age is not a number .its how u carry yourself with class .buity comes within u young old it does not matter, .also i believe in humor .and to tell jokes, laughter is great so no matter what we tend to joke and to know class is important and other people tend to take things the wrong way .it all depends on the person for me im easy going and being yourself is buitiful and sense of humor is ok but also know that people .women esspecially are all flowers ,so class is important and respect too,

Seriously, Timber, (you do understand seriously, yes?), it's no more than you expect from us, now is it? Clean teeth, fresh breath, integrity, and fresh clean smell - or to once again quote GentlyWoman - the scent of a woman (who has showered).

NGL, Thank you for the welcome, although I must admit I have been here before, back when you were using the longer version of NGL I believe.

I want to honor your reply because you actually read a blog prior to responding!! Also, because you add a female response to what both NGL and Timber have described...that is, that sometimes we issue a compliment, or a "thank you very much" for same, and have still experienced rude responses. It goes both ways, and sometimes, very early, there is an impasse between a prospective pair. These are ok, as far as I'm concerned, when considering love ever after. what isn't ok for me is the callous way we behave to one another, considering that we all humans, most of us, seek the same things. This callousness seems to be, in my experience, much easier to pull off on the internet, where your friendships and reputations do not intersect with your chosen personnae.

Eva,

I can always count on you. you have once again nailed it. " when considering love ever after. what isn't ok for me is the callous way we behave to one another, considering that we all humans, most of us, seek the same things." That is exactly how I feel. I say it all the time, in my personal and professional life, "from one human being to another, how could you treat someone that way or talk to them that way" I think in someways we have lost alot of compassion in our lives.

"The grass is always greener...." is a concept we have to deal with in life. Internet dating offers so many options - so many green pastures - that it is difficult for any of us to catch a break. When a "no thank you" has been my response, I have tried a few different approaches. Often times, I'll get a reply criticizing or attacking me and my choice. Sometimes, I will get a lovely response thanking me for my reply and wishing me well. I just never know which to expect. As for communicating with someone, I have tried cute, funny, serious, a comment on a photo, a comment on something written in the profile. Seldom does it go beyond a few emails. Sometimes it goes as far a phone calls. There have been times that I have gone on a date (or dates). It is when you spend some time together that you discover if you enjoy being with this person. Even so, he may decide he doesn't feel the same way about spending time with you. Or, you may discover that this is not someone you want to spend more time with because - he doesn't think taking things that don't belong to him should be considered theft, his breath is so bad that even the other side of the table wasn't far enough away, when he gets angry he says whatever he thinks will hurt the most. Still, to quote GentlyWoman, I "want and hope, dream and pursue".

Sweet, first of all,, welcome to the Blogs.

I agree totally with your grass is always greener theory. i believe I mentioned in another post, that maybe we have "to many" options.

I believe you when you say, you've gotten attacking replies when you wrote a polite no thanks, what I can't believe is that a "Man" would do that, it is totally uncalled for,but I guess when a guy gets his ego kicked a little, it can turn people in idiots.

Meeting, Iget that part of the the Internet process, it's kind of a gamble or shot in the dark,, but gosh we have to see if there is going to be a spark or not. If there isn't a spark, for me anyhow, it's cool,, I just enjoy meeting people and will make the best of the current situation and I always carry mints !  ;)

thanks for your reply, I appreciate you taking the time.

GentlyWoman, Yes, I did read the blog. This issue is one that I feel is a reflection of what we see in our "real" lives. Common courtesies don't seem to be quite so common anymore. This venue creates a fertile ground for such behavior and perpetuates it. IMHO, we are much less likely to be rude, condescending, hurtful, etc. if we are witness to the results of those words and actions. Online, we can remain totally anonymous and oblivious to any pain. Sometimes, we cause that pain simply by being unclear or abrupt. Since we are not witness to the reaction of the other party, we may not realize that we were misunderstood. It takes much more effort to make ourselves clearly understood when we have only words printed on a screen. Perhaps it is laziness. I often get emails with the subject “Hi”. The message? “Hi”. Ah, well, I am still here and trying.

Hey hey hey, ol' John responded to you...he was coming up to see ya till they killed him!!!! Haha!

I loved old John, Timbo, but not for a romantic partner. Old John was far too dangerous and self-destructive for me. I'm looking for some peace in my life. Time now to find gazing at a sky full of stars for an hour or so a very exciting event. Time to spend an hour or two a day watching the grass grow, or the paint dry, or the kids play in the park across the street--time to find very unexciting timnes very exciting and enjoyable.

GENTLYWOMAN says: ""@ Timber: Lie down with dogs, wake up with fleas.""

While usually true; I have seen situations when it's the dog that wakes up with the fleas as well as with some other unwanted critters...

What's next??? Can you imagine 3D blogging??? You can be sitting at your computer screen and get smacked in the eye by a TRIPLE D blogger without even breaking your glasses. LOL...

OMG. Converserly, we women could get smacked in the eye by a flasher's phallic fallacy. Too funny a notion. Having to deal with the idiocryncracies of the internet as they currently exist is difficult enough. OMG LOLOLOL

Arizona,

I completely understand both you and Pat. don't you find it even a little bit interesting why that is ?

But, just so you understand it goes both ways. 99% of the women I send emails to whether it be an introduction or just a very pleasant compliment that I read their profile and it sounds very nice or that their pictures are beautiful,,happy birthday if it's that little cake on their profile,, whatever it may be,, you have known me long enough to know, I'm never mean spirited or nasty in anyway,, and I get pretty much nada, zip zero replies. I find that interesting ? Most don't even take the time to say, Thanks ! again, interesting to me,, wonder why ?

But I'm still having fun here   !  :)

I have to agree with Pat.  97% of the winks I have received have been scammers, and the other 3% never went past a couple of e-mails.

Distance is a bit of an issue when push comes to shove, and most of the men I think are interesting and have more than 1 short para in their profile, whom I have written to, do not respond.  I try not to judge anyone until after we've met, but that can be difficult when you don't get to meet anyone....LOL!  Leaves me to believe that everyone is being somewhat judgemental even if they say they are not.

Chemistry is still the tie.  You would not date someone you had no chemistry with even if they were the nicest person on earth!  Like finding a needle in a haystack.....someday soon.....I'm going to find it....if not here then somewhere.....LOL!

GentlyWomen, how the heck is that blasphemy?????  NLG, why should that require a bad response from Old women? I just do not get it????  Come on now, it's an analogy and thats it...many women DO NEED smellin salts so do many men, I'm just speaking 'bout woman cause I'm a MAN, MAN!  SO, stop the petty nonsense!(and wag yur tails!)  No need for conflict!!!!

Timber,

You see, thats the difference,, I know most of them and how they will re-act to your statement,, and they don't know you.

and to clear something up, I didn't call them Old women !   LOL
