I stumbled across this blog that was posted last year without comment and thought it was worth reviving. I admit to being an Andy Rooney fan (despite his frustration with Sasha Cohen who was doing the Allie G. routine with him when he walked off camera frustrated by the comic's abuse of the English language - hilarious!). Anyway, I'm not sure the age 30 is magical and I've known women under 30 who fit this description (as well as women over 30 who don't), but this is a great observation: Posted on 30-MAR-06 This was written by Andy Rooney from CBS 60 Minutes. He says: "As I grow in age, I value women who are over 30 most of all. Here are just a few reasons why: A woman over 30 will never wake you in the middle of the night to ask, "What are you thinking?" She doesn't care what you think. If a woman over 30 doesn't want to watch the game, she doesn't sit around whining about it. She does something she wants to do. And, it's usually something more interesting. A woman over 30 kno more... This was written by Andy Rooney from CBS 60 Minutes. A woman over 30 knows herself well enough to be assured in who she is, what she is, what she wants and from whom. Few women past the age of 30 give a damn what you might think about her or what she's doing. Women over 30 are dignified. They seldom have a screaming match with you at the opera or in the middle of an expensive restaurant. Of course, if you deserve it, they won't hesitate to shoot you, if they think they can get away with it. A woman over 30 has the self-assurance to introduce you to her women friends. A younger woman with a man will often ignore even her best friend because she doesn't trust the guy with other women. Women over 30 couldn't care less if you're attracted to her friends because she knows her friends won't betray her. Women get psychic as they age. You never have to confess your sins to a woman over 30. They always know. A woman over 30 looks good wearing bright red lipstick. This is not true of younger women. These days, "40 is the new 30", so a woman over 30 is far sexier than her younger counterpart. Older women are forthright and honest. They'll tell you right off if you are a jerk if you are acting like one. You don't ever have to wonder where you stand with her. Yes, we praise women over 30 for a multitude of reasons. Unfortunately, it's not reciprocal. For every stunning, smart, well-coiffed HOT woman of 30+, there is a bald, paunchy, 40+ year old relic of a man in yellow pants making a fool of himself with some 22-year-old waitress.

suzy homemaker Shaz??? give me a break youll be telling me you do baking next lolol

All you have to do is be fabulous darling/

Blue whoever wrote that was a smart cookie. Us over thirties or in my case over 40s have a great deal to offer we know the score and are secure enough in ourselves not to get caught up in all the trivial nonsense the young deal with. We know the score, we know who we are, we know who our men are, and we are confident and self assured enough to be sufficiently independant within a commited relationship. We dont sweat the small stuff instead we look at the bigger picture.

Oh and by the way we look great no correct that..... we ARE great !

just shy of my 52nd birthday ...all I can say is that Im sorry I wasted the first 3o years being¿ a push over.

¿ I didnt really start to " be alive' until I had divorced my first husband.

¿

¿can you all picture me as¿ Suzy Homemaker ???

including the June Cleaver dress..yeap I did that for awhile.

¿ I much prefer to have the sense I have¿ now as opposed to being young and stupid again.

Oh my.¿ I just read your blog...After I created a blog called "I am Older" or something like that.¿

You and Andy Rooney are dead right about us older women, for I am 39 an will se 40 soon.¿ If you (man) are watching sports, somthing that I do not watch, I will go in the other room or go do something else.¿ I do not need attention that bad.¿ And yes, I¿do¿not cover words with honey or sugar, I just say it.¿ The list goes on but I rather not waste your time by talking, and talking...and talking.¿ I get bored too with long-winded people.

Although, it is hard to impress me, BlueEyz, I must say that I am impressed. Bravo!¿ :o)

Older people think older is best. Younger people think younger is best. Crazy people think that crazy is best. And the only real serious problem is the last.

I think the debate could go on forever about why "some" men prefer much younger woman, there are many reasons and they deserve a long explanation (which I don't want to get into). Now I will only speak for myself,,I do prefer woman who are considered "older" I love their life experience, confidence and as Mr Rooney so perfectly pointed out, they know who they are, what they want, what they need and usually don't have any problems expressing it. I find this so appealing, because I'm a terrible mind reader and reading between lines gives me headaches. Thanks Blue for bringing up an interesting topic

great blog, albeit a repeat. It does sound Andy Rooney-ish, however it is only Urban Legend that he wrote the words... Frank Kaiser was the true original author. My favorite quote on the joys of older women is Ben Franklin's "Old Mistresses' Apologue"

Hello ladies, excellent comments all (I particularly like Honey's eloquence). Caramia makes a great point that each day we should be better than the last and to Tink's question about why men chase younger women, I think it has something to do with unresolved issues from youth. Maybe they weren't popular enough for their tastes, maybe they feel like they finally deserve the prom queen and they want to scratch that itch (or, at least, put it on the bucket list). Sweetlili gives a nice compliment to "wiser" men but correctly points out this is not always age dependent either. Shaz and Pauline, thanks for adding your voices too.

Good blog. Well I am happy being in my twenties. I'm not anything like the potrayal of younger girls here. I think personality is more important than age. Age does not mean wisdom. How you behave and your strength within all depends on your personality and background. sarah :-)

i am not real sure why, but i do now and always have attracted men younger than I am. 1st H was 6 years younger, 2nd h was 5 years younger....all past dates in last ten years, all younger. MANY men my age are not active, are homebodies and are looking to retire, veg out in front of a big screen. OR they tend to go the other way,,Manic with the fitness and such. Those men tend to like younger women because MOST older women can not keep up ! I have not ever found men older than myself to be attractive and I REALLY cant see how younger women can ! Bestmatches tend to be 5 yrs older/younger. I think far too many older men are FAILING to notice the GREAT women their OWN ages who are around. And I wonder,,,do they want to lonely ??? or do they want to be in love ?

"Older women are forthright and honest. They'll tell you right off if you are a jerk if you are acting like one. You don't ever have to wonder where you stand with her." And you always know where you stand with a woman over 40..she moves on very quickly leaving only dust behind. Very refined, classy, seasoned and spicy dust. ..she's just beginning one of the best chapters of her life in her 40's.. It's good to be a 40ish woman !

Blue, thanks for the revival of this blog...My opinion of this article, is that it doesn't matter.20-30-40-50s I've known men who like the young ladies, and older women....but what is older?lolIt just depends on the person. It seems as though there has been a bit of a role reversal...Many woman now go for younger men or midle age ,and or older..There is always someone for everyone..well amost.....lol

Lol Lilli. Ive been in touch with a few men on here and most men of my age have told me I am too old for them. I told them they dont know what they were missing!!! I think the reason young women go for much older men is more about money than being with an older and wiser person. Forgive me but I think thats a crock ! As for signing the cast. You are so right Ive missed that one
