With somber hearts our nation approaches the 10th anniversary of the gruesome events heinously befallen us on September 11. Incredible acts of violence filled with such venom of hatred leaving our nation in mourning while at the same time we were forced to face the realization we were not as safe a country as we had once believed. It is in sobering reality we watch videos and recollect all the horrifying moments of that dreadful day. I’ve yet to ask one person that has ever forgotten where they were and what they were doing at the time they found our nation to be under attack. I will certainly never forget my panic of horror as I saw the second plane hit the towers. I recall it seeming like I was watching a bad dream, a nightmare of reality where I could not process what my eyes were seeing as I remained glued to the television in disbelief. There were many lives shattered that day, and I doubt there is one person who has walked away unaffected in some manner by this defiant act of terror. There are many people left with deep rooted scars, either from losing a loved one, or being one of the few who narrowly escaped the clutches of death’s door. But as a nation, we have learned to move forward and rebuild, and as individuals we have all learned to shelter our emotions and cope in our own ways. Admittedly, I find the saddest part in all of this is how everyone “UNITED” during the initial crisis; both politically and personally; but as time has faded the horrific memories; our “acceptance” of one another has dwindled along with it. We have the opportunity to take this evil act and to “learn” and build upon it, or we can allow the bitterness to remain in our hearts seeping bile throughout us drowning us in our own venom. Anger can be a useful tool, but when it creates such a disdain for others and a lack of tolerance, it becomes a noose we place around our own neck. I am not “for” a mosque by “Ground Zero” out of RESPECT for what our nation endured by a specific group of individuals. As a “Christian” I believe in Jesus as our Savior; but as the same “Christian”, I believe if God grants us FREEDOM TO CHOOSE, so should we, respect others right to choose how and who they worship. It is with this same “respect” I am not “for” the 60 Muslims who lost their lives during the attack on 9-11. Somehow I do not believe these individuals who had loved ones waiting at home were any more “willing participants” in this grotesque act of violence any more than anyone else who lost their lives. I do not believe just because a person differs in their belief this makes them evil. I DO however understand why we profile or target specific looks when trying to keep our nation safe. If suddenly 5 foot nothing blondes weighing 100 pounds with green eyes and spit fire attitudes started blowing up buildings, I’d damn sure expect to be stopped at any and all entrances! I feel anyone being “offended” by this profiling need to take a look in the mirror and have a harsh reality check. We have had our retaliation in motion, Bin laden was finally captured and killed, and we have pressed forward in the wake of our nation’s heartache. This is not a “political statement” blog, as it is merely just an expression of one person’s heart who will NEVER forget. Though I have never been to New York, the Pentagon or found myself in a Pennsylvania field, and I fortunately, lost no one dear to me that mind boggling day; but I still felt the heartache wrapped around a nation and wept with the people who lost something precious, along with a country that lost the greatest gifts I feel we can have…. The gifts God grants us though we are unworthy. The gifts of FREEDOM AND SECURITY.

HI there WORKINDREAM... So very nice to see you here!! ;) It was a dreadful day and an amazing day as well... Kind of like in our personal day to day lives.. WE STRUGGLE, WE ENDURE, WE COLLECT OURSELVES IN OUR OWN MANNERS.... AND WE LEARN TO LIVE AGAIN Life ain't always beautiful or easy... It is so profoundly RESPECTED and APPRECIATED that Scotland would have a moment of silence as well... It shows how despite some people's anger... there is always beauty to be found... We truly are surrounded by beautiful people.. even from far away distances! We just have to CHOOSE to see the good while encountering the bad.. To me this is what makes all the difference in people who "live to die" or the others as myself who are "dying to live!" Hope all is well your way! Oh and PS.. YES... I am Hoping 4 LOVE.. in ALL categories... You just keep working on your dream and I'll keep on hoping (in essence IS dreaming.. cuz you gotta have HOPE to dream now doncha!) and we will meet somewhere in the middle!! ;)

Hoping- you are well named. Beautifully written. In Scotland at a charity lunch on sunday we had a moments silence. The horror was indeed remembered and felt again by people the whole world over I'm sure. That we live and learn is part of the Dream. Workingonadream. mx

HI PAT!! THANK YOU.. I just write what my little blonde brain thinks! LOL... Now where the heck you been?? You know Pat.. I have been thinking the same thing about today.. being the 10th anniversary.. Just hadn't said it aloud... And, I come from a long line of military and I absolutely could not agree more.. Regardless of what is going on in mid east.. regardless of what side of the political fence one sits... CUTTING OUR MILITARY WOULD LEAVE US VULNERABLE!! No question about it... MY MAIN MAN MACHAVELLI THANK YOU for your kind words.. and for your patronage... :) I am a strong military supporter.. I wish more people understood the differences between supporting military and supporting what our country does.. They are not the same... They had it confused back in Nam days and many still do.. Cutting military does not mean we won't ever go to war.. It means when the government makes the decision to fight.. we will LOSE... Sad heart today... :( MY PRINCESS DIANA!! Hey girl! I watched the video.. Interesting... Not sure why building collapsed but I am all for getting answers.. There are some things I realize the government can't tell us.. If we are going to "attack" someone.. we don't need it aired on the 6:00 news.. Sucker punches work best! LOL But absolutely, I am all for answers.. KNOWLEDGE IS POWER.. Now do I think so few people could carry out what happened. Yes I do.. I think when carefully orchestrated MUCH DESTRUCTION can happen by so few people... I WANT ANYONE READING TO LISTEN TO ME HERE.. AND I DON'T LIKE GOING POLITICAL.. I AM MORE ABOUT THE HEART... BUT... I want EVERYONE READING to pay close attention here... My ex husband was a Navy Seal in the 80's.. In fact he was the youngest ever accepted at that time.. Being in special forces is NOT EASY... The stories I could share... When he was in TURKEY... they were all instructed NOT to hold the women's babies if they tried to get them to.. WHY? BECAUSE THERE WAS RISK THEY WOULD PLACE BOMBS IN THE BABIES CLOTHING AND BLOW UP THEIR BABY ALONG WITH THE MILITARY MAN... WE ARE NOT DEALING WITH PEOPLE WHO THINK LIKE YOU OR I DO.. YOU MUST REALIZE THIS!! There are some dangerous demons out there who will stop at no cost to get to us.. HATRED spews that viciously.. YES. it seems unbelievable!! BELIEVE IT!! It is a hard thing to wrap around our brains.. true.. but it happens.. Look at how some cultures walk around naked everywhere... (Jeez.. could you imagine!! 67% of Americans are over weight... THIS I do not want to see! LOLOL) But they do so FREELY and OPENLY.. because they were "taught" this from day one.. So it is "natural" for them... You must understand this premise.. HATRED IS A LEARNED BEHAVIOR... Look at EVELYN7's blog and what that man said to her... SOMEBODY TAUGHT THAT MAN TO HATE BLACK PEOPLE! IT WAS A LEARNED RESPONSE FROM SOMEONE WHO WAS SHOWN THAT WAS PERMISSIBLE AND DESIRED BEHAVIOR! This is same difference of what we deal with many times when our military gets shipped abroad.. only it is on a much deeper level of hatred and anger... TODAY IS NOT A POLITICAL DAY.. TODAY is a day to MOURN with and EMBRACE our fellow man and to THANK the ones who assisted in saving the lives which were saved... GOD BLESS US ALL AND GOD BLESS AMERICA!!

Beautifully written blog, Hoping. Thank you so much. One other thing we can do: We can in 2012 vote in reps and senators who believe in maintaining a strong national defense. I had little time to listen to news today, but I did catch a blurb somewhere that Obama wants to cut back on funding for the military and our defense. STUPID MOVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If anyone here thinks that a weak military is a GOOD thing for our country, I suggest they read American history. Start with what happened during our Revolution. So many of us are on pins and needles about what might happen tommorrow, 9/11/2010, the 10 year anniversary of the attack on our shores by terrorists. Heck, I'm not even sure what to say here. I've become too emotional writing this. Don't even know what I want or need to say other than God bless the USA, keep us safe, and grant us the glories we are surely due for our forefathers having created the free-est, sanest, most sensible, most equitable nation ever to have existed on earth. We're not perfect by any means. But, according to our Constitution, we are by far the best nation to have ever existed. God bless all those still grieving over their losses on 90/11. God bless all those who aided the sick and wounded and mourning. God bless all of us who still believe in the strong, mighty, freedom-bound, democratic republic our forefathers envisioned. May all others go to........

Hoping There is little I could add to your words here. And as a former combat veteran who was willing to make the ultimate sacrifice for his country. I am grateful and aprreciative for the freedoms I have, they are worth fighting for. Your words are a reminder of the price we pay each day as our men and women who are in harms way on our behalf. Freedom is never free. May God bless our brave soliders, and may he bless us all.

Quoting Hope: We have the opportunity to take this evil act and to “learn” and build upon it, or we can allow the bitterness to remain in our hearts seeping bile throughout us drowning us in our own venom. Anger can be a useful tool, but when it creates such a disdain for others and a lack of tolerance, it becomes a noose we place around our own neck. Indeed…”anger can be a useful tool”. You don’t even know how true your statement is. Anger (and fear) can be used by powerful interest groups to upset the masses… so much so…as to not even question the forfeiture of our civil rights to privacy, freedom to question what our government is doing, access billions of dollars to attack countries that had nothing to do with the events on 9/11 and spill the blood of thousands of soldiers and innocent civilians. Did you know that a third building came down on 9/11? WTC building # 7 was a 47 story steel skyscraper that was not hit by a plane, and yet 6 hours after the attack it too fell like a pancake on 9/11. Does anyone know why? Many professionals are questioning. Specifically a group of 1500 Architects and Engineers say that office fires just could not have done this and are asking for a new…and TRULY independent investigation of what happened on 9/11. The question being, could 19 young Saudi men with box cutters really accomplish this alone? Since we the people are making all the sacrifice….our blood…our treasure…in memory of all the people that burned to death…jumped to their death….the first responders that have suffered and died since that fateful day….perhaps it is time to circle back around and re-examine in the light of critical thinking. We deserve the right to ask questions….and to get answers. What is the saying? Follow the money. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KMK_ULz436k&feature=related
