You see the real character of a person when a crisis happens. And we the American people are loving and compassionate. If the government would get out of the way and let us take care of our own think how much better things would be.

This morning I saw President Obama along with President Bush and President Clinton letting the American people know that a website strictly for donations for the people of Haiti was being set up and the latter two presidents were going out and seeking donations. I was struck by what Bush and Clinton said. President Bush praised the American people for great spirit and Clinton mentioned the government. Wow!

I know Bush got the ball rolling with alot of the things that went on with the economy, but I do miss his sincerity and tender heart. He's never faked his emotions and concern when something devastating has happened either here on home soil or abroad. I really miss that. You can't have a cold heart and be a good president in my humble opinion.

Government's first duty is to protect the people, not run their lives. President Ronald Reagan

Quoting Dekan09:

Isn't it a fact that we have given millions of tax payer dollars to the government and when the president said we are giving 100 million dollars of aide to Haiti that is a donation from the American people? I think that is what Rush was saying. If we want to go above and beyond what we give to the government to help the Haitians, which I have with monies sent to Doctors Without Borders, you go to their website. Do not go through other venues. I heard that if you text money to that 90999 it will take 3 months to get to the Haitian people. If you put it on your credit card it is there almost immediately, which is what I did. Anyway that's it!

Dekan.  That is a great point.  If you text your donation, it may take 90 days to get to the destination.  The money  does not begin to get transferred until AFTER you pay the cell phone bill.

Dekan I like seeing what you wrote, given you have supported Rush so much.  I think Rush's comments were absurd regarding donating for the Haitian cause (as the bells go off...hehe.).  It sounds like you may agree at least partially.  I think we all aim to have great results.
