Now I know who you are, it's so obvious. Typos are different than consistently misspelled words. And in the blogs this is all we have to represent who we are. When I get a chat session that starts out like this; "how r u?" Text talk is for texting on a cell phone. I click the "X". This tells me that he doesn't care enough to write normal. Yes, I make exceptions for people who have English as their second, or third language....that is no problem. BUT to see a CEO or Pilot .....consistently getting their "there/their, or two/too/ to" mixed up drives me crazy. How did they get that far in life I wonder? Misspelled words turn me completely off and I am not alone. Intelligence is very important to me and to many people. Stupid is as stupid does They can be full of love, sexy ..gorgeous....but if they can't hold an intelligent conversation, forget it. And believe it or not, when we chat we are conversing.... it IS a conversation. ~T~

does grammar makes sense to you? for example... if i say i have four apples, then you already know that there is more than one apples right? then why the freaking hell do i have to add 's'? why is some verbs conjugated into the past tense with just adding ed while others are known as 'irregular verbs' and required a different set of rules? who the hell make these stupid ass rules to complicate the language i wonder? while it might be true that it's a sign of intelligent when someone speaks proper English... but language is only one type of intelligences a person can possess. i understand that you figured if someone was born here and speak English all their lives, they should know more than the immigrant such as i, but maybe they just don't get it... like me. i mean i hate grammar because it's one of those human inventions that doesn't make sense. there are 11 types of intelligence i believe. and there are so many languages; mechanical, mathematical, physics, sports, and so on. i know someone who was born here and who knows probably about 10,000 words but when it comes to math... he's a genius. he can solve any problems, and when he tries to explain to you how to solve the problem he uses math language and for an average person... he's speaking some source of alliance language. so don't be so fast at judging people just by their words or choices of words. just because someone misspell the word to/too/two because they don't know the differences when it comes to spelling wise, doesn't mean this person is any less intelligent than any other person. i believe that we are all gifted in some ways, that is the wonder of genetic. i love your blogs of outrageous expressive ideas.

I am in-between on this. I guess if a person really can't spell to save themselves in dating terms that would be a turn off. I like to be able to have a half decent conversation both written and spoken. I don't mind abbreviations such as - how r u? I do that all the time. I know the people I chat to can actually spell correctly. Typos make us human. I wouldn't put down a person who cannot spell or be quick to judge. I am just a softy I just feel sorry for people. However people have different abilities. For instance a friend of mine was poor at maths and english but his talent was in wood work and he is in championships for mountain biking. Some people are more practical. So spelling perhaps indicates a little about the individual, although people tend to view it as a full picture. The reliance on spell check these days does not help. I think if universities would mark students down harshly for spelling during exams. I bet less than half would pass. sarah :-o
