Ok, Barry Bonds is one home run away from passing Hank Aaron's record. Do you think he's deserving of being considered a valued player based on the steriod issues that clouds around him? I have his rookie cards, and since his early days his overall size has increased dramatically. Far beyond what would deem "normal". I also saw side by side comparison of Barry in his early playing days, and a recent pic and WOW he definately has some explaining to do. Id like to think that he's achieved this record breaking status based on hard work, and talent. Kind of like the players of way back when... They actually did earn those record holding titles based on talent and hard work. It seems the more money these athletes make the further removed from the sport they become. Its insane to pay these players 50+ million dollars. Im all for earning a large salary but they are over paid for as much contraversy that seems to come up every year... In almost every sport.

Hi Crazybeautiful, Ive always liked your points of view. I completely agree with your thoughts. Barry deserves the benefit of the doubt until proven guilty of anything. And you're right he is an amazing athlete. Thanks for your thoughts

Here's my opinion on the steroid issue. Back when Mark McQuire and Sammy Sosa were slugging it out with homeruns, it really came to the forefront. I definitely think they, and a lot of others, were using "enhancements". I think that is wrong, dead wrong in some cases. But I do think you have to be a superb athlete to be a Barry Bonds these days, with or without enhancements. Steroids won't necessarily make you great, it just helps you along. You have to have the ability first. It would be great if everyone just did their thing with their own natural ability. But at soon as one guy goes outside the guidelines, then the others have to in order to catch up. It's basically a Catch-22. Steriods and enhancements play a role across all sporting events, it seems. Look at the Tour De France recently. It is a dang shame. These athletes are looking for anything to give them the edge, in a world of sports where a fraction of a second separates the winners from the losers. So until EVERYONE is clean, the playing field will not be level. Records are being broken everywhere. But I do think there needs to be an understanding, or asterik if you will, in the record books, that these athletes are NOT the same as the athletes of old. We are in the era of the BIONIC man and woman. JMHO
