I know it's corny, trite, cliche and silly, but I was reminded today of how much you'll change your life and that of those around you with a simple smile. "Those who bring sunshine to the lives of others cannot keep it from their own." I was faced with an adversary in court this morning who had apparently had a terrible morning, he was harried and angry at having to travel a long distance to appear in a case he didn't like very much. Before beginning our pre-trial negotiation, I smiled at him, commisserated about the drive and the heat, and within an hour we settled the entire case with him leaving happy (well, satisfied). He thanked me and went on to a much better day. People inherently react which means: we act and they re-act. Please make a conscientious effort to smile today and share any positive results here!

Great thoughts here. May I add these words of wisdom. Smile and the world smiles with you, Cry and you cry alone.... Blu, what you have said is true. Smiles are contagious. If we each give a real smile to someone in our lives today, they will feel it, than pass it on to another...

People may not remember what you say or do, but they will remember how you made them feel.

When I see someone without a smile, I give them mine. That is my life's motto, and it really does work. I can't tell you how many strangers passing me on the street smile back.

Dear Pauline, Lisi and Honey, thank you for sharing your beautiful smiles here! Bill, I'd probably be laughing too hard at the poor sot not to smile - as for briefs and filings, they are easily replaced and the new attache is black leather so coffee really isn't a problem. I might be upset that he's drinking Starbucks instead of a local coffee shop's brew but that's another story. Dear Lakshmi, is that a self portrait while taking an illicit hallucinogen? Certainly very colorful, high marks for that!

You also need a little coopperation from the potential smilee. What if the other arrorney had tripped on his way over and spilled his Starbucks all over your briefs and filings plus ruined your new attache case. Think you would still be smiling????

Good to see you back again .. Yes a smile does wonders.. it does not have to be the big flashy ones either.. When people see that light in your eyes as you smile it make a bigger difference. makes people feel important even if it was a fleeting moment.. A smile with no purpose behind it is like a fake money .. it looks real, but is worthless..

BlueEyz2006: Thank you for sharing such a simple yet poignant story. FOR every ACTION there is a REACTION. I do smile at strangers at the mall and on the street and most often I get one in return. Peace begins from within. *Smiles* _Honey

BlueEyz, If I made a difference I can't say, but if there is one thing everyone that I met in my life will remember about me will be my almost permanent smile! It is in my ' baiana ' nature I can't help it! Smiling Lisi
