Just wanted to wish all my fellow Canucks a Happy Thanksgiving! Thanksgiving is a time for giving thanks, I think many are so busy they sometimes forget to be mindful of all they do have. I have lately been mindful each day of 5 things I am grateful for, it's a wonderful way to start the day with a positive spin. They don't have to be earth shattering, just the simple things. I usually come up with more than just 5 and it's amazing how it shifts your mood. Today I am thankful that Mom is still with me, she's having a rough go right now in hospital, but she's getting phenomenal care and will improve, so that's what I'm thankful for. Would be lovely if some would like to share what they are thankful for!

What is love? Love is feeling comfortable and safe with someone but still getting weak knees when they walk into a room and smile at you. :)

Hi The Rose! - thanks for caring! I too think she's going to be okay, today she's totally off oxygen and walking to the bathroom unassisted, so that's huge progress in exactly one week. Had to laugh you're thankful for Stouffer's dinners, they are quick and easy, but I find they all taste the same after a while. The dental/medical must be a god send! Glad to hear you're thankful! Please tell Elaine thanks and my wishes for her health too! kitten - thanks for the hugs, they're always appreciated! So glad to hear the great news about your daughter's scholarship, makes such a difference and must make her and you feel very proud. I love reading what others are thankful for, like I said it doesn't have to be big things, in fact I find sometimes it's the little ones that make the biggest difference. In fact every day I am thankful for Bailey's in my coffee lol! MMMMM I just love that! One of life's simple pleasures.

Elaine would like me to convey to you-She is grateful for the time you spend with your Mother. She is also grateful for each morning she wakes up and is alive. She is living testimony that doctors are not always right(my opinion). And right now I think she's pretty grateful for her new air conditioner:-)

Hey PM! - Thanks for your post! We all have many things to be thankful for and it's amazing to me when you do take time to consider it, how many you come up with! Had 2 visits with Mom yesterday, 1st one with my son and she was so glad he came that she got teary. Second visit was with my brother, we found her eating her dinner at the side of her bed, was very down and teary, so we perked her up, gave her a nice foot and leg massage, cleaned her up and got her into a chair and she was laughing and happier when we left. Came home around 7:30pm and dinner was all ready as I'd done everything before and had a fabulous dinner with my son and my brother, set a nice table with good china and crystal and had a toast to family and my Mom in her absence. Was lovely! Those are all wonderful things to be thankful for that you listed too! Hey shaz! - that would be one heck of a hike for turkey dinner, especially as you don't even care for it lol! Thanks re my Mom, she might be getting out of ICU today so that's a big step in the right direction! Mmmmm - shrimp and lobster sound yummy! Love hearing about other traditions for the holidays too. As you said, it's all about sharing good times with those you care about. Today is actually the Canadian Thanksgiving, but I and many others do the dinner on the Sunday. It's 74F here today, like a summer day, so heading over to visit my Mom and then hope to spend a few hours in my garden to put it to bed for the season, always rejuvenates me!

Can I come to your house for dinner? Sounds delicious.I will bring my favorite,,blackberry pie. I am thankful that your mom is making progress. Life is precious and far too short. ps. you ARE allowed to make other holiday foods..Ham, or Standing Rib Roast,,whole planked salmon for example. I once served Basque Fish Stew, fresh bread, salad and a bunch of side dishes for Thanksgiving! Personally, Ide rather eat shrimp and lobster than turkey any day. For Christmas day,our traditional food is ,,yeapp its true, Pizza ! Then we go to the moveis. Ilove all the wonderful foods that are associated with the Holidays,,but being WITH family IS the reason to celebrate. Changing our " traditions" was hard at first,,but now we all really like taking things easy and just enjoy the day together.

LOL shazbot! - yes we your northern neighbours most definitely celebrate Thanksgiving just like you do. We do the traditional turkey with all the fixings! Glad to see you listed some things you are thankful for. Hey Queen - Thanks for your very kind post! I'm visiting Mom today then having my brother back for turkey dinner, mashed potatoes, acorn squash and our favourite - pumpkin pie!!! Canada's actual Thanksgiving is tomorrow Oct. 13th and it's your Columbus Day, so a Happy Columbus Day to you! Americans celebrate Thanksgiving so close to Christmas that I've always thought too many turkey dinners back to back lol! Today I am thankful for a glorious, sunny, warm Indian Summer day! I'm thankful my Mom is making progress even if she doesn't always see that, I'm thankful for my son and my family and my friends and I'm thankful to be able to afford a lovely Thanksgiving dinner with all the trimmings, so many don't have that luxury.

Happy Thanksgiving to all our friends in Canada. And of course to Ready, as she goes through this time of thanksgiving for the good health of her mom. Now is a good time for each of us to give thanks for all the good that we have, and all for all the good things to come.
