Of course our early teens were influenced by music.  I went for a hike up the hill behind my home today and watched nature.  Can you guess the influences from 60's songs in this poem?  If you guess..  I will email you if you're right.   Rich

Clouds and Sun

They came in overnight blanketing the earth

Sunrise came and the dawn was hidden by them

They clung to the earth, the grass, the trees

Creating their misty moist white darkness

The sun from above tried to dissipate them

Using her radiant heat and time honored time

By noon the fog was now off the ground

And we were able to see again

I sat on my hill looking out over the valley

The clouds were at two levels

The low thick ones that were leaving

And the high wispy wanton ones

From the front now rolling over

Across the valley the clouds muted the colors

Until the sun’s spotlight shone through

Suddenly there would be brilliant light

And the white houses, red barns, green meadows

Now had their moment in that spotlight

They cherished their spotlight

Tin roofs reflecting sun’s rays back to her

Then their fifteen minutes of fame were ended

Muted again, others to be heaven spotlighted

I watched this play out on the hillside across the valley

Then the sun spotlighted me, hello shadow.

I took my 15 minutes of fame to bask in her rays

Not knowing if I would get to do this another day.

Okay I give up.  I've listened to everything from the Beatles to Sam Cooke, Otis Redding, the Drifters, Beach Boys, Rolling Stones, Aretha, Jefferson Airplane, even the Righteous Brothers.....I just don't know.  While I might agree with some of the other picks I could not find a good fit!  Maybe I'm wrong but I don't think the clouds were the focus, so I even tried one hit wonders.....that didn't work either.

Thank you though for helping me to kill a couple of hours with really amazing music I had forgotten about....LOL!
