This was given to me by a dear friend, years ago. I found it while I was cleaning out my closet today and thought that the members here in Blogland would appreciate me sharing it with them. There is so much truth in the words to follow.... HOW DO YOU LIVE YOUR DASH I read of a man who stood to speak At the funeral of a friend. He referred to the dates on her tombstone From the beginning...to the end. He noted that first came her date of birth And spoke the following date with tears, But he said what mattered most of all Was the dash between those years.(1924-2004) For that dash represents all the time That she spent alive on earth... And now only those who loved her.. Know what that little line is worth. For it matters not, how much we own; The cars....the house...the cash, What matters is how we live and love.. And how we spend our dash. So think about this long and hard... Are there things you'd like to change? For you never know how much time is left, That can still be rearranged. If we could just slow down enough To consider what's true and real, And always try to understand The way other people feel. And be less quick to anger, And show appreciation more And love the people in our lives Like we've never loved before. If we treat each other with respect, And more often wear a smile... Remembering that this special dash Might only last a little while. So when your eulogy's being read With your lifes actions to rehash... Would you be proud of the things they say... About how you spent your dash?

Larry Darling.. I have a feeling that you have already accomplished the things you wish people to speak of you when you are gone. I would like to think that I have, as well. But just in case, I will continue to be the very best that I can be, everyday. Thank you, Larry. Hugs to you, T.

Ahh my dearest Tgirl, The last thing anyone should want said at their eulogy is how much wealth or possessions they accumulated in life. The only things I hope are said about me would be: #1 I was a loyal, loving, and wise father and companion to my children and my wife. #2 That my being alive made at least one persons life better for having known me......

Hello Queen... Thank you and it is great to be back and actually wanting to write again. I am glad that your dash is being spent appreciating, and being thankful for all of the gifts in your life. I try and count my blessings each and every day, as well. Love the kitty pictures, by the way. I am a huge kitty cat fan!(smile) Vida, I am glad that you too, are spending your dash in such a positive way. The world would be a much sweeter place if people would just slow down a bit and take a really good look at the things that are truly precious in their lives. Love and Life to you, Dear. Hugs, T.

Good to see you back! Sometimes we get so focused on what we take a moment to give thanks to those around us in our journey through this life. I give thanks now for all the good in my life. For all the people, all the animals, and the glory of nature. I also give thanks for all the wonderful people here in the Sacred Blogs of MM.

People may not remember what you say or do, but they will remember how you made them feel.

I agree with boldnsexy. Mr. Will's eulogy just wouldn't be complete without mentioning some of his "famous" Blogland bestsellers. lol Hopefully, it will be a very long time before "that" subject becomes an issue. BluEyz2006, Thank you for stopping in, and I am glad that you enjoyed what you read here. I hope that your dash is an amazing one, as well. Hugs to all, T.

Awww Mr. Will... How sweet you are for saying that, but MissT only writes when something jumps out and says "WRITE MissT".LOL I bet between the two of us we could load this place up with topics if we really wanted to now, couldn't we? Wink I hope that everyone who reads this sends it on to someone that they love. It is such a powerful message, as we are only on this earth for a very short time. I think that we should make our time count with lots of smiles and hugs. Just my opinion, once again. Hugs to all, T.

Hello Boldnsexy, Yes, I thought that it was such an honest, very touching, view of how we live our lives and how we treat others while we are here. I still can't read it without tears rolling down my cheeks every time. It is just so true...life is short as it is, and who knows what tomorrow will bring. I made some definite changes in my life after reading this for the first time. Changes for the better, and I am very happy with my "dash" these days. Please pass this on to anyone and everyone that you know, by all means. Hugs and well wishes to you, Dear. T.
