All roads lead to Oregon, or at least in my case they do. After 30+ years in Alaska, I'm heading home. I just accepted a new job in Bend, Oregon and am leaving Alaska. It's a fantastic job and I'll be closer to family, not to mention the fact that I won't have to spend the winter here. Always a bonus. A part of me is torn about leaving this very special place and my friends that have been my surrogate family over the years. I shall miss "The Last Frontier" and all the things that make it special. Oh, and did I mention...I finally got my pony, dammit. She's waiting for me in Oregon! Along with all those great wines!

Peri, It is amazing how much "stuff" one can accumulate. I have cleared out reams of old paperwork and things. Leaving me to wonder, do I really need golf score cards from 5 years ago? How about my sling from the shoulder surgery last winter? I think not!

the ONLY ONE good thing about moving is that you get a chance to sort through your stuff, find long lost valuables and important papers... then wonder how on earth you could accumulate and accomodate so much "crap", take a deep breath and get rid of half of it Hang in there, Wine, Bend is waiting for ya!

Scarlett, Thank you, I'm very excited, but right now I'm in moving hell. How did I get this much stuff in this little apartment? ~T~ Good to see you girl! I'm going crazy right now, but very happy! I fully plan on a girls weekend this winter, we will go skiing at Bachelor and then hang out at some very cool winery's! L

What a brave and wise move! I love Oregon. I grew up in Lake Oswego and the predominant members of my immediate and extended family are still in the Portland area. My brother lives near Bend, and we vacation in Black Butte several times a year. I currently live in the Uk but am about to move 'home' - LA at first, for biz reasons, but plan to live near Portland, where the rest of our family is. Would be lovely to chat about your move and how you are liking it!

To true Mariana! But, I thought I'd put it away for the Canadian road trip. They might think I'm their queen and not let me out!

Peri, you are too funny! The packing thing is already stressing me out and I haven't even started. Do you have any tips for packing the tiara to minimize tarnish? Thanks Trish & Puck, I guess I'm officially a member of the PNW club now. I plan on spending a few weekends a year in Seattle at Safeco Field. Queen, that pony is a little small for me ;) but very, very cute. Now, I need some of those bubbles for packing. Healey, I've said it before, "Diligence shall be my middle name". The words Oregon Pinot and reasonably priced are fast becoming an oxymoron. But I will make it my mission to visit every winery in Oregon for you! BTW, my beloved Red Sox begin a 3 game series with those devil Yankees today, with a 7 game lead, so I may not be able to talk for a couple of days.

That is sooo exciting! You will be starting a new life. Here is a pony in the meantime. Please be careful if you are drinking wine and looking at him...you will be seeing swirling spots. May the spirit of the ponies be with you!

People may not remember what you say or do, but they will remember how you made them feel.

Thanks girls, you are all too sweet. What's this I hear about a tour in a pink cadillac? Would you mind cruising this way? We could make it a real road trip!

Congrats on the new job! Need bubble wrap? I've got tons of the stuff. Although moving is stressful, a new life is waiting for you in Oregon. All the best!
