1. My son turns 10 years old today, and is still alive and well, and in no way, a juvenile delinquent. 2. I started dating a guy named James that I met on Space the first week of November, and we're still together. He's also a genuinely decent guy, and has put any fears of mine to rest as far as my wondering if I only attract or am attracted to jerks, because he's definitely NOT one. And possibly best of all... 3. After almost two years without a vehicle, I finally have one again, and my son and I are standing in front of it in the picture. It's a 1988 Chevrolet Blazer that used to belong to my previous bf of eighteen months, Mark. I have to speak nice of him now, because I couldn't come up with as much as he'd wanted for it ($1700), because nobody would give me a loan due to insufficient credit. He let me pay him $700 of it of front, and then co-signed on a loan with me for the other $1000. The loan officially went through this Monday, and I paid him the $700 and he transferred the title over then, though I'd been driving it since that Thursday evening. Merry Christmas to ME!!

AAI, I can certainly relate to what you're saying. I'm so happy for you and wish you everlasting love and happiness. My relationship is fairly new as well. Met Alan the 3rd week of October and we started dating regularly around mid November and became exclusive soon thereafter. Who knows what the future will bring but we're both going to give this our best and see where our relationship goes. So far, so good. Life is good!

Dear Santa, I'm not too worried about whether you bring ME anything. Just make sure you bring my son something, since he's been nice all year long (well, except for the time he hid my mother's credit card hoping to get a reward for finding), and you two go WAY back.

AsianAura, I don't have any pictures of James and me together, because I've never had my camera on me when there were any other people around who could have taken one, but I do have one of him by himself that was on the front of his profile. He'd let himself grow a mustache, so he had one when we first met, and I thought he kind of looked like a dork at first, but he got rid of it right after Thanksgiving. I wouldn't go so far as to say I've actually found love, because I suspect he and I are both a tad phobic of saying the L-word out loud, but just about anything else short of that, we'll admit to. When we see each other after a long absence, we both can at least say things like "I missed you!" "I thought about you all the time." That's a heck of a lot more than any previous guy's been able to admit to me, or that I've been able to say out loud WITHOUT thinking I'd probably scare the guy off.

Your entry brought me a smile. It goes to show that there really is a God. Bless you and your little one not just during this special time of the year but through out all the years to come.

Pauline, I'm definitely happy about both James and having a car again. I really didn't think anyone but the most desperate of men would ever date me more than once or twice if they lived any significant distance at all from me once they realized I couldn't take turns with them driving to visit the other person. He's been really understanding about it, and has managed to see me almost every week, even though his vehicle is a gas guzzling truck that only gets about 9 mpg and he lives about 42 miles away from me. I feel a lot better knowing that I can do my fair share now, even if I haven't gone to his city yet because of things being really crazy on both our ends due to work and families during the holiday season and such.

Trey, I definitely consider this guy a "keeper." I know slightly under two months isn't long by most people's standards, but by mine, anything over one month only happens once in a blue moon pretty much. I'm used to them lasting about as long as one of those red-shirted security guards on the original "Star Trek." The milk in my refrigerator usually had a longer shelf life than my "relationships." This one doesn't seem to be going anywhere, so long as I don't get him fired from his job. You see, he works for AT&T, and occasionally, they'll assign him to MY city, and when they do, if I'm off work, he'll try to stop by. He IS allowed a 45 minute lunch, but it typically ends up going over two hours. And the big bosses know, because they've got GPS tracking devices on the work trucks, so they KNOW when someone's somewhere they weren't assigned to be AND for how long! I don't know if they'd buy any excuses about trying to live up to that old phone company commercial jingle that said, "Reach out and touch someone."

BLL, Well, I'm not exactly much of a religious person, but this whole month does seem borderline miraculous at times. I don't think you were around for previous blogs when I discussed my history with Mark, but to sum it up, he was divorced with three sons, and I dated him for eighteen months, only to get dumped in an email supposedly because he wanted to work things out with his ex-wife. I wondered sometimes why I bothered being so nice and faithful and all that to the guys I date, when they never returned it. This one finally did, even it took him almost a year after it was over to do it. "You took care of me all that time right after I'd lost my job, and I just wanted to do the same now that I'm in a position where I can." He'd bought a new (or at least a newer used one) vehicle, and so had an extra one, and he knew no one needed one more badly than I did. I guess when they say that "what goes around, comes around," they're not always referring to revenge. Sometimes it's the good that you do that comes back on you, even though you never thought at the time that it would.

LilBrnEyedGrl, Living without a car WAS pretty much like being a prisoner in a work release program. Unless it was somewhere where I didn't have much choice--namely work--I couldn't go anywhere when it was dark, when it was raining, too hot, too cold, too far away, etc. Mostly now that I've got one again, I want to donate some stuff I've been meaning to get rid of, get back into karaoke, take my son out more when I've got him, go to the gym more, and complete a marathon. I'm sure with the last one, I'll be talking plenty of walking breaks as needed, but that still counts as having done one!

Dear Santa, Well, after what I just posted to Sepelo, I guess that means I'm on the "naughty list" this year. You've really got the best job in the world. You know where all the bad girls live... ;)

Sepelo, I'm definitely glad to have wheels again, because I was NOT looking forward to another winter of trying to ride a bike two miles in 20 or less degree temperatures. As for the new man, I'm just glad that when that "third date rule" thing kicked in, he didn't ask any questions about how long had it been since my last time doing this. "What time is it? Oh, probably about 31 hours." Well, you know, I was really grateful to Mark about helping out with that whole car and loan thing, and I hadn't actually done anything beyond kissing with James yet at the time. Kind of brings a whole new dimension to "friends with benefits..."

Geniek, Yes, the whole no car thing definitely sucked big time. Now that I've got one again, I haven't gone as overboard as I thought I would driving, because it's as old as it is and I have this image of there being some magical number on the mileage where it'll finally give up and die, and I want to postpone that moment for as long as possible. And I couldn't take my son anywhere that wasn't within walking/biking distance without hitting someone else up for a ride, and I'm one of those people who HATES the idea of being a burden on anyone else, so even though I had a few standing offers of rides to work and such, I never really took anyone up on it. Now I can do all that by myself again.

Boopster, Well, the guy I'm with right now certainly doesn't seem to think there's anything about me he'd change as far as physically. He's constantly telling me I'm beautiful, but at the same time, I doubt he views me as just some fetish object. The only time he's even brought up the fact that I was Asian was when I was thinking out loud about, "How in the world do so many people recognize me outside of Wal-Mart?" He said it's probably because there aren't a whole lot of other Asians working there. He's got that right. There's only one other, and she's half my age. In any case, no matter how much we women like to be valued for things other than our looks, we certainly don't MIND being complimented on those!

CrazyBeautiful, I'm pretty happy for me, too. Whenever I was smiling at work, it was mostly because it was part of the job. Behind it all, my personal life pretty much sucked. Now when I look happy, it's because I actually AM.

SweetestOne, Well, 2007 pretty much HAS to be better than the first eleven months of 2006, because at least now I can get around without freezing, being rained on, being chased by dogs, etc. And now my son isn't stranded right along with me when I've got him.

Mariana, I hope you're having a Merry Christmas as well. I'm having a pretty broke one right now, but at least I had enough to get Nicky both a birthday and a Christmas present, and if I'm broke right now, it was for a good cause. A customer even gave me a $25 gift card, so my first tank full of gas was practically free. (Mark turned it over to me with a quarter tank.)
