Quoting Voyager:  " If the rich get over taxed and if corporations get over taxed, then America may as well kiss it's A** goodbye."

Given the fact that corporate profits are at an all time historic HIGH .....and wages are at an all time historic LOW ....one would think that corporations are doing ok and pretty much getting what they want, dominating American politics and policy!!!!

For a closer look: businessinsider.com  Dated 6/22/12.  The shaded areas indicate US recessions.

The world IS running out of potable water! But you can't tell in this country. I flew into Palm Springs a couple of weeks ago and it was just obscene the number of bright green golf courses in the midst of a completely brown desert.

V~
If you really care about water....why not start a water-conscious movement in the golf community? Write an editorial comment, write emails to your favorite golf courses. If people want to live in a desert....then don't expect Hawaii.

When I first started traveling for my work, I became disgusted by the number of newpapers, styrofoam plates, cups, juice cans in the trash after the breakfast rush.....big garbage cans just brimming with trash in hotel after hotel. After each one of my stays at a Hampton Inn...they send me a customer satisfaction survey in my email. I sent at least 10 negative feedbacks about the use of styrofoam and lack of recycling. Lately in some of the Inns, I now see recycling bins in the breakfast area and they no longer use styrofoam.  I have sent positive feedback on the changes, but I also travel with my own coffee cup.

You CAN do something V!!!

~Hope~...No government can create more land to grow food on, no government can control the weather , they can't control flooding, hurricanes or wild fires. And they can't create more water.
Nor should they have to. If people could simply practice safe sex or if people could just keep their clothes on...just sayin'.

Of course for those of you that think otherwise, I'm sure God will come to your rescue.

HA!!!  Just saw this one.

I'm sure you are right, V.  When all else fails, God will come to the rescue.

How about we members of the human race try to do something practical and constructive?  How does that saying go?  God helps those who help themselves?

Perhaps we just need to "SNIP" all men!! I mean.. the leading cause of "babies" is due to men... and what they produce in women...
If they would just wear condoms then we really wouldnt have "that many" pregnancies...
Condoms don't cause health issues like birth control pills do... and face it.. Men are furtile far more many years than women!
Maybe the government should watch all intimate acts? After all.. "BIG BROTHER" is trying to "watch" everything else anyway...
WHY NOT LET THEM INTO OUR BEDROOMS AS WELL! Might be fun!... ;)
NOTTTTT.................

~~ V Darling~~

You simply MUST make up your mind...

Do you seek government control? or not?

If we allow the government to mandate health care, amount of children per household... Etc...

WHERE DOES IT END? GUN control? Makes about as much sense to me as Republicans standing against abortions... yet believe in death penalty... or the Demos standing against death penalty.. yet choose abortion?

THE WORLD LACKS BALANCE!!

BTW..... Is this a "cap" for only women on babies?

What about men? Does this mean a MAN can have 5 children... Just has to be with different women? WHAT WOULD THIS DO TO SOCIETY???

So lets say... MEN...

If you have a child with a woman you are not married to....

THAT'S YOUR CAP! Should you ever fall in love and marry and wish to have a child..

NOPE! YOUR QUOTA HAS BEEN MET! ... Sorry Charlie~~

Women? You have a child with your first marriage and divorce and six years later want another child...

NOPE! No can do.. YOU'VE MET YOUR QUOTA!

The government needs to concern themselves more with how to fix dirty water, rebuild the economy and STAY OUT OF OUR BUSINESS!!

OOOOH, just caught this one.  V, I'm surely praying that God will do those needed rescues.

As for water--have we all gone mad?  There is the same amount of water on the planet that there always has been.  It's just a matter of where it is at any given time.   And, of course, how much has been infected by acidity, how much is just plain polluted, etc., etc., etc. But the water of earth is the water of earth is the water of earth.  Always has been and, as far as anyone can tell, always will be.

We are not running out of water.  We are just, perhaps, running out of clean water where it's needed.  And please don't anyone tell me about deserts that are too dry to sustain life where folks are currently trying to do just that:  sustain life.  Any loony who chooses to live in a waterless desert when he/she could move to a wetter land....  Well, I can't speak those words on a public blog.

Dear "Blender Spinner"...

We are happy to announce there is plenty of virgin land to grow vegetation on.. plenty of non-virgin land to rebuild for housing people.... and plenty of water to recycle and use.. (Have you seen the map... 3/4 of it is BLUE!!! LOL)

AND.. further.... we have the knowledge of how to impliment changes in society..

BUT... THE GOVERNMENT MANDATING ANYTHING IS A NO GO!!

The issue does not lie within the number of people on the earth.. And if everyone kept their clothes on.. (Seems to me... we produce a happier society if people in fact ARE having sex!!) Less road rage, violence and crime all together.. (As stated in Legally Blonde.. "Happy people just don't kill people!")

But yet, we have since established how people ABUSE the planet.. AND our systems... is where we lack structure and balance....

For those who have never had children.. I sum it up similarily to the people complaining about taxes....

WHEN THEY'VE NEVER PAID THEM BEFORE...

Just sayin....

Hahaha   Blender Spinner... Good one! I would reccomend getting the KitchenAid if you're out shopping for one...Really fierce ;-)

London feels deserted these days , rain , slipping economy , taxes  ...hmmmm who knows? perhaps the population has already started to decrease here? could  that equate to "people are not having sex in London lately?" ....

V, you were very missed at the Jubilee...I kept popping my head out from the carriage to see if you're not riding along naked on a horse but no, no sign of you ;-)

Her Majesty looked sad to me, first impression as I am not british and not used to her impenetrable enduring poses as others have pointed out....  Funny though that Charles still can't snap out of calling her "Mummy"...;-)

...Talk about a molly coddler!... ;-D

Well "Blender Spinner"...
I suppose there will just have to be another "Big Bang" leaving another world with monkeys to evolve into people so that batch can destroy their world! :)
We are definitely over populated.. but the government forcing us to not have babis is NOT the answer.. In fact the government taking over anything in our lives usually leads to disaster!

~~ V~~ Laughing @ this... YOU, YOU, YOU.... ALWAYS STIRRING THAT POT!! (Perhaps cuz you don't have enough love in your life to keep you busy and bounce on your knees? LOL)

There is NOTHING, NOTHING, NOTHING... more loving than that of having a child... I "Fell in LOVE with my children" and they are all I continued LOVNG through it all..

BACKGROUND: ABORTION @ 19.. Pregnant with the "donor" of all 3 of my offspring at 22.. as I did not feel having another abortion would be "right." In saying this.. I AM a  PRO-CHOICE REPUBLICAN now.. who feels IF one believes in GOD.... let them answer to their choices.... I just do NOT feel the government placing "restraints" is affective.. or right!

So when I got pregnant with my son.. THERE WAS NO DESIRE TO BE A MOM.. I held a desire to do what was "correct" in my HEART...

The WORLD IS OVER POPULATED...

BUT...

THIS IS DUE TO PLACES AS AFRICA WHERE ONES ARE NOT AS EDUCATED AS TO HOW TO KEEP FROM GETTING PREGGO.. OR WEALTHY ENOUGH TO PASS OUT CONDOMS!!

SEX.. WILL NEVER CEASE... and the major onset of this is..

BABIES!!

I have been further "offshore" than most.. about 140 miles I think... So, I've seen the debris, waste etc... IT'S DISGUSTING!

I've also owned homes with swimming pools possibly growing malaria at one tme.. AMAZING WHAT CHLORINE CAN DO! LOL

WATER is NOT our issue, being 3/4 of planet is water! (Though it is disheartening to see what happens!) ONE DROP of bleach kills aids virus.. I think our water will be okay..

HOWEVER... The U.S...... is NOT over-populated in regard to other countries.. We dont come close to other countries who lack in sexual education and awareness and access of condoms, abortions, etc...  to take care of this...  MOST do NOT have 19 babies!! I DO beleive though.. People should not play "Mother Nature" and I am NOT an advocate of messing with "Mother Nature" with invitro, etc.. TOO MANY STARVING BABIES OUT THERE! ADOPT ONE! or 2 .. or 19!! if you can!!)

There is plenty of land AND water left in the U S of A... But if it is too "nasty" to clean .. or there is no funding to fix it or utilize it.. WE HAVE A PROBLEM!

I stand by my conviction for the states.. The issue isn't over crowding.. HERE..

It's LACK OF ENVIRONMENTAL RESPECT... AND LACK OF ECONOMIC RESOLUTION!

BESIDES...  IF WE QUIT HAVING "BABIES".. HOW YOU GONNA FIND YOUR NEXT DATE? Heehee~~

Now quit rolling out on wrong side of the bed and give us a weeks notice when you go on your tyrades! LOL (I agree with FIQUE on that! Haha...)

Love ya! ;)

Nah! I was just about to call it a day and conclude that this is just another peaceful day at the blogs and I haven't missed anything...when I see this little gem of a comment that is about to spawn an international racial debate;-)

Add a couple of misspells and language barrier plus online translatores...hehehe.... and you will soon have a war on genders, race, religion ( why not, since some here actually believe GOD makes babies...)

V darling... I think you are having a very selfish " I hate everything day" . You should have at least announced a week before so that I could join in and prepare a hate theme myself . I had such a shitty week ( am I allowed to say "shitty" here? ...though compared to the moratorium this is peanuts baby..)

I believe most people that have a pea or two in their heads will not pop more than 2 kids. And if they do than I shall delete them from my dance card . Yes, the rest out there are just people more or less educated that work hard daily at finding reasons and excuses for their own caprice of creating a whole range of Mini-Me.

One Mini-Me is enough, or should be enough to escape public outcry for not having passed your brilliant genes or to have disappointed your families that were looking forward to see which one of you does the  baby look after. God forbid you remarry cause you need to start all over again!

What utter BS!

The planet is overpopulated, children in need of parents are dying and there is no need to have more babies. Not from such "brilliant minds" anyway. The size of the population needs to decrease not to be maintaned by stupid outdated idealistic statistics that claim 2.2 children per person will guarantee our race's  preservation. Really? Preservation for what? We'll pretty soon eat eachother....

And ultimately what this guyis saying is 5 years of very fulfilling non -baby making sexual activities in a relationship that ultimately will survive or break because of this "baby need " anyway . I have no idea what the statistic will look like in terms of decrease in the population number but what is the big deal? It can only help...and perhaps more lovemaking will make a better world?  I feel the need to LOL ...

You want to be a mother or a father because you have something to offer to a child not just to bring it into this world and hand it a rope to hang itself?... then go and adopt a child in this 5 years and show what you are capable of by fixing other people's mistakes or misfortunes that brought that child to that position.

I don't have kids, I had one but I still don't believe that because I have none someone outthere should be popping 3 or 4 to "even" me out...

Hell, it takes more than that to even me or my genes..;-)

V,

You have started a bit of a conundrum.  The government of China has tried a procreation limitation and 1) It worked 2) They want to remove the law now and the people don't want the restriction to end.  They love their lives.  They love spoiling their 1.5 children (or whatever it is).

My question is:  Do you mind the number children or do you mind the issue of who supports them?  In some cases the individual or parents are supporting the children.  In some cases it is like irresponsible people who do not have means to support 1 or 2 children but go on to have 9. Do they not care for the life they created?  Was it an accident?  Was it selfishness. Are they human and humane or acting like animals and not thinking about it as a conscious choice? I can hardly bear to look at the pictures of these innocents with flies on their faces and nothing to eat. Yet the mother sits next to them, almost motionless from malnutrition.

If you are only worried that we stop the population growth, how could it be done?

~CnC

Quoting Voyager54:

...NO procreation for 5 years. You heard me right!  No making babies for five years!  The world , mankind as we know it will be a wasteland within 150 years at present birth rates.

We owe it to our fellow humans to do the right thing.

Anybody selfish enough to have popped out more than 2 kids should be ashamed for being a direct link to a future catastrophe.

And that one family on TV , pooping out 19 kids...what is that, some sort of joke?!

At the turn of the 20th century, the year 1900, there were  TWO BILLION people on the planet.
At the turn of the 21st century, the year 2000, only 100 years , there were close to SEVEN BILLION.

There won't be enough fresh water in a hundred years or less.

If you have a child today , he or she will be destined for a life which you can't begin to imagine. Do you want to subject your off spring to such a struggle?
Not too far in the future, I'm sure, it will be mandatory to have only one child...governments may even go so far as to sterilize you via the public water systems.
Some of you may think I'm an alarmist. Well, maybe, I don't have kids. I won't ever have kids. But many of you do. Or you have grown kids and hope they make you a grandparent...THAT is being selfish! On your part, not mine.

When I was a child, around 10 or 11, I announced to my mother than I didn't ever want to have kids.  I had a zillion reasons for that, but she didn't want to hear one of them.  She simply threw on me the age-old reasons why a woman MUST have kids.  The more I protested that I didn't want to have kids anyway, the angrier and more red in the face she got.  Finally, she screamed at me--and I do mean screamed--that a woman wanting to having kids was pure instinct and I WOULD have them whether I liked it or not.--mainly because she thought I must.

I never did.

I always thought her irrational argument was a case of "The woman doth protest too much."

LOL

Yep. I agree.
But Mother Nature has a way of balancing things out, though..... with diseases such as smallpox, all the many deadly flu bugs, AIDS and that new one called Chagas from Kissing Bugs that is like AIDS (see today on Yahoo News), earthquakes, hurricanes, tornadoes, floods, tsunamis, and other environmental disasters... and more.
One should not mess with Mother Nature. She is powerful and will take control when enough is enough.......... BeWell

DO YOU HAVE SCOTCH IN THAT WATER YOU'RE DRINKING! LOL
There ARE an awful lot of people in the world... BUT... I think it will serve us all better to consider caring for the planet and the world wide economy first rather than try to have the government mandate ANYTHING!!
I have 3 children and I am NOT ashamed I had more than 1 or 2!! They are and will be productive members of society...
FOCUS on planet and economy... And in reality.. I find many people who chose NOT to have children were the ones who are most selfish. But at least they knew this about themselves that they would not care to make the sacrifices parents must make..
*HAIL TO THE GRAND-BABIES!
*Stir that pot! LOL...

Stirring the pot again! Note not a question, but a statement of fact! The ones who don't have babies make up for the ones who do. That is the way it should work, isn't it?

I think our main problem is that we waste too much. We waste soo much food and water, material junk. Resources are not shared.
I do think that you should not have children unless you can afford to have them.
They say farming of the future will be in these high rise buildings and protein will be from insects.
I heard something the other day about millions being spent on aid to africa but on the other hand the EU is destroying african farmers international trade by subsidising  EU produce so its cheaper than  african produce.
