We hear about it everywhere.

How has it effected you?¿ Have you experienced it?

Can it be stopped?¿ Or even slowed down?¿

Remember Mad Cow Disease?¿ Has everyone forgotten about cows?¿

Irocas,

Thank you.¿ I have no idea if she has the shot or not. She is 34 years old. I am not even sure why they induced a coma for H1N1.

Quoting Queenofyourdreams:

Yesterday I received the news that one of my sisters daughters has the H1N1 (Swine Flu).¿They have now put her into an induced coma to try and save her life. Her one year old son is in the care of family.

As I think about this I realize that many of us do not realize how serious this can be, until it effects someone we care about.

My prayers and thoughts are with you Heather.

So sorry to hear about your niece Queenie, my thoughts and prayers are with you all.¿ My cousin's wife just emailed me tonight, she wasn't able to make it to my Mom's 80th on Saturday as she was coming down with something too.¿ Her 2 grandchildren both were diagnosed with H1N1, one had a slight case of it, the other was very severe and had a temp of 103 and they were very scared, but both are okay now.

¿

I've never had any flu shots and am not intending to get one this year for the regular flu shot or H1N1, but my Mom is getting one and it's just this past 2 weeks they've been available for H1N1 here.

¿

All flu can be very serious especially if you've got pre-existing medical conditions that lend themself to weakening your system and of course the high risk being the very young and old.¿ Please let us know how your niece is doing.

What is love? Love is feeling comfortable and safe with someone but still getting weak knees when they walk into a room and smile at you. :)

OMG.. that's horrible. I thought, with a one year old, she would have been able to get the vaccine. Prayers with you and your family.

I know swine flu and H1N1 are one and the same Shaz. I think it was the Gov't. rather than the media that initiated the name change as the swine flu label was causing a decrease in the sale of pork and other swine related products even though the illness cannot be contracted from eating pork etc.

bill, not sure why the media has turned from swine to h1n1...its the same thing. As for shots,,yeah right. I get flu shots every year because I have asthma and am prone to frequent bouts of respiratory viruses and infections....which is what the flu IS. before i got thme I was sick all the damned time. back in the 60's my little brother died from the flu. there werent any vaccines against it back then. A shot will not protect you from ALL flu strains,,but it will protect you from many of them. Anyone who thinks that this is a normal flu strain has NO idea what they are talking about. Its vicious and stays around for along time and has high fevers that are scary. Plus it kills young previosuly healthly people. I for one am getting vaccinated next week once my DR clears me for it. A pandemic is nothing to fool around with and ide sya this is going to kill far more UNvaccinated epople than a vaccine will. ( some people do dies from vaccines,,i will tqake my chances) D...Iknow about a dozen people who have already had it and none of them had blisters like that. Could be an activation of dormat herpes strain that commonly infects mouths and causes blisters. Something like 87% of the worlds population is infected by one or more herpes strains...one very commom one being chicken pox.The virus can remain dormant for decades. A bad illness often will trigger such dormant viral infections. Thrush is apparently commom, too, and it does make blisters in the mouth as well. believe the warnings and be sensible. you cant avoid being around large groups of people...

A woman in my office was telling her daughter's best friend tested postive for the flu and she ended up with horrible huge blisters on her tongue. Has anyone else had that side affect from it?

PLEASE PEOPLE,.,its H1N1..not pig flu. I hope it hits the feral pig populationand wipes them out..such big nasty destructive creatures. BUSes and public transpo in general are bredding rounds for all kinds of horrid things. I wash my hands after I do anything and I still got it. My cars transmission freaked out and i was forced to take a bus about 70 miles and I was sick two days later...but the crazy black lady sitting behind me speaking in tongues and shouting obscenities along with crazy laughter and crying , was amusing.

Dekan, I agree. But also find this is true in most countries.¿The governments always find ways to distract people from the truth of what is going on. This worked well in the times when we did not have the media that we do now. The media has gotten very good at finding ways to show many of the truths.¿ I am curious how the presidents are still able to force the media not to show certain content. Such as Bush with not showing those who have lost their lives in Iraq. Or Obama with those who oppose his health care plan.¿ Is this a conspiracy? The Swine Flu?¿ Since it came from Mexico, probably not. Like any virus, it can spread by wild fire.

Shaz.¿ Yes, I am very careful when I am exposed to the public.¿ Most of the grocery type of stores in this area now provide disinfected hand wipes to clean off the carts and so on. I also bring a small package with me.¿ I avoid place where there will be many children....(Oh, wait. I always have. LOL)

Hello Irocas. I hope you are doing OK. Going to a hospital sucks. Especially during this time of the Swine Flu.¿ Did you know that Doctors are known as being the worse at washing their hands?

That is a cute photo you found. In fact, I went looking for more like it. The good news is that the one you found is not alone....

Is this what happens to people who get Swine Flu?

Hi, Peggy Sue.¿ You are so right. I think that the virus is not able to survive at this altitude.¿ It seems to like to be where there are more people and less bears. How has it effected your life?¿ Have you experienced it?

Looks like I am getting behind in my blogging.¿ Sometimes life does get in the way....
What started out as a (or so¿ I had thought) funny photo blog has turned into a serious discussion. Which in reality Swine Flu has become for many people.¿ Even in the news. Last night I watched a special on Swine Flu and airplanes.¿ Jeepers. One person that sneezes effects people 10 rows each direction. That does not include anything they might touch. The news suggested NOT using the restrooms in a plane or airport if at all possible.
Shaz, I have not experienced it yet.¿ I am always on large amounts of good vitamins and am seldom exposed to children.¿

I hope you are doing OK during this time of change in your life.

¿

Here is a new shirt for you.

I still remember President FORD urging people to get their flu shot and the people who listened began dropping like flies. Best way to avoid the flu is to wash your hands frequently, stay away from sick people and crowded places particularly airports and airplanes during the height of flu season. Who would have thought that a pig would ever fly????? But now we know the PIG FLU......
