gone to perve. lol

Anyway I have been watching from the comfort of my home. Kind of makes me want to take up another sport. I already do jogging. Think it would be fun to be part of a rowing club. I know Glasgow University has a team or horse riding. There is a school not to far from where I live. That's why these games are good they seem to inspire people.

Sorry, Sarah.  I pay no attention to the Olympics at all.  Have no interest.  But I hope you enjoy them and that they don't cause London too awfully much trouble--and that everyone stays safe.

Sarah~

Unfortunately I have not been able to watch much of the Olympics.  These are the times when I miss not having a TV hooked up.  I saw a bit of the men's gymnastics and swimming the other evening and as you can imagine...I was cheering for the USA and very proud of our athletes.  I would love, love, love to see some of the equestrian events!

Best wishes to all you Brits....and great job!!  :))  It is a huge logistic undertaking and we will pray that no injuries occur.
