The Mayan calendar is set to end on Dec 21, 2012. There are many theories why this date ends the Mayan Calendar. Many feel that this date is the day of end times and the world will be destroyed. Others feel this will be a time of major earth disasters, space changes, and mythical planets invading our galaxy along with strange Milky Way alignments. There is talk of a pole flip causing problems all over the earth or this being when we have a second coming of Christ or the unveiling of the Antichrist.

"An Apocalypse (Greek: “lifting of the veil” or “revelation”) is a disclosure of something hidden from the majority of mankind in an era dominated by falsehood and misconception, i.e. the veil to be lifted." - Wikipedia

"Both the Hopis and Mayans recognize that we are approaching the end of a World Age... In both cases, however, the Hopi and Mayan elders do not prophesy that everything will come to an end. Rather, this is a time of transition from one World Age into another. The message they give concerns our making a choice of how we enter the future ahead. Our moving through with either resistance or acceptance will determine whether the transition will happen with cataclysmic changes or gradual peace and tranquility. The same theme can be found reflected in the prophecies of many other Native American visionaries from Black Elk to Sun Bear." - Joseph Robert Jochmans

"BIG SUR, Calif. — At twilight, not far from a cliff overlooking the Pacific Ocean, a Mayan shaman spoke of the return of Kukulkan to dozens of listeners sitting on the floor inside a yurt: As Venus, a planet of special significance to the ancient Mayans, passed directly between the Sun and Earth in June, the forces out there were heralding the return of Kukulkan, the snake deity, and the start of a new age of spiritual enlightenment in 2012.

'The cosmos is talking to us — we need to listen,' said the shaman, Miguel Angel Vergara. 'Kukulkan shines in the infinite. Kukulkan is the sacred energy beating in every atom. Kukulkan is the feathered serpent living in your heart forever.' " (New York Times, August 19, 2012)

What is so special about the Mayan Calendar?

Carl Johan Calleman (Ph.D)

"The person with no previous exposure to the Mayan Calendar will usually initially be surprised by the fact that some people today take such an interest in an ancient calendar. After all, human history has seen a high number of different calendars. Is not then the Mayan calendar just a very specialized subject of interest only to specialists or history buffs? “Why would the world today need another calendar than the Gregorian or Muslim that are currently in use, and why should this be the Mayan calendar?” some may ask.

Well, to begin with most people probably have a much too limited view of the importance of the Mayan civilization, and Native American traditions generally. In fact, at their height in the 5th to 9th centuries AD, the Mayan cities would be among the largest in the world and developed the most advanced mathematics and astronomy of their day. And so, even if the Native American civilizations hardly survived the later contact with the Europeans they were and are the carriers of a significant and irreplaceable part of the global human consciousness.

When we talk about the Mayan Calendar something profoundly different is also meant than just a system to mark off the passage of time. The Mayan Calendar is above all a prophetic calendar that may help us understand the past and foresee the future. It is a calendar of the Ages that describes how the progression of Heavens and Underworlds condition the human consciousness and thus the frames for our thoughts and actions within a given Age. The Mayan Calendar provides an exact schedule for the Cosmic Plan and the unfolding of all things that come into existence. There is now ample empirical evidence for this, something that shines new light on the age old questions of mankind. Things do exist for a reason. The reason is that they fit into the divine cosmic plan. For those that seriously engage in a study of the Mayan Calendar this soon becomes evident and the former materialist world view loses all relevance. The Mayan Calendar is a gateway to the worlds of consciousness which the majority of humanity has been blinded to through the use of false or delusory calendars.

Since everything that exists is an aspect of consciousness, and the Mayan Calendar describes the evolution of consciousness in all of its aspects, no stone is left unturned for the serious student of the Mayan Calendar. All of science is affected, all of religion is affected, all of life is affected. We are here for a reason. Time is no longer equated with money, but with spirit. Time is inspiration!"

"My own view is that this is the last chance that human beings will have to truly align themselves with the cosmic plan. It is now or never and if you do not think that the Conscious Convergence has something to do with you you probably have not studied the Mayan calendar seriously enough. Hence, there can be no proxies for your participation in the transformation of the world as the calendar comes to an end."

Has a Ph.D. in Physical Biology from the University of Stockholm and has been a Senior Researcher at the University of Washington in Seattle and a cancer expert for the WHO.

Well…my bets are on some kind of unveiling of major/global truth (maybe eyeopening and standforcing events for humakind) and something happening in relations between the moon and earth. Whats your bet?

Just entered the 21st here in Sweden now, and still alive..and hopefully that will be for a looong time, and hope we havent misread the date in anyway...so lets see whats ahead.

Ha! I'm glad you're still alive Worldmind, I think you have a lot to share still with the world in a good way :)

If I'm not mistaken, I think the 21st was the end (the last day on the calender) so the night of the 21st would be our last night?  I just think it's a great reason to party, I know I will !!

As a Christian, the reason why I don't believe the Mayan calender's ending is because we have a tribulation to go through for 7 years first and then it still won't be the end, just the end as we know the world to be.

easymanttolove...well I do agree about having lived life to the fullest and keeping high morals etc is cherishable...but not that the worried ones regarding worlds end would need to be somewhat as filthy as you describe it..as that would then apply to far too many decent people worldwide still worried..I believe its the unknown and possibility of such radical change etc that makes people worried..however much a person told loved and near ones sentenses of love etc it is never enough...so there is also a sentimental value to an ending moment...we are humans not robots, hence we are preprogrammed with such worrying feelings about the end..I think a person who would not even care about such possibilities even a bit would need to check wherein the human emotional mechanism this person inhabits a fog...denial is a greasy factor for example.

world, maybe I should try more Algots instead of this dead fish smell that I am,LoL.I'm in a birthing area with the big bulls living miles from here.springtime I often have newborn calfs, once 1 was still wet from birth.ofcourse, that often brings those pesky brown bears in for a young meal.I truly don't see how people can make it in a city.

Does it really matter when the world ends?  Or why?

If you've love completely, honor yourself, live honestly, found your joy and have managed your regrets, then what difference does it make when or how you go?

I figure the only ones worried about it are the ones filled with regret, guilt, remorse, fear and sadness.

Fishyme..well many people here cant grasp Americans "love" for weapons...I dont judge in this as I find it better to protect oneself, especially when politicians are less to be trusted nowadays...as I am wittnessing my country go under in many aspects...the backbone is almost nonexisting..such as the Defence department..just some days ago we found out that Sweden is helping Saudiarabia building superadvanced under ground arsenal and weapon storage facilities..and the people did not know and some letters "disapperad" in important official department to protect a minister...and it is a very serious crime according to our most important laws...Shocking..how can a country that has not seen war for hundreds of years actually be a grand part..Sweden is number one in the world of producing and being involved in such arms stuff if compared per capita of inhabitants...you see..the innocent might be the guilty and the guilty might be the innocent..Im shocked about this Saudi drama...Your fury friend is very cute..as I said before..you seem to lead a decent nice life...many peoples dream life...oh lets hope neither your fury friend (can I name him Algot?) or anyone else, will need to jump into any saltiness on 21/12 :-)))

Dakota35..well, regardless of race, as for me such word does not exist...I do know what you mean about sacrifice...they lived close to nature and in that sense behaved wildish but thats soooo looong back when wild was somehow a trend but they used it in coordinated ceremonial sense aswell...they were very interesting warrior people and I dont see any obsticle trusting their astromical worldrespected knowledge..their savage ways were at least right out and not hidden dressed in a nice suit designed by Politics just as we are wittnessing in the worldpolitical actions that are being conducted in hushhushy manners many times right in front of our eyes today planning to and/or actually being part of orders to slaughter innocent people. In this sense, the Mayans were outmost honest. They talked the talk and walked the walk.

hi world,up here guns are a must if your going to go in the woods hiking/camping/fishing.we do have bears and wolves that once in awhile do attack humans and kill them.thankfully i only know the words war and combat from a dictionary,i fish with many who know those words from living them.i'm one of the lucky ones,i've never been tested and hope i never will be.should i ever be,i can only hope that i don't fail.over here we cut our teeth on thorns from the start.

the furry friend in my picture is one of my many furry friends that often walk around the yard all hours of the day and night year round.living in a birthing ground i don't have many bulls.a couple of years ago 3 wolves chashed a calf one night through my yard and i found where they won the chase the next day.300 pounds eaten in 6 hours.

if don't is right with "Between the myths and sciences, the human existence changer would be the galactic alignment (due late this year end ) combined with the weakening polar shift and a solar mass ejection. The effect could bring in a new age...ie blown out electrical grids that would take decades to rebuild.. A New Stoned Age"

this furry guy will go into buckets of salt to be stored for years along with a couple of his friends.just a light touch of brown sugar adds a whole different flavor.

easymantolve, well..many people are actually considering this a bit more than bs but its interesting to hear different angles to facing such info...it shall be interesting experiencing it..hopefully it will not be experiencing how not to experience and instead, some huge hidden box shows up from earth and dust with a popup maya style clown with the word HAHA in his smiling mouth...or maybe it will not be something happening that minute but delays a while...my bet, as said, is something with the moon relation to earth and/or some mindblowing (for some) revelation/insightforcing on the global arena...

Yeah, the world will end based on their ceremonial calendar ending... not their primary calendar, but their ceremonial calendar.

Now think logically about this... if they thought the world were gonna end, do you really think they would have used the ceremonial calendar to mark it?
