The empirical facts are as follows: 1. Very few black men go on dating sites. It's mostly white men and women who go online. 2. Being "Friends" with someone from any race is fine and dandy... but when it comes to "Partnership" --it's Similarites that prove to make harmonious relationships! 3. Forget "political correctness" -- people find comfort with their own tribe, the more they have in common, the more they resonate. 4. Yes, many many white men KNOW that black women, hispanic women, asian women, WANT them. It makes them arrogant and assume they can get sex real easy from them. It's offensive, but True. Because white men Know this, they take advantage of them. I've heard this all my life from black girls. The "collective" disposition of most Minority folks complain + complain about whites... However, they're ALL eager to be connected to them in any way! One of my best pals is black from Jamaica. We met at Columbia University long ago, he always told me he would never date a white girl...he only wants a black woman. Just like me, he understands, that Friendship is one thing, and Partnership is another. Sharing the same race, spirituality and political views is most improtant to harmony. Amen*

Hello Onyxdoll! I get the same thing! LOL What kills me is the same guys viewing my profile over and over again, but they never send an email...lol Since I've been exploring the site these last couple of weeks, I've learned some reasons why guys do this. Either they read a post and wanted to know more about you, you came up in a search, they didn't meet one of your preferences, you didn't meet their preferences, or, the whole "forbidden fruit" factor. LOL Take care! -Nicole

That is strange why men would do that. I think it might be because some men would date a women of colour, but not want to marry her. I had a dude tell me that once at the swimming pool. However, I had a causcasian man ask me my race on the phone. I told him and he asked me if I was dark. He said I looked white or something like that in my photo. I wondered if other women of color have been told they are dark by white people and if so what they think about it. Lot's of white people (strangers, neighbors, dates) say it to me all the time and I find it rude. It's the first word's that pop out of a strangers mouth. Another variation is-where have you been on vacation? I wouldn't go up to a white person and tell them they are real white or haven't they taken a vacation lately.

You know what? You really made me think. I think I put down white males as my preference also, when, in reality, that is not the case at all. I think, without thinking, many people put their ideal match to be similar to themselves (looks, skin color, interests), even though that is not always the best match. This was an eye opener. Thank you. I will be sure to change my preference. Sorry I'm not a man, but you are very pretty. Good luck to you in your search.

Since posting my earlier message on this blog, I have had a number of Black ladies stop by an view my profile. Guys, some of you are really missing the boat. Virtually every one of the ladies who has "stopped by" has been beautiful, intelligent, sexy and classy in their pics and in their words. Any man would be lucky to find himself in a relationship with these ladies.

I liked Starr's comment. I think when a man sees a pic of an attractive woman, that's what he sees - an attractive woman, not an ethnicity.

Though I concur with Starr2367, I would also have to say (from personal experience) that it is the curiosity factor more than half the time. And it's not just white men. I would say when you are dating outside of your race, make sure he's not in it for *experimentational reasons alone. You'd definitely be shooting yourself in the foot...

I would say they are picky in the look of the women they would like to date and would prefer to do the choosing, rather than be chosen, so they don't specify their preference. Also, maybe they fear that white women won't be interested in them if they admit to preferring other races and they want to keep this a secret.

I'd imagine that sometimes they might just be following a blog or forum entry out of curiosity over who wrote it, or you turned up in a search when they were looking for women in their area. I've probably been viewed over 100 times, but only got two emails out of it.

Hey there, just saw your blog. Well, what I would think that some men are curious and can appreciate all different kinds of women, when others are very specific. I guess if you see that their specifications are not matched w/ who you are you can take it as a compliment, and or just that you wouldn't want to date such a closed minded fool. LOL Have a good one.
