I'm heading to Vegas for a conference the early part of November.? Have never been to Vegas so should be quite the experience.? It's a wonderful 3 day event hosted by a dynamo woman that teaches mostly female entrepreneurs how to grow their existing businesses or starting a new one and taking it to great success.? She's done very well for herself and is #263 out of the top 500 Inc. growth this year so she must be doing something right!? I'm really looking forward to it.

?

I've been to a few conferences promoting personal growth, but this one seems different to me, she combines passion with purpose but does it with a step by step plan.? It's been quite a while since I attended a conference like this with approximately 1,000 people so thought it would be good for me to get out of my comfort zone and box, so I signed up.? She's got some top knotch guest speakers too like Barbara Corcoran, of Shark Tank fame, Julie Clark the founder of Baby Einstein and Marlee Matlin, academy award winning actress and activist. All are remarkable women.

?

I'm not much of a gambler per se, but am taking a bit of a gamble by going, but know it will be a positive experience for me.? It's always great networking with like minded entrepreneurs.? Just wondering if others explore these types of opportunities?? I love self development/personal growth and look at this as an investment in me.?

?

I've seen other members mention their travels and thought it's a great idea to combine travel with meeting new people, just makes a lot of sense to me.? It's a fairly intensive conference, but I would welcome the opportunity to meet MM'rs living in Vegas for a drink and conversation.

That sounds like a great event to attend. I¿am sure you will have a wonderful time.¿It seems many of us are getting more involved in the internet marketing world and Ali seems to know what she is doing there as well.¿ Who would have thought that joining this dating site would¿lead so many of us into internet marketing?¿

Hey Queenie!

¿

I signed up for the VIP Package and she did promise some surprise goodies, but that one looks amazing lol!¿ Yes Ali is remarkable, I've heard her speak of when she first quit her job and went to go to the ATM for some money to go out with friends for dinner and all she had was $18 in her account.¿ She was so bummed out she went home and didn't join her friends, but resolved that day to never be in that position again - and she hasn't!

¿

She hired billionaire coach Anne McKevitt, shuddered as she wrote the cheque, but never looked back.¿ I believe the fee was $500K which is hard to believe, but Ali and her partner agreed they needed Anne and a few years later she's become a multi millionaire herself and has ranked this year as 263 out of the top 500 Inc. which is no small feat.¿ Anne McKevitt will also be at the conference, hope to meet her too.

¿

Ali launched a brand new magazine called Ali Magazine in the middle of a recession and has done very well with it.¿ She often pokes fun at herself for how insane the timing for this was, but she forged forward and had a clear vision and it too has taken off.¿ This lady just gets what it takes to make a business successful, she's very down to earth, no nonsense, and says the biggest mistake women in business make is multi-tasking.¿ Although we're good at it, she says get very clear on what you want, do up your business plan, follow it to a tee and don't do anything else but that until it becomes profitable.¿ Once it's up and running, then you can expand and do something complementary to your original plan or something entirely different.

¿

I joined Facebook and many of those attending this event have been contacting me to say hello so that's a pretty nice way of getting to know people before actually attending.¿ Ali ran a video contest recently for 5 women who could not afford to attend the Shine Event, she received hundreds and in the end, decided to award 16 women the free scholarship which I find ever so generous.¿ The first 8 winners were announced Oct. 20th and I watched all 8 videos last night, they themselves were wonderful, heartfelt and inspiring.¿ I think it shows Ali's commitment to getting women to her event so they may learn what it takes to build a successful business for themselves.¿ I am extremely impressed with everything I've seen so far on Ali, whether it be her websites, her teleseminars, her email updates, her marketing.¿¿ Can't wait to hear her live!

Hey Sarah - Yes I love the creativity that comes from sharing new concepts and ideas too and I'm still in touch with some that I've met through other conferences, so it's always a positive outcome.¿ If I see Elvis I will definitely say hi ;).

¿

BillZ - I loved "The Secret" but didn't take a shine to everyone featured on it.¿ Some of these well known gurus get a bit much into the religious aspect for my liking.¿ I never cared for James Ray so never really followed his work but knew of him.¿ As far as Oprah goes, she always has very high profile guests on her show, does her best to have them checked out, etc. just because they're on her show doesn't mean she's recommending them per se, but just being featured on her show does carry a lot of clout.¿ Again people need to use their heads and do their own thinking and not just be sheep who blindly follow.

¿

DONTFIT - I will be sooo busy I won't have much time to get into trouble, probably won't even leave the complex as the intinerary starts very early and finishes very late.¿ I've never gambled, don't play cards (I'm card challenged lol!) so not sure what play reds is?

Three people are dead and¿James Arthur Ray is $30K richer. Bad choice of names. Sounds too much like James Earl Ray another notorious scoundrel. This¿guy doesn't sound like someone I would want to listen too. Doesn't look so good for Oprah's recommendation either. Sounds like he was running more of a cult than anything else. Be careful in Vegas, Ready. It's OK to drink the water there....

Quoting billzeke:

They just had a tragic ending to one in Sedona, AZ. A bunch of people assembled in a sweat lodge¿in what was suppose to be an American Indian Tribal¿cleansing ceremony. Unfortunately 3 people died and several others remain hospitalized. The organizer who was well known (he had appeared on Oprah) is nowhere to be found. The police have ruled the deaths as homocides and are looking for him.....

Yes I heard about that, it's James Arthur Ray who was featured on the movie The Secret.¿ He is into self development and teaching others how to create the kind of life they want and holds many conferences.¿ This particular one was called the "Spiritual Warrior" event which was a 5 day spiritual retreat and included the sweat lodge.¿ The sweat lodge has been used and in existance for hundreds of years, used by the Indians, Mayans, etc. to cleanse the body of impurities and also to heighten spiritual awareness apparently.¿ It's similar to saunas from the toxin removal perspective.¿ Apparently there were 55-65 people inside a 415 s.f. lodge and encouraged to remain the entire 2 hours inside the lodge.¿ There are far more questions than answers at this point, James Ray has posted his sympathies on a blog saying this is a tragedy that is testing him to his limits and that he's hired his own team of investigators to find out what happened.¿ People paid $9-$10K for this event.

I've never liked saunas but many claim they are extremely beneficial.¿ Someone I follow on Twitter posted a link to the actual 911 call, sounded very chaotic, believe the person on the call was a nurse and had tried CPR on the two that passed away, guess the 3rd one succumbed later.¿ There was much talk of "pushing yourself through it" when it got to be too much, that it was just your body's way of restricting you.¿ I'd say they're full of it and for gawd's sake use the brain you were given to know when too much is too much!¿ So many idolize these gurus and throw common sense out the window and blindly follow, I've never really understood that but know many do.

I've been to 2 conferences with the self development company I've worked with, both were amazing and had great keynote speakers, but none involved doing risky things.¿ The conference I'm attending in November is not like that at all, it's more business related, giving various income models, finishing up with a tailored business plan suited for each person.¿ There are some common elements shared with her mindset that are covered in most self development materials, but the entire purpose is about growing your business to the next level.

What is love? Love is feeling comfortable and safe with someone but still getting weak knees when they walk into a room and smile at you. :)

Hey Tink! - BillZ is absolutely correct re our $1 and $2 dollar coins.¿ Can't remember when they made the switch, but I did save a $2 paper bill for a keepsake.¿ When you get a bunch of these coins they weigh a ton in your purse, I try to use them up quickly.¿ Logic was they'd last better than their paper counterparts and stay in circulation longer.¿ It couldn't have been their concern for our health as the cocaine laden paper money wasn't known about back then ;).

¿

¿

¿

Hi Britt! - Hey what happened to your little picture of Cameron and Ashton??? (just love adding multiple question marks instead of letting MM's system automatically do it for me lol!)¿ I am getting excited about it and will most definitely share when I get back.¿ Don't think there'll be much happening other than the conference, the 3 days are very intensive packed with a lot of information so won't have much time to get into trouble ;).

¿

¿

¿

I had asked the question whether others attend seminars or conferences to educate/challenge/improve themselves, but it looks like no one does?¿ Being in self development it's second nature to me whether it be books, courses, conferences, etc.¿ Much is available online too now and that's instantaneous which is great and some of it is free as well.¿ The energy from the attendees and organizers¿ at these events is very infectious, I recall my first one and how I felt just being around them.¿ I'm expecting great friendships and transformation from this event.

Quoting Tinkerbelle:

whats toonies Bill?

¿

LOL Tink. Toonies are Canadian $2 coins. Their $1 coins are called loonies. I believe their smallest paper money is $5. Their change is actually worth something. If you visit Canada and don't manage your loonies and toonies properly you can gain a lot of weight by the end of the day.....

Hey newman!¿ I hear it should be in the 70's when I am there, sure beats the 40's & 50's which is what I'll have by then or even colder.¿ I'm staying in a beautiful hotel where the conference is, my room is gorgeous and huge (almost the size of my Mom's new condo lol!) but not quite the deal you got price wise.¿

¿

Thanks Tink!¿ I finally got my flight booked just yesterday, prices fluctuated so much but did get the times I wanted.¿ I think it's going to be spectacular, the venue is beautiful, itinerary looks great and just being with upbeat entrepreneurs who are passionate about what they do is energizing.

¿

Hi BillZ - I totally forgot the Grand Canyon & Hoover Dam is there :(.¿ I won't have enough time to sightsee as I arrive the day before the conference later in the day and leave early the morning after it's over.¿ If I like it, I'll go back and allow for some time to see all the wonders.

¿

Hi w's - thanks for your post.¿ Yes I'm enough of an ol' timer here to know who Cub is, in fact I actually met him just as friends when he was up my way a few years back.¿ He left a nice comment on my profile.¿ I heard via the grapevine he was married now, so please say hello for me!

¿

I went through the Welcome Package for the conference, was quite nice with a copy of Napoleon Hill's "Think & Grow Rich" which I've read before, but will do so again as it's a standard held by many and will be referred to and discussed at the conference.¿ A nice half hour CD from the host explaining a bit more about what will take place and promising that this conference truly will be different than anything you've experienced before.¿ I've listened to many of her teleseminars and just have a good feeling about this lady, she's different than the others I've come across and I'll get to meet some of those I follow on Twitter, etc. It will be a stimulating, thought provoking session of that I'm sure!

Cub lives in Vegas. He is a old MMer from a few years ago, but maybe before you joined. He would probably available if you are interested in meeting him.

To me the best parts of Vegas are not downtown but nearby. If you have some time there is the Grand Canyon, Hoover Dam, and the Grand Canyon Skywalk. Eating dinner at Joe's Crab Shack in the Forum Shoppes¿just outside of Caesar's is also a trip. Have fun. Keep a tight grip on your toonies.....
