Lookin At Lucky has become the favorite after an injury caused to be scratched. A guy I know co-owns him. He hangs out in the same place I do. He is a really nice guy. He actually bought the Jaimster and I dinner a couple of weeks ago. Of course he can afford to. Bob Baffert the trainer and Garrett Gomez the jockey are also from Tucson. It's a pretty big deal around here. If Lookin At Luckey wins; drinks will be on the house for quite while...

Bill I am so happy to hear your buddy's horse won!!

My Preakness crew got home about an hour ago. All played out, sun burned and talkative at the same time. They had a blast and I got to hear all about it.....sometimes in stero (meaning more people talking to me than one). I dont understand why the ex does not miss this. Anyway thats bad karma....back to the kids.....so they all painfully showered up, got dressed and back out the door for dinner. They prob will get home around 10 and watch DVD's half the night. Oh to be young again. I loved being their age.  Well I love my age too, but they can light up a dark room.

Thanks George. It couldn't have happened to a nicer guy. Very generous, extremely classy and a true gentleman. I am thrilled for him. It looked as though the spectators were having a blast. Nice weather. Plenty of booze and the thought of crab cakes made my my mouth water. If you think you would like to be young again; just imagine how I feel. Lol. I won't ever be old though. Age is all in ones mind...

My Buddy's horse Lookin At Lucky just won the Preakness. Kind of cool to see someone I know standing in the winners circle at Pimlico. There will be some celebrating tonight but the partying will really start tomorrow when Paul returns from Baltimore.

Bill...you gotta love the story about Noble's Promise......I just like these guys and their horse. When you mentioned the shorter track it made me think this little horse could show pretty good here, maybe? There's chatter about it.

Howdy Theo. Looks like Noble's Promise will skip the Preakness and head for England and the Royal Ascot instead. I believe Tink usually attends those races. Look for her to be posting in some rather unique hats. LOL.I spent about 3 hours with the guy who owns Lookin At Lucky last night. The decision on him will made today or tomorrow but it's looking like a go. Noble's Promise is a great human interest story. Horse Racing is the sport of Kings but it also makes room for the little guy to be able to participate in races that rival the Super Bowl in poularity.

I ran into the gentleman that owns him at dinner last night. He had just returned from Louisville where he had been all week. He was laughing about the hat that he had to buy his wife for the Derby which she will most certainly never wear in Tucson. He felt like me. He was happy that his horse came through uninjured. They will be deciding this weekend whether they want to ship him to Baltimore for the Preakness. There are usually fewer horses in that race and it is a tad shorter. Maybe we will have a chance to root Lookin At Lucky on again soon...

Thanks, Bill.  I missed it.  One of the few sporting events I actually like to see....this triple crown.

Too bad about "your" horse.  But I hope you get a couple of free drinks out of it anyway!!!!!

Pat

It's always the first Saturday in May, Pat.  5:30PM yesterday. We got bumped badly twice at the start and never recovered. Such is horse racing. I am just glad that none of the horses or jockeys were injured running on that sloppy track. The next big race is in two weeks in MD. The Preakness at Pimlico Race Track...

[No tv service here at home yet...radio comes through as 87% static....all my news comes off the internet...or not...]

Rose and I had lunch at Huston's in El Segundo a couple of years ago. Rose is a fun lady and a very lovely person. She lives very close to my sister who joined us for a glass of wine and took the photos. I checked with Rose before posting these.

lol, I have spurs, Bill. I know they fit my boots.

I had a saddle that would have fit beautifully. Alas, I have left that behind long ago.

LOL. Shaz. We might want to get back to the Derby. No telling where this is heading...

You are correct Rose. It was your whip. It clashed with my shirt. The saddle was little bit too tight as well. LOL...
