Hi Gang, Well the holiday "hoopla' has died down for a few days till revisited on New Year's Eve. The last gifts were opened, the eggnog drunk, the cookies eaten and now it's time to reflect on Christmas "06. I feel blessed at this time to have my girls all around me with their boyrfriends, as well, all hanging out comfortably at my house. We enjoyed a meal and conversation, but mostly just enjoyed the time together as a family! I think my favorite gift of all was not one that came from the mall but the letter my youngest daughter had written me, from her heart about being a good mom one that listens to her and thatshe can depend on. That truly touched my heart!! So..reflecting on that thought...I am wondering what gift this year was YOUR favorite. Something that deeply touched you, by the thoughtfulness of it, from the giver that gave it or simply for just being remembered at Christmas time. Maybe it was the kind words of an old friend or an unexpected gift from a neighbor. Please share!

I just finished packing in my hotel room. My train leaves in a few hours, back home to Toronto and I'm lying on the king-sized bed with my laptop, getting a few more MM-isms in before I have to go. I packed every little gift my 22 year old, beautiful daughter gave me away like it was gold filigree ... my CD's and DVD's, my little book on "Relaxation Tips For Moms." LOL I got fuzzy warm socks from her and jewellery. Oh! And she's into "scrap-booking" now, and she made me this beautiful photo album of pictures of her and I, mom and "Heath," with pretty paper and little titles and captions. Funny thing is, I've started one for HER that I was going to give her for her birthday in February! lol But I treasure the hugs and the kisses I got in profusion from her, the most. Oh ... I don't want to leave for home now. I just went and made myself cry ... doofus Katherine. 'Scuse me ........

A few years ago, I had all seven of my siblings think of 12 or more of their favorite memories situated around our mom. Could be any memory at all, not just good ones ... anything from our lives that stood out to them. I did the same. One of my sisters found a lovely album with a wooden cover that she decorated and sent to our mom. Then we all sent mom our memories to put in the album. Now each year, we keep adding more. We don't even wait for holidays, if we remember something or have some new memory to add, we write it down and send it to her. She has said over and over that this gift was the most special she's ever gotten. This year for Christmas, my mom (who is now 75) took the time to make us all our own memory books. She started out with facts of her life: her growing up years, things from her childhood, stories about her parents and other relatives, etc. on up to when we were each born and some of her favorite stories about each of us kids. It was totally awsome! And it's something I can pass on to my own children and when they were older, they can read all about their grandma and great grandparents. This is definately the best gift ever for me ... now I will have "mom" with me forever.

Giving gifts. . . seriously getting them is nice but giving and seeing the excitement is the best. I gave my 8 yr old nephew this toy hes been begging for he was sooo excited. And I gave my mom the ipod shuffle and she loves it. Hasnt figured it out yet but cant quit squealing about how cute it is.

I didn't get anything too special for Christmas. I usually don't ask for much. What I love about Christmas is giving gifts. People's faces just light up & are so happy to get one (no matter how little, big, inexpensive, or expensive). That's what fun about Christmas!!!
