There is a person on here that blocks non members from her blogs but her profile is open to non members. I find this strange. What do you think? Do you think a blogger should block non members from their blogs and does that lend to better blogging somehow? I have had bad posts on blogs before, but I just delete them if too strange or bad. Maybe I shouldn't let the "common" people on my blogs either. In fact, maybe I shouldn't let anyone on my blogs at all. I like talking to myself because then I am always right...right? btw, if you disagree with me I will block you.

I quit being a gold member several years ago so I cannot send emails and I am not really interested in blogging with this person anyway. I just find blocking non members from blogs very strange. I find it hard to believe a PhD would write with such poor grammar, so I am rather suspecting something is wrong. When I, who can't spell any word longer that four letters, and not all of those, spots spelling errors or usage errors written by a Phd something smells. lol

Hi Pat.....Bernie is not a gold member so he cannot send her an email...Unless she sent him one, but the way it sounds she has not....lol....G

Hi, Newman.  I know all that stuff.  I'm just trying to get Bernie's "goat."  As he, for sure, was trying to get all our goats [lousy grammer, but you know what I mean].   Just like to tease the hell out of Bernie every chance I get.  We're pals....no harm going on.  He's just a NUT AND A HALF.....  Oh....and very, very, very smart....  I do know what he's up to here.....

Hope you didn't get too much snow--if any at all....  We sure need at least one of us bloggers to still be sitting in the sun without the temps going below 52 degrees fahrenheit.....

I'm inclined to agree with Tink and Ame Bella.  Sounds like this person doesn't realize what's she blocked and hasn't blocked.  Especially if she's a new member just finding her way around here.

Can you send her a personal email, Bernie?  If so--do it.  Ask her your question.  If you can't send her a personal email, let me know.  I'll do it on your behalf.

One way or the other--we'll get to the bottom of this.... [LOL].

blocking the " nons" from a blog is counter-productive. There are very few people, overall, who participate to begin with. Readership will suffer. I don't care for " her" style anyway, and therefore do not feel I am missing anything. BUT- Seems kind of " troll-ish", doesn't it ? My "spidey senses" are going off. language style inconsistent..maybe thats why certain people can not read the blogs,,so oddities remain undetected. OR maybe not. who knows. Im wondering why I was made a favorite of the blogger in question, we've had zero interaction.

Yes, it does seem kindof trollish. Maybe it is a new marketing tool of MMs.

I have found that most of the people here are nice.

I have only blocked 2 people and had to ban one of the two from posting on my blogs.

I do believe that diversity and alternative thoughts are helpful to the whole experience.

Usually it's quite fun here.

I have heard that women get approached in an entirely different way than we do as guys.

I believe it and advocate everyone institute whatever measure they need to feel safe.

Who knows why people do the things they do.  It will limit the amount of replies she gets on her blogs but at the same time allows them to see and read her profile.  It may have been an oversight or done on purpose, I just don't know.

Hate to burst your bubble but as a non-paying member I don't think you have that function to block everyone (try it and see).

Hugs

I believe you can block from your blog as well as adding an individual from viewing your profile.  IF I remember correctly, there are still both functions for non-paying as I believe I did it before paying. I'll let you know when I let my month lapse and go back to the dark side....

the only real problem with a " gold-members only" blog is when they begin to occupy too many spots on the board. Being able to blog here is the ONLY reason some of us have stuck around AT ALL. Many of us were originally paying members. Now and then we run into someone worth contacting for romantic purposes and re-join. MM does not employ very good marketing techniques to attract new members. Blogging IS a successful way to attract and keep people coming to the site. If this trend of allowing only paying members to read the blogs continues, Im going elsewhere to spend my online " dating time"
