I have just returned home from a 30 hour stay at the VA hospital in Bay Pines, Florida

After a week of pain, little sleep, and inability to keep anything down, I finally came to the conclusion that a visit to the health care professionals was needed

In the last 30 hours I had a chest x-ray, sonagrams for heart and kidneys, a subway ride into a cat scan, multiple blood samples, and a gastro photo shoot. The technologies were amazing.

Although my patient patience was at times frustrated and confrontational the nursing staff and doctors were tolerant and professional....I wasnt the worst they have encountered.

My hats is off to those that work in health care in the personal level ....the business of Health Care isnt ALL about money and profits

Thank GOD for the VA ....the cost to me ZERO

For a couple years I 've been blaming it on lack of sleep and too much pressure from my job, but now I found out the real reason: I'm tired because I'm over worked.

The population of this country is 237 million. 104 million are retired. That leaves 133 million to do the work.

There are 85 million in school, which leaves 48 million to do the work.

Of this there are 29 million employed by the federal government, leaving 19 million to do the work. 2.8 million are in the Armed Forces, which leaves 16.2 million to do the work.

Take from the total the 14,800,000 people who work for State and City Governments and that leaves 1.4 million to do the work.

At any given time there are 188,000 people in hospitals, leaving 1,212,000 to do the work.

Now, there are 1,211,998 people in prisons. That leaves just two people to do the work.

Last week, we took some friends to a new restaurant, 'Steve's Place,' and noticed that the waiter who took our order carried a spoon in his shirt pocket. It seemed a little strange. When the busboy brought our water and utensils, I observed that he also had a spoon in his shirt pocket. Then I looked around and saw that all the staff had spoons in their pockets.

When the waiter came back to serve our soup I inquired, 'Why the spoon?' 'Well, 'he explained,'the restaurant's owner hired Andersen Consulting to revamp all of our processes. After several months of analysis, they concluded that the spoon was the most frequently dropped utensil. It represents a drop frequency of approximately 3 spoons per table per hour. If our personnel are better prepared, we can reduce the number of trips back to the kitchen and save 15 man-hours per shift.'

As luck would have it, I dropped my spoon and he replaced it with his spare. 'I'll get another spoon next time I go to the kitchen instead of making an extra trip to get it right now..'

I was impressed. I also noticed that there was a string hanging out of the waiter's fly. Looking around, I saw that all of the waiters had the same string hanging from their flies. So, before he walked off, I asked the waiter, 'Excuse me, but can you tell me why you have that string right there?' "Oh, certainly!'

Then he lowered his voice. 'Not everyone is so observant. That consulting firm I mentioned also learned that we can save time in the restroom. By tying this string to the tip of our you-know-what, we can pull it out without touching it and eliminate the need to wash our hands, shortening the time spent in the restroom by 76.39%.' No Imagination - Most are frighteningly obvious; sexist comments on nurses' groups, blasphemy on religious groups .. I kid you not.
Pedantic in the Extreme - Many trolls' preparation is so thorough, that while they waste time, they appear so ludicrous from the start that they elicit sympathetic mail - the danger is that once the group takes sides, the damage is done.
False Identity - Because they are cowards, trolls virtually never write over their own name, and often reveal their trolliness (and lack of imagination) in the chosen ID. As so many folk these days use false ID, this is not a strong indicator on its own!
Crossposting - Any post that is crossposted to several groups should be viewed as suspicious, particularly if unrelated or of opposing perspective. Why would someone do that?
Off-topic posting - Often genuine errors, but, if from an 'outsider' they deserve matter-of-fact response; if genuine, a brief apposite response is simply netiquette; if it's a troll post, you have denied it its reward.
Repetition of a question or statement is either a troll - or a pedant; either way, treatment as a troll is effective.

Why do trolls do it?

I believe that most trolls are sad people, living their lonely lives vicariously through those they see as strong and successful.

Disrupting a stable newsgroup gives the illusion of power, just as for a few, stalking a strong person allows them to think they are strong, too.

For trolls, any response is 'recognition'; they are unable to distinguish between irritation and admiration; their ego grows directly in proportion to the response, regardless of the form or content of that response.

Trolls, rather surprisingly, dispute this, claiming that it's a game or joke; this merely confirms the diagnosis; how sad do you have to be to find such mind-numbingly trivial timewasting to be funny?

I was being processed to an airplane a few weeks ago The first check point was to check my ticket, passport, and boarding pass for ID The second where one has to take all the sh** out of your pockets and have your Ba**s scanned for explosives.... They confiscated my Viagra as it was an explosive device. As a result of the scan they sent me thru a air blowing machine and again hand scanned me ???All this in the name of Home land security??? And who were these security employees???? Each and every one of them was of Arab decent....head dress et al I took out my camera to take some proof shots of the scene...and they almost took that ... THE FOLLOWING WAS SENT BY A FRIEND BE CAREFUL BOTH MEN AND WOMEN A man came over and offered his services as a painter to a female putting gas in her car and left his card. She said no ,but accepted his card out of kindness and got in the car. The man then got into a car driven by another gentleman. As the lady left the service station, she saw the men following her out of the station at the same time. Almost immediately, she started to feel dizzy and could not catch her breath. She tried to open the window and realized that the odor was on her hand; the same hand which accepted the card from the gentleman at the gas station. She then noticed the men were immediately behind her and she felt she needed to do something at that moment. She drove into the first driveway and began to honk her horn repeatedly to ask for help. The men drove away but the lady still felt pretty bad for several minutes after she could finally catch her breath. Apparently, there was a substance on the card that could have seriously injured her. This drug is called 'BURUNDANGA'and it is used by people who wish to incapacitate a victim in order to steal from or take advantage of them. This drug is four times more dangerous than the date rape drug and is transferable on simple cards. So take heed and make sure you don't accept cards at any given time alone or from someone on the streets. We are all blemished individuals....subject to our past influences, experiences and in some cases misguided growth. The question herein lies are we available to learn? Can we open ourselves to learn new or somewehat different ways of communication and behavior? Me thinks that it takes some assassination of the ego and starting afresh within a blossoming relationship....Christ only knows we dont do it on our own without outside influences and feedback. We remain complacent without someone who is worth or deserving of the effort. Dear Tink I personally do not have THE solutions to the issues you present, but I do, from the male pool have some observations. This is not a gender issue, we are all guilty and subject to this kind of behavior. In the period that I have been on here, "an off and on affair", I have had introductions, dates, and even relationships through this site. I'll take these one at a time Introductions... seem to have their own "chemistry or nots" ....chats, emails, phone calls that show promise but in the endings flitter out of their own accord,,,,some thing said.. a missed meaning, or just this person isn't connecting with what we need ....humor, patience, understanding, or the all important "TRUTH" Here in is the trip up....do we give people the truth? probably not at first,,we are still in protectself mode...in order to make things develop we need to let it loose a little at a time to test the depth of the waters, At times not fast enough and others too slow. Too shallow or off the deep end Dates ,,,,I have littered my time, travel, and self with women who promised much but delivered nothing more than MEMEMEME.(ME by the way is WE up side down and backwards).. With all the controversy about verification of who we are talking to and what they present in profiles and pictures, how do we really know? Seems to me that access to camera chat would be a solution. We know that some choose to put up pictures that are 10 years younger and 50 pounds lighter. Words on here can be misunderstood without the face projecting the eyes and facial expressions. Scammer's posting stolen pictures would be stopped in their tracks if a request for camera chat was requested It has to be a decision of each person to use the feature but it sure would cost us less in the long run considering time and money spent to visit someone near or far to witness what/who they really are What do you think??

Vietnam USMC vet with my mind and body intact Love my two children ...Leah, my sweet baby and Mike my 40th birthday present buddy.. A rich man in the heart.....for I have lived well and experienced much...To experience does not always make us grow....It is only when a path is walked with eyes open do we learn. In my younger days I walk blindly...taking the world around me for granted...only after blindness do we see true colors...I have learned the importance of love and loving as taught to us....Only after the path we walk do we understand the teaching... .And so.. I seek that woman that is my heart part as I am hers.....with respect and honor...passion and understanding...A giving and not taking....for with giving we we are open to recieve more than we expect ... In this era of immediate needs for gratification it seems we succumb to our physical impulses too hastily and often.... As in personal relationships we dont take time to become mentally or interpersonally intimate. In our intimate sexual relations, again, we rush to complete. In the journey is the bliss.. in both. Becoming friendly with the mind, emotions, body and spirit does take time and should be controled and disciplined to encourage deeper growth. Yes... magnetics must exist....that exchange of attraction that drives us, but do we rush into a relationship just because of it?. My studies of Tantric practices has brought to me a more yogish understanding of the need of not only sharing, of the body, but also the energy and spiritual intimacy that we usually dont see or take time to understand.
