Whoever thought of this should be the next President.....LOL ""I?m against the $85,000,000,000.00 bailout of AIG. Instead, I?m in favor of giving $85,000,000,000 to America in a We Deserve It Dividend. To make the math simple, let?s assume there are 200,000,000 bonafide adults in the U.S. Our population is about 301,000,000 +/- counting every man, woman and child. So 200,000,000 might be a fair stab at adults 18 and up.. So divide 200 million adults 18+ into $85 billon that equals $425,000.00. My plan is to give $425,000 to every person 18+ as a We Deserve It Dividend. Of course, it would NOT be tax free. So let?s assume a tax rate of 30%. Every individual 18+ has to pay $127,500.00 in taxes. That sends $25,500,000,000 right back to Uncle Sam. But it means that every adult 18+ has $297,500.00 in their pocket. A husband and wife has $595,000.00. What would you do with $297,500.00 to $595,000.00 in your family? Pay off your mortgage ? housing crisis solved. Repay college loans ? what a great boost to new grads Put away money for college ? it?ll be there Save in a bank ? create money to loan to entrepreneurs. Buy a new car ? create jobs Invest in the market ? capital drives growth Pay for your parent?s medical insurance ? health care improves Enable Deadbeat Dads to come clean ? or else Remember this is for every adult U S Citizen 18+ including the folks who lost their jobs at Lehman Brothers and every other company that is cutting back. And of course, for those serving in our Armed Forces. If we?re going to re-distribute wealth let?s really do it...instead of trickling out a puny $1000.00 ( ?vote buy? ) economic incentive. If we?re going to do an $85 billion bailout, let?s bail out every adult U S Citizen 18+! As for AIG ? liquidate it. Sell off its parts. Let American General go back to being American General. Sell off the real estate. Let the private sector bargain hunters cut it up and clean it up. Here?s my rationale. We deserve it and AIG doesn?t. Sure it?s a crazy idea that can ?never work.? But can you imagine the Coast-To-Coast Block Party! How do you spell Economic Boom? I trust my fellow adult Americans to know how to use the $85 Billion We Deserve It Dividend more than I do the geniuses at AIG or in Washington DC. And remember, The Birk plan only really costs $59.5 Billion because $25.5 Billion is returned instantly in taxes to Uncle Sam. Ahhh...I feel so much better getting that off my chest.""

Quoting drvalerie: I'd vote for you. Sickening that the money they are giving thieves and frauds could pull the country out of recession if they would distribute it properly and punish the guilty instead of the taxpayers.

Thanks for the confidence Doc. I decided to vote for myself as well. I filled out the ballot yesterday. I wrote myself in for President. Felt pretty good. I am mailing the ballot in today...

Quoting shazbot82: dang Bill ..cut a dsylexic gal some slack wood ya plseae ? lol,,,you ARE correct,,,I forgot ...a chollo is a slick dressed low rider type...a Cholla is the cactus. I HATE those damned cactus..pays to keep a good roll of duct tape around..in case of accidential pricks. Have you tried that method of removal ? PLace a strong tape over the spines, press down and rip off.Works like magic. And for another one of my " wilderness Adventure tips"...when in australia,,always carry vinegar in the car with you. Removes the sting of jellyfish...except the ones that kill you out right,,,thems NOT happy ones. !

Removing jumping cacus with duct tape. I think I might rather have my legs waxed...lol. Duct tape is great stuff. It holds the wings on our air planes and keeps our bridges erect (or is it Viagra that keeps the bridges erect????)so we should try never to waste any. We use the wide end of a comb or a pair of channel locks to remove the large cactus pieces and then jump in a hot tub to sweat out the tiny bristles. Trust me. It's a much more civilized method of removing cholla cacti....

Most of the commentary on this thread is from 10/1/08. At that time the DOW was at 10K plus. Now 8 days later it's a little under 8,600. Wow. It's Oct. and it's still too early to do anything but quick trades. Unbelievable.JMHO

Just received the following in an email. Looks like pretty good advice to me....lol... ""Normally I avoid discussing any advice regarding buying or selling of stocks, but I felt this is important enough to share and warn you since this explosive situation might prove to be yet another ENRON. Please review any holdings you might have in the following stocks: American Can, Interstate Water, National Gas Company, Northern Tissue Company. Due to uncertain market conditions, I advise you to sit tight on your American Can, hold your Water, and let go of your Gas. You may be interested to know that Northern Tissue touched a new bottom today, and millions were wiped clean. It's a tough market out there. Be careful !""

Bill,,I get that same exact feeling when the dreaded Dept sends me anything.I cant recall the last time I got a refund of any sort. For my 50th b-day..on the exact day, I got a nice letter from them. Seems they believed I owed them $ 20,000. Talk about a quick way to short circuit a festive mood. I didnt owe them, and I knew it,,but I think I did run for the barf receptacle all the same. ps. taint nev-a set a foot in a trailer park, but wouldnt mind that there acre. Does that come complete with snakes, coyotes and chollo cactus's ? Thats pert neear all i 'member bout AZ...TOO many damned pricks ! lol George,,I am woefully undereducated in what $ 600 can buy. Peggy Sue says there are places where that amount is a mortage payment...I sure wish it was here ! I was, more or less, being facetious. I agree with you.. I might have been inclined to go purchase some new clothes, or more books, or take a weekend trip. Spread it around a bit. Alas, no check came. weepweepweep

Shaz. George....Come to AZ. We will fix you up with your own acre and a double wide for about $600 per month. If you can find some old junk cars to sprinkle around your property you will fit right in with the neighbors. I got a post card from the IRS early in the year telling me I was getting a refund check. Therefore I was happy when the letter arrived from the IRS a couple of months later as I assumed it was my refund. I am usually terrified when I receive anything from the IRS and I feel like puking all the way from my mail box back to my office. Now I know why. It wasn't a check. It was bill from them for $1800 which they claimed involved a dividend I had received. Too bad the IRS didn't bother to investigate a little further so that they might have determined that the dividend was clearly deposited into an IRA acct. and therefore any taxes were deferred. It took me a couple of hours to write them a letter explaining their error and dig out the supporting documentation. I just visited the site on the IRS website which tells you about your refund check. Seems like I am not getting a refund after all. I guess they figure when they tell me that I don't really owe them $1800 in taxes I should be almost as happy as if I had gotten the refund. Maybe they are right. What's the difference. It's all our money they are flinging around anyway.

I am feeling faint....... ewwwwwwww. But I do live on the beach.

Quoting thenewman: haha Bill....All of your friends and family must make over over $87,000 individually or joint filers over $184,00. Or they did not file a tax return in 07. By the end of August Treasury disbursed over 93 billion dollars to nearly 115 million individuals and families. I am thinking I will not vote for my Congressmen and Senators who voted for the package as they exempted me from receiving payment....lol....George

Tax refunding is the irony in government in many ways. For one this sounds like Blue Eye's blog, no one is going to be happy if the rich get any kind of a refund. Even if it's one-half of one per cent or less. Next it's the voodoo in economics. $93 Billion were added to the national debt to let people spend some money, then the price of gas sky-rockets and the price of food jumps, too. Maybe it would have made more sense to spend $93 Billion like the 1930's, on dams, bridges, and school buildings, and resurfacing roads, infrastructure, etc. That benefits the entire public while adding a lot of jobs for a certain number of years.
