I was talking with my daughter and her friends today. One of them asked me about the weird life I have and what is one of the strangest things I have ever done.

I have MANY to choose from,,but I think this one takes it......

While in Bali, I scratched the tummy of a wild male indonesian fruit bat.Saw it hanging in a bush, walked right up to it and did that. He liked it !

I think that's wonderful and hysterical.  I wish I could have been so original on my many road trips to and from Florida!  Thanks for the laugh!

I was partying and had a little too much to drink. At a stop light I freaked out some people by licking my window. I don't remember it but my friends keep telling me the story.

well, that is odd. Doesnt anyone " moon " anymore ?? lol

Eva lives about 60 miles from me...I DO think we could persuade her to join us.

So I dont give you "Me too" much credence....you can GET dates,,you just dont want to ...lol

I've been thinking about this for days on end now....  I think the weirdest thing I've ever done is the most felonious thing I've ever done---which isn't weird at all.

Leaving Miami back in the early 1960's.  In a Volkswaken bug.  With no key--I lost it in the ocean when it fell out of my bra....  We used a church key to get it started....you could do that back then....

We--my best friend and I at the time---felt a strong need to make a STATEMENT!!!! on leaving Fla.   So, as we started up [north] on Biscayne Blvd. in Miami Beach to drive home to NY State in a little over 24 hours....our goal....we decided we needed to do something spectacular.  So.....in the dark of night, we took a dip in every single motel pool there was along Biscayne Blvd until we were done with Miami Beach.

I no longer remember how many swimming pools that was....but, just for fun [and very stupid fun it was....but we were all of 19 years old] we left an empty Budweiser can at the side of every pool we swam through.  And we swam through every swimming pool there was on Biscayne Blvd in those days.  ]

I still don't know how the hell we got away with it....but we did.  And, soon after that, we were in south Georgia....where we figured we were safe....and we were....

Nothing much GRAND about that "accomplishment," but it is the stupidest/wierdest thing I can think of ever having done.....

Pat

Guess I'm a pretty boring character....but that's it....

Pat

That sounds like a fun thing to cook up and do , Pat. We all should have such worthy goals !

Your comments do not dimish from my experience.  30 years ago, as a 20 year old on vacation in OC MD the last thing on my mind was what the future would hold for animal rights.  Things change over time.  Sometimes for the better and sometimes for the worse.

To think 70 years ago and dog fights were more common and part of culture in rural America.  Smoking was seen as glamorous.  Fur coats were for the affluent and wealthy.  Women by and large did not work outside of the house and raised their children as men financially supported their family.  Divorce was almost zero.  Thank goodness society has prioritized animal rights over family values.  With the popularity of Sushi increasing, will a new activist group be formed?  10 or 20 years from now, what will be seen as degrading.....lol maybe it will be Internet dating or blogging....Yikes....G

Not sure about that sushi thing, George.  Hell....I'm so conflicted....I hunt small/medium game [white tail deer and bear] and yet I have trouble putting a nightcrawler worm on a hook to go fishing--which is why I fly fish only....

So....what the hell do I know!!!!  I'm still too damn conflicted.....

Pat

It is not what you do once in a while. It is what you do day in and day out that makes a difference.

speaking of Barracudas,,,that same reef trip when I almost ran into the shark- I also dang near ran into a resting barracuda " asleep" in this a little " riff valley" in the reef where the current was very strong.

That thing was HUGE ! Bigger than I am ! ad let me tell you,,it had enormous teeth sticking out of its mouth ! I was more concerned about the barra than I was the shark.....barras usually hangout in packs and didnt see any of its buddies.

E...a barracuda was a car that was popular back int e 60 and 70's. Typically called a " muscle car"...big engine that could go FAST !

Thank you, Shaz for the explanation: I had no idea! :)  I thought that Bill was just making a joke, since the conversaion mainly involved sea animals! :)
