A conversation this morning prompted this question. What are your favorite movie lines and why? A couple of mine are: Marlon Brando from "On the Waterfront"..."I coulda been a contender, I coulda been somebody" Olympia Dukakis from Steel Magnolias.."The only thing that separates us from the animals is our ability to accessorize." Bill Murray in Caddyshack.."Cinderella story, outta nowhere, former greenskeeper, now about to be the Masters Champion. It looks like a miracle, it's in the hole! it's in the hole!"

Re: TripleS write: Alfredo: Living here day by day, you think it's the center of the world. You believe nothing will ever change. Then you leave: a year, two years. When you come back, everything's changed. The threads broken. What you came to find isn't there. What was yours is gone. You have to go away for a long time... many years... before you can come back and find your people. The land where you were born. But now, no. It's not possible. Right now you're blinder than I am. Salvatore: Who said that? Gary Cooper? James Stewart? Henry Fonda? Eh? Alfredo: No, Toto. Nobody said it. This time it's all me. Life isn't like in the movies. Life... is much harder. Cinema Paradisio (one of my favs)

I hadn't seen this post..Cinema Paradiso is also one of my favorites. I listen to the soundtrack from that movie all the time!

I'm terrible at this stuff...but 2 come to mind. Jack Nicholson "Truth? You CAN'T HANDLE THE TRUTH!" (I forget the name of the movie now...see?? terrible!) And of course the everloving..."Stop...you had me at Hello!" (Jerry MacGuire) Funny, both had Tom Cruise in it, though I'm not a huge TC fan per se, but don't mind looking at him on the screen. Newman!!! ACK!!!! Bad visual and evokes gag reflex!

"Chicks dig me, cause I rarely wear underwear. And when I do, it's usually something unusual". Bill Murray in Stripes "Where's the rest of that moose?" Dudley Moore in Arthur "I'll be back" Arnold Schwartzeneger in most of his movies, the best being The Terminator

Kevin Costner in JFK- "If we had learned on November 22, 1963 that the Premier of Russia had been shot from a Moscow office building by a lowly Capitalist sympathizer who was then himself liquidated inside of 48 hours while surrounded by armed guards? We would assume that a coupe d'e tat and a transfer of power had just taken place in the Soviet Union."

Mariana, I've heard about Terry Gilliam's movie, but not seen it. I'll make an effort to find it. Haven't watched Fear and Loathing, because I am a HUGE Hunter S. Thompson fan and was worried that it would be disappointing compared to the book. I made this sacrifice even though Johnny Depp is in the movie and you know how I feel about Mr. Depp ;) "The only thing that really worried me was the ether. There is nothing in the world more helpless and irresponsible and depraved than a man in the depths of an ether binge, and I knew we'd get into that rotten stuff pretty soon." Raoul Duke

Re: winehrh write: Mariana...song still in my head ;) SSS...In my opinion, Monty Python's Holy Grail is the funniest movie ever made! "Bring out yer dead" "Oh, what sad times are these when passing ruffians can say Ni at will to old ladies. There is a pestilence upon this land, nothing is sacred. Even those who arrange and design shrubberies are under considerable economic stress in this period in history." "I don't want to talk to you no more, you empty headed animal food trough wiper. I fart in your general direction. Your mother was a hamster and your father smelt of elderberries."

LMAO! It should be required viewing...for everyone!
