So I plan this business trip and I have everything worked out...with the exception of a few of the costumes. I buy the non refundable tickets to the event. I even buy extra tickets to a $100 a plate charity fund raiser dinner. Now one of my models is getting married and her navy fiance will be on shore leave that week so she wants to cancel. Can I get a replacement at this late date? No. I can't. No one can get the time off. And as if that isn't bad enough the other model refuses to share a room with a stranger even if I could find a replacement. So I'm leaving for Pittsburgh on April 15th with an extra ticket and short one model. I'm pulling my hair out on this one and there is nothing to be done about it. I'm really going to need a drink at this one. If anyone wants to join me in that drink (even coffee) give me a yell and I'll tell you when the bar opens.

I'm back. I'm exhausted. We started out on Tuesday night and had to stop off because there was some last minute shopping to do. So we got to the half way point and took a hotel. When we arrived at the Pittsburgh Hilton on Wednesday morning our room was not ready. It seems the construction that was supposed to have been finished the week before is at least 3 months behind schedule. There was no valet parking left. There was no parking left in the building they sent us to. We parked on the opposite side of the block and walked to our hotel. At 5:30 when our room was ready a bellboy had to go back to the car with me to get our things. Much fun. First night all went smoothly. Everyone loved my work. My biggest problem was that the model who didn't go was the better photographer and most of the shots of my things were really bad. As in legs cut off and lots of ceiling. I got some good shots of the things I did for her. But batteries died and the brand new ones I brought with me were all drained... the entire 10 pack. So I didn't get a lot of picture. And I didn't get to change for the final parties because of time constrictions and searching for batteries. Now that I am home I am having problems with the camera drivers to download the pictures from the camera to the computer. Sigh... if it's not one thing it's another.

Okay. So by the time this post appears in the lists on Tuesday, I will be on my way to Pittsburgh. I didn't get all of the things I needed to get made finished. I did get the most important things done. I have costumes for the golden age of hollywood party, the monster ball, the under the sea fairy ball, and the flapper party. I made a stunning red silk number for the charity dinner and a cute little eyelet lace day dress for a luncheon I will be attending. I also managed to get the things made for my one model. I can't wait to get pictures of her in this lime green crepe backed satin evening gown I made her. Its fantastic. When I get back on Sunday and I have time to rest and get my pictures on the computer I will post them so you can see what I have been doing all this week. Wish me luck!

Lovetosmile, thank you. I will keep you in mind. Mostly what my models do is put on the wonderful creations I make and go to parties or concerts or whatever and have a wonderful time and whenever someone comments on their outfit they pass out business cards. Not hard to do. I don't get to work with smaller women much. Most of my current clients are all plus sized or as we call it "size fluffy". And while smaller women can go shopping and find almost exactly what they want, larger and fuller figured women find shopping a torment because mainstream designers think we are all 94 years old and should wear flowered tents to disguise the fact that we are Rubenesque. I think every woman should be able to project the image she wants to at an event and needs the right outfit to do so. If she can't find it out there in the retail jungle she should be able to find it somewhere. Hence my business, Wynterhaven Designs. (And that includes Healey's Polecat Pretty Ms. Bonecrusher. LOL!)

If you ever need a size 4 Model for that type of event in the future, keep me in mind. It's for a good cause and I love paying it forward through volunteer work such as what you are doing. : ) Good luck with your Models. Keep your head up and think positive. It will all pan out in the end.

So I'm going with one model. I spoke to the event coordinators and explained the situation to them. I can't get a refund but the money won't be wasted. As this is an annual event, my money will be kept toward next year's event and I will not lose it. I just have to go to Orlando next year for the event. Oh well... I think I can handle going to a nice warm sunny location this time next year. Although I'm sure next year's event will be twice as expensive since there is nothing in Orlando that isn't triple the cost of the rest of the world. Ah me... what a nightmare this trip is turning out to be.

Kate, That is very kind of you. I meant models as in fashion models. I own a "design your own" business. You know how you go shopping with a picture in your head of exactly what you want and you can't find it? I bring that picture out of your mind and put it in your wardrobe. This trip is to advertise my business to women around the country. There is an event in Pittsburgh that is the perfect venue for my work and I am going to show off some of the things I can do. The fashions I am working on right now are custom made for each of my two models, both of whom are plus size (16-20) so I don't believe your friends would be able to help me. It was a lovely thought however. You are a very sweet girl. I think I am just going to drag my other model by the hair and force her to go. The only refund I can get is to the charity fund raiser and that really isn't money I want returned. It is to aid two different charities. One is Adrian Paul's PEACE foundation (Protect Educate Aid Children Everywhere) and the other is Support Our Soldiers America Inc. which runs a retreat for wounded soldiers and their families to be together while they are recovering. The stress is not so much that I can't deal with it. Mostly it is just aggrevation. I can do the event with one model if necessary. But I think I can tempt the wayward model back with the promise of new shoes she can keep. Luckily she is a shoe whore of the highest magnatude and I found a pair of 4 inch red peep toe sling backs I'm sure she will drool over. It will be okay. I'll just have a few extra margaritas and give her fiance directions to the hotel.

Stress is one of the worst feelings, i could only imagine how you feel. I always get aromatherapy lavender scented in scents and take a hot bath with lav. scented bubble bath, it really works for me and i feel i can block the rest of the world out of my life for at least an hour or until my boss calls and needs me to come into work lol.....just thought i would give you an idea And you say "models"...you mean like fashion models, commercial, runway, promotional etc? I live close to pittsburgh, about 50 miles away. Is that where the event is? My one gf does some modeling, if you would want I could ask her to give you a hand and fill in
