My beloved Lab Mollie went for surgery today for her eye and ears. As an afterthought I told the vet to remove a lump on her head, which we had needle aspirated only a year ago, and it was fine. The lump has now turned fibrous and it "looked fishy" to the vet, so he exised a margin around it and sent it off to the lab to check for cancer.
This dog is my baby. I don't know what I will do if it is cancer. If any of you animal lovers out there want to offer up a prayer for my Mollie, we would much appreciate it. Thanks.

Mollie is doing ever so much better today, the prayers really helped! So thank you so much. I just have to wait now for the lab results on whether or not the tumor was cancer. Bummer.
I feel like a nursemaid, she needs pain meds, eye ointment, head ointment etc. But puppy kisses and hugs are worth every moment, even if I didn't get any sleep last nite. I put her on my bed next to me so I could keep checking on her. Even after she stopped whimpering, I keep waking her up to see if she was still alive, she had so many meds in her, I was scared. I'm glad she bounced back so quickly. I think it was her ears that hurt her the most, as she had them scraped out and flushed, and she has a torn eardrum in her right ear, poor baby.
For you water dog lovers out there, apparently chronic ear infections are common in labs and goldens (I have both), and this can happen without knowing it. Her ears have been bad for awhile, and I'm so glad they are fixed now. If the ear drops/ointments aren't working, get digital images taken of their ears, you'd be surprised the detail it shows, and how gross the black wax plugs can be!

Well, it was a rough night. Mollie was whimpering till welll past midnight. It is now 5 a.m., and she seems much better. She ate and drank a little bit, and is sitting by me wagging her tail and wanting to be petted. She is more like her old self, even tho she looks so hideous, with her shaved head and huge incision and stitches. She is finally able to focus her eyes on me, last night they were rolling in her head after all the meds, lol. She was really dopey! I thought she was blind, cause she surgery on both her lower eyelids too (infected oil glands) and she only looked straight ahead. Good thing she is so good wearing the lampshade, it is one less thing to worry about, I don't want her scratching her wounds. She is such a good doggie. Thank goodness I have these next three days off so I can keep an eye on her before going back to work.
Thanks so much for all your prayers, I think they really helped. I was a basket case yesterday! I just hope the lab results come back clean....

Thank you so much Trish, and Dog too. Doggie prayers are the best!
Queen, your prayers are so special, as you are connected directly to the animal kingdom, so that is good!
Mollie now has 3 Tramadol on board, so she isn't crying all the time. I took her outside while I took a quick hot tub, and she laid next to it as she normally does, and stargazed. She is now in her puppy bed, and resting. She still whimpers every so often, but not as much. I gave her the pills with her favorite liver sausage, and she was happy.
My little golden Maddie hasn't a clue as to what is going on. She is very needy right now as she is confused. She has never spent I am trying to keep her away from Mollie cause she wants to lick her wounds. Mollie will get the lampshade treatment tonite so her head can't be scratched or licked.
Thanks so much to all you animal lovers. she is my furry child.

CB. I know you are as connected to your furry family as I am. This is a difficult time, this I know to be true, for you. It sounds like Mollie is doing well, and back in your home where she will be the most comfortable. All I can do is say a prayer for you and Mollie, that she keeps getting better, and let you know that I care.
Dear God, We pray for the healing of CB's beloved friend, Mollie. You said if two or more come together and "agree" upon anything, it will be done. In loving prayer and faith we come before you this day asking for your blessings and healings for Mollie. We know you desire complete healing for these most loved ones, who you have given into our care. Together, we pray for CB's beloved pet, Mollie.

Thank you Elaine. I picked Mollie up a few hours ago. She cried in the car the whole way home, and then at home she kept pacing and whining. AFter an hour, I called the vet back. They said it was prolly her ears as she had a torn eardrum. Even tho they had given her a 24 hour pain injection, they told me to come pick up some Tramadol for her. So I ran back and got the meds, and finally, after 2 hours, she has laid down.
Her head looks like a monster. Her forehead is shaved with tones of stiches for the tumor. She also had 2 oil glands removed from her eyelids so she has stitches there two. Her front paw is shaved from the IV's, and red looking.
Awww, she is crying again, gotta go. Poor doggie.
