I was just wondering who would click on this blog, I am trying to get some leads. I do this about every year but it hasn't worked very well for me so far, but neither has anything else I have tried. btw Bill always pays me $10 for leads, so that is another reason for the post.

WWWW~ I grew up in NYS and we always had a giant garden. My mother used to can bottles and bottles of dill pickles. We grew our own dill; all kinds of berries, rubarb, corn, squash, pumkins, beans, apple orchard, pear trees, Linden tree too. We even had Maple trees and Grandma used to make syrup. We had rabbits, chickens, ducks and geese that also made it into our pots occasionally. It sure was alot of work! Although we didn't have much money, family of five, we always ate well.
Here in Texas, I try to garden. I compost and save the seeds from squash. But alas, the soil is poor; the sun just blisters everything; and the bugs are unrelenting. This year I probably spent $50 on water alone and got maybe 3 Acorn squash, 3 Casaba squash, 1 pint of grape tomatoes and 2 bell peppers. *sigh*
Have you tried the butter squash? I had good luck with it and there is also a squash that grows in Mexico that is suppose to be hardy and a big producer. Forgot the name. I was thinking it might be Casaba, but guess not. I have had great luck with okra. It loves the heat and it doesn't take much water. It produces from spring to fall, every day..I also love to eat okra. Try it .

I didn't make either of the Vegas meetings from the old MM group but I did make the one in Galveston. It was a good group of people. Most are on FB today so I am still in contact with most of them.
