While I like MM's innovations and the fact they update the design (gallery views, etc...) and verifications (age, occupation, salary, etc...) but I've noticed this new "Most Popular" filter and I'm baffled. I ran some quick numbers on "Most Popular" blogs and "Most Popular" profiles and I cannot come up with a system that makes sense. Blogs are not organized by number of views, number of comments, or number of comments in relation to number of views, and profiles are not arranged by number of views, number of times added as favorite or any combination of the two as I can see. Two questions: (1) out of curiosity, how are "Most Popular" blogs and profiles ranked, and (2) does it matter? Should we care which blogs are more popular than others or which profiles are more popular than others? Does that make them more interesting or a better catch?

Dear John, I had posted a succienct and through answer to your query. In fact, too truthful because MM removed it. The most popular catagory has nothing to do with THIS site. It is, however, a regular feature of some affliate sites. A trip around a few search engines would prove enlightening.

That's because popularity is like a chocolate in a box of chocolates at a given time. It might be popular in one box, but not another. It might not be popular in the same box next year, etc. Sometimes they'll hit it in all boxes, like the Beatles, though not necessarily every year, ie, that bigger than Jesus quote. And some poetry critics do not like all of their lyrics, such as the Hello, Goodbye song. Maybe there's no clear winner, which sounds good to me.

Blue, I haven't clicked on "Most Popular" in awhile, and so I did. What I found interesting is that a lot of the authors of the most popular blogs are now gone, or at least hidden and inactive. Including Cassie. Cassie's blogs were always very popular. I will miss her in that aspect. Hmmm, maybe we should start a new blog and vote for our favorite Cassie blog, lol. There would be so many favorites to choose from...like the breast implants. Or maybe when she wanted to go give the expensive bracelet to the wife. Or her big decision to change jobs and move to New York....so many wild and crazy ones to choose from! I may be a little bit "tongue in cheek" here. But they always were entertaining!

Blue.... "Most popular"..."Most Likely To Succeed"....."Best Looking"...they are all just ridiculous titles that people just love to place after their names...remember the high school yearbook...well, all "The Mosts and all The Bests...love to find out if they all lived up to their titles....

Most popular.... that makes me laugh out loud! People passing a car accident are compelled to look. I wonder if the Highway Patrol will start a web link offering the 'most popular car accident of the day'?

I think the most popular thing is total rubbish and is absolutely no proper way to judge someone, don't care how popular I am(never checked)or how popular is the person I am interested.
