So this has been an interesting week for me. The teaching market has been pretty stiff this last year which resulted in me working in a private nursery. Not quite ideal experience but I love the place, the children, the team. A first class environment and an excellent place to work. I was also on the supply list for teaching but it just wasn't successful. They had the method of sending txts out and it was a case of 200 people jumping to their phones and whoever got there first. I was working so it was rare getting an opportunity. I decided to ask a local primary school if I could do some voluntary work which they are over the moon about. Its an excellent school and they know me. The head teacher seems to have taken me under her wing and more or less told me this is the way in to a job. So no matter what I'm staying there. I'd be so lucky to get an opportunity like that. I was also reinterviewed for supply work again. The council have changed their methods. So I've had a couple of head teachers phone me up offering work opportunities. One I had to decline as it required too much time alongside university. The other I've accepted which is a full day each week and I also get to work as a class teacher in an autism class. Feel so lucky as I've chosen autism as an area for my masters dissertation. So I shall be a busy bee. Voluntary, supply teaching, nursery, university and shall try to make weekends for my lovely boyfriend. Wish I could afford a car as that would be soo useful right now. However, we can't always have it all. Sarah :-)

Thanks fishyme. I guess life has some of the worst turns. All I can do is be there for my dad and try to stay positive for him and my mum. I'm lucky I've got such kind friends, family and neighbours which have meant so much. Sarah

Hey everyone, thanks. I had my first day at the school today and children were lovely. The staff are lovely too so I feel very lucky. So will be kept busy. Have been hit by some really awful news today that has completely destroyed me. I think I may have mentioned briefly in the past that my dad has been ill this last year. He was diagnosed with cancer last November, had a successful opp then chemo. He had a scan this week that shows the cancer has spread and there is nothing more they can do. Its just not fair. He has worked so hard all his life for us and just as he retired he was landed with this. My dad and mum were going to travel the world and now he is not fit to do so. I gave him the biggest cuddle when I got home and told him how much I love him. Just soo gutted about this whole situation.

Working with autistic kids, Sarah? You are very brave, indeed. An incredible challenge for you. I wish you the very best indeed. I'm sure that if you've chosen this path, you'll find a way to do it no matter what. Best of luck, Sarah. And God be with you for sure. These kids need so much help. I'm sure you can be a part of that necessary help.
