When I was young, I have never dream of dating a foreigner. I grew up in an all Chinese family, traditional. I was always very proud of me being Chinese. We've got a lot of culture, history and all that.

And I somehow believe that I should date and marry someone that's also Chinese.

When I went to the States at 16, the thought of dating a non Chinese Amercian had rarely crossed my mind. Nor did I find them particularly attractive at the moment ( I also wasn't that much of a looker at that age. Chinese are late bloomers. We are awful looking when we were teenagers.)

the whole time I was in the states, only dated Asian guys. It was when I went back to hong Kong, I started to see western guys. I remmeber the first time I went out with this gorgeous american lawyer, we were walking on the street, and we ran into a friend of mine, I couldn't threw myself across to the other side of the street faster!!! hahaha

But then, afterwards, somehow the western guys started to appeal to me more and more. To a point, I married one and now have a gorgeous boy. Simply the BEST looking baby ever. Ever since he was born I got calls from magazines and commercials wanting to have him.

I look at the kids at my son's nursery. There are a lot of mix kids. Some asian/caucasian mix, some black white mix, some black asian. You name it, they got it. (it's an international school). And they are generally better looking, healthier, with fewer genetic diseases, fewer allegies.

It really got me wonder. Maybe that's how our future human being should do and God intended it that way. Maybe, a 100 years later, there won't be black people, white people, asian .. (well expect maybe the arabs.. ), we will all be one united color. Beige. and everyone just get along.

What you think? crazy thinking?

Interesting topic Blue. Genes vs Culture. Genes: In racehorses when you line breed too heavily (concentrate the gene pool), the product eventually becomes weakened. The bones in the legs thin, the joints become susceptible to injury and many times the horse's mind just becomes silly/stupid. Breeders occasionally out-cross in order to instill gene pool 'vigor'. This is a well known breeding technique that is known to produce some outstanding performers. Culture: This can be a far more challenging situation. When two individuals come from different backgrounds, there may be quite different value systems. It takes much more 'give' from both sides to ensure that the other's needs/cares are being addressed in the realationship. Some of the simplest things can make the other feel disinfranchised. For example: I had a gf who was hispanic/married to a non-hispanic. When they would get together with her family, they would speak spanish, laugh and talk about things that were funny to them. He felt left out and didn't enjoy these get togethers. A great deal of tolerance and empathy are required in these types of relationships...and may be insurmountable in some cases.

"Variety is the spice of life" I like things how they are now. So many beautiful women with so many different looks...I imagine, I would get tired of looking at women that all look the same. I like to be surprised. Of course even if all races were combined, every now and then we would see a truly unique child born due to some ancient gene popping up.

Quoting Curious2078:

Actually, Blue, I don't think it's crazy thinking at all. Refreshing the gene pool always results in healthier offspring. Well, most always. As for winding up with one "beige" race, all of us mixed together [excepting Arabs, as you say, of course, or more to the point, Islamic madmen]could very well be the plan. A thousand years from now that could be reality. Or 2 or 3 thousand years from now. Afterall, it takes only seconds for disparate races to combine their genes. But it takes nearly forever for disparate cultures to meld together harmoniously.

At the rate we are going, I don't believe we will last another 2 or 3 thousand years. This is a touchy subject...so I won't touch it. Although, I will say that I like and respect Asian people along with many other races. But there are a few ethnicity's that I have a problem with...but I judge people on a individual bases. I find that is the fairest and best way.

Yes dear, you got my point. curious 2078. I am a bit worried that I am too "forward" thinking than everyone else's taste. I kind of lost touch with how teh aermicans are like these days as I haven't been back for almost 10 years.

But from what I can remember, americans are liberal people, and welcome new ideas, but not necessarily agree with it.

to  be honest, I miss the states. I miss the days when I drive my protegy and run wide in the inner state highways. i miss teh states. so much
