"The Turning Point " The power of words..... Posted on May 15, 2006 at 11:27 AM
( Words ..The Turning Point ) Writing has an almost magical power: Words on paper, created by ordinary citizens, have overthrown governments and changed the course of history." ~ Joel L. Swerdlow Sometime In times of pain, discouragement and passion, nothing communicates as effectively as the written word. The power of words have the power to create or word can have a powerful effect on someone's life. We can use them as a good source to bring a good positive light to others ..we can use them to heal to soothe ..or we can use them to destroy and do evil. Words are whispers of the heart...thought by the mind... "They're only words." Some believe the school-yard taunt: "Sticks and stones can break my bones, but words can never hurt me." They're wrong. Make no mistake Words can hurt you ..or they can be a balm to the soul , heart and spirit. I'm not just referring to the caustic ones spoken (or received) tainted with sarcasm, irritation, anger or frustration, carrying an emotional punch. I'm talking about simple, everyday, normal word choices. These words, like black ice, are not an obvious danger at first glance. But, they can impact not only your life but those around you as well. So, user-beware. Words create impressions, images and expectations. They build psychological connections. They influence how we think. Since thoughts determine actions, there's a powerful connection between the words we use and the results we get. Poorly chosen words can kill enthusiasm, impact self-esteem, lower expectations and hold people back. Well chosen ones can motivate, offer hope, create vision, impact thinking and alter results. I learned that my words have power over my thoughts and actions. They also impact and influence people I speak them to. If we want to be a positive influence , we must learn to harness our word power to work for, not against us ; we must select words that create a visual of the desired outcome; and choose each word as if it mattered. It helps to think with understanding, kindness love and gentleness within our hearts. You might be surprised how much this will have a positive effect on those lives you touch... Want better results? Could you positively want...than to touch someone's heart in a positive light...We need more of this in our world today...Wouldn't you agree ??? Remember.... Check your words. They speak our silent heart thoughts.... And while I thus spoke, did there not cross your mind some thought of the physical power of words? ...Edgar Allen Poe More Quotes: Handle them carefully, for words have more power than atom bombs. --Pearl Strachan ***************** Without knowing the force of words, it is impossible to know men. --Confucius ********** Words make you think a thought. Music makes you feel a feeling. A song makes you feel a thought. --E.Y. Harbug (1898 - 1981) ************ Actions can say more than words, but without words actions can be meaningless. --Michael McEwan *********** Words have the power to both destroy and heal. When words are both true and kind, they can change our world. --Buddha ************ Many wise words are spoken in jest, but they don't compare with the number of stupid words spoken in earnest. --Sam Levenson (1911 - 1980) Humorist ********** Language is our way of communicating what we want and who we are. By using bad language, we diminish the divine spark within us that defines our humanity. --Dr. Laura Schlessinger your quotes and thought are always welcomed..... Love to all.... " Giving...As The Angels Give" A Great Truth Posted on May 15, 2006 at 10:09 AM
southernstarr2006: I send you all my love. You will be in my prayers. I believe that the love you experienced, originates from within your being. Therefore, it will always be there, if you allow it. In many spiritual disciplines, it is repeatedly said that all our experiences are but a reflection of what we feel and perceive. I do not mean to undermine your loss. Simply saying that you could not have felt such love, unless you were capable of loving--to feel/live in bliss independent of others, yet sharing that bliss with all who we come into contact with--especially, people we have an affinity for. Perhaps, I am intruding. Love, Phil C. [pacman2005]
