I love a good thunderstorm and tonight in Toronto, we're having a doozy! Heavy rain, lots of loud thunder and bright light up the skies lightening! I love the sound the rain makes hitting the house, and to me there is nothing better than falling asleep listening to the downpour of a good heavy rain. It's great for the garden and the lawns too! Washes my lawn furniture beautifully too.

What is love? Love is feeling comfortable and safe with someone but still getting weak knees when they walk into a room and smile at you. :)

Hi SweetieTweety!

¿

Welcome to the blogs!¿ Speaking of thunderstorms - we've had some pretty freaky weather here today.¿ It's gone from lovely sunshine to darkened skies with lightening and thunder and even hail, then right back to gorgeous sunshine for about the past 2 hours, just keeps rotating.¿ It's great for the lawn and garden though, have never seen everything as green as it is today!

¿

When it's rainy like this, I just love curling up in bed with a good book and listening to the storm.

¿

CB, I've been watching the devastation from the flooding throughout many states in the US. Can't believe how many areas are being affected. So many families displaced and when they do get back home, the damage is daunting and dangerous to their health. So much effort into sandbagging, etc. and yet even with all our technologies today, still can't combat Mother Nature when she strikes. Seems many of the dams and levees are quite old too and surely being tested beyond their capacity. I so hope it's all over shortly, for you and for everyone suffering.

The "lake" in my front yard has about doubled in size since I posted that picture. The lakes are supposed to crest sometime today, so I am hoping that then the water will start to go down. However, all over Iowa and Illinois the dams are bursting. We have 2 damns on our lakes here. If the damn north of me burst, I think I'd be in serious trouble. All the runoff from Wisconsin fills our lakes, and they got even more rain than we did. Our lakes area has been declared a disaster area. All I know is that for the 3rd time in a year I will have to replace all my shrubs and flowers in the lower front of my yard. And I had just planted about 6 new ones!

Hey Queen! We blasted right into summer here, a few days were so humid it was terrible, reached 104F one day, a bit much for June. Robtest - I've deleted quite a few of my old blogs, maybe a sign to get the heck off here lol! Sharing a wonderful storm with that special someone makes it all the better! CB - Wowza! that's a lot of water, what a shame all your planting will be ruined. Seeing whitecaps on your own front lawn must be something else! Hope it abates for you. boldnsexy - I too find them comforting and relaxing, I'll send some of our rain your way. geniek - I don't much care for power outages either, we lost power but only for 45 minutes, so not too bad. I recall a 24 hour total power loss in Toronto a few years back, was quite the reminder how dependent we all are on electricity. Wow aVirtualone! That is one scary looking storm! If that's a boat in that shot, I'd be terrified. Doesn't even look like a storm cloud, more like fallout from a bomb! PuRrFekly_NrML- I finally got smart and now I just copy and paste your username lol! Yes it's a drag when the power stays out for any length of time, but leave it to you to be so innovative as to do indoor camping hahaha! Thanks re the pic, it's me doing what I love to do best - gardening!

Ready, I sure haven't been liking all the storms lately. We have innudated with rain, rain, rain, and our lakes are overflowing. Here is a pic of my front yard that is flooded. During the storm this morning, there were white caps, I swear. As I was taking the picture, several ducks swam away, and I hear frogs croaking, lol

Funny how so many of the original posts are now gone. I have never been one for "cleaning up" ones blogs and deleting them later. Also not much for the MM policy of deleting a rejected members "body of work" in the forums and the blogs... But back to the original topic. I love the rain. Especially in the spring and summer, I like to walk in the rain. It somehow allows nature to wash away my negative feelings and thought patterns. I love the lightning too. There is nothing better than sitting on the porch and watching the thunderstorm roll through. Well, maybe sitting on the porch enjoying it with someone! LOL

We're having a doozie of a thunderstorm here right now. 3rd one of the day! Huge raindrops, then sheets of torrential rain, high winds, big claps of thunder that even make my dog bark, lots of lightening. I just love it! The forecast says there may be hail which I'm hoping not as I just nicely got my deck planters done :( Pretty crazy weather lately everywhere. Here's a shot of lightening hitting the CN Tower. Wow looking back at this old blog sure brings back memories of who has posted on it.

Hi TinyDancer2! - I do too! Angelgirl - Sheesh! some people will do just about anything to get their clothes off! lol Socialflutterby - Be careful what you wish for lol! Big difference between a storm & a tropical storm, I for one would not want to enter the forces of Mother Nature THAT strongly. LatinPrincess - Hola to you too, and yes I agree it's wonderful to have someone to cuddle with no matter what the weather :) and thanks for the info, it does always smell so clean & fresh after a storm. Sarah sweet - thanks for your post! Robin Hood - just don't be standing in the forest during a lightening storm lol! 1Girl41 - There is nothing that beats the sound of rain on a tin roof, love feeling the thunder! GuitarGirl - We'll chat soon :) So glad to hear the new house holds up. Hope you got some pics of those muddy warriors lol! myselfmoi - was at a wedding where many were from Ireland & we'd just had an intense thunder storm the night before. They thought this was typical of Toronto or Canada in general, I told them no, but there's nothing quite like it! geniek - hope that storm helped you sleep. Hey Katiegrl - We were a bit shortchanged this summer, but it was so spectacular I didn't mind. MorningAngel - The storms in the Muskokas are incredible! What a great experience to share with your children. HeartnSoul - I hear ya! And a handsome man is even better :) southernstarr - awwww shucks, thank you :) I too could do without the hurricanes & tornadoes, a little too intense for me! Thanks for your comments, have a great weekend, it's Cdn Thanksgiving this weekend so to my fellow Canucks, Happy Thanksgiving!

Mmmm.. I remember that storm this summer. Had my 3 children curled up on the couch with me for part of it and watching the skies. A couple of years back we were up at the cottage all summer long and being Muskoka we could get some incredible storms. The first storm we had there my children were terrified. So I did what my great grandmother had done when I was a small child and took them over to the other cottage and to the room that sits out on the edge of the lake (though about 10 feet up above the lake as the cottage is on a slight hill). Three walls of the room are windows. I sat there teaching them about God's fireworks and how to see the beauty in the fury of the storm. We watched the water dance as it hit the lake. The lightening streak across and hit a tree about 200 feet up the shoreline (thankfully it the tree fell into the lake and not on someone's cottage). Listened to the rain thundering down over our heads (tin roofs make a LOT of noise). And had one of the best afternoons of our life. Later that night the storm knocked out the power and instead of being scared they took it in stride and made shadow puppets in the candle light. The next day smelled so incredibly fresh and clean. I love a good storm. Especially when shared with others. Leigh

Hey ReadyRoo, I was there with ya! I have a freaky frightened sort of love for Toronto thunderstorms. Wouldn't you say we were kinda shortchanged this year? I like to be scared at least once a week during the rainy seasons and we didn't get close to that many. The lightening doesn't spook me but the loud thunder cracks do. When I lived in Ottawa I used to stand in the window of my 2nd floor spare bedroom with the window open and watch the sky turn dark blue across the Ottawa River as the wicked storms rolled through the Ottawa Valley. Across the river was Aylmer and Hull, Quebec. I had friends who lived over there and it always looked like Mordor. LOL

In the five years I lived in Ireland there were 3 thunderstorms. 3!!! I'm from Ohio. We get humongous thunderstorms there. High winds, pink lightning, torrential rain. I missed thunderstorms so much. So I move to Utah. We hardly get any here. We've had a couple of good ones, but really short. I would love an Ohio storm just once.

Hey REady - havent talked to you in a while; hope all is well! Yes I love a good storm too. A couple weekends ago we had 9 inches of rain!!!!! It was pretty wild. My basement luckily only had a couple of places where some water seeped in - not bad for 100 year old house. Son's cross country meet that weekend was hysterical though - 200 kids running 2.5 miles and most as they crossed finish line were missing one or both shoes, covered in mud, it was wild!!!
