Quoting Conyersguy:
It depends upon the person.¿ If I were a woman, my rule would be 10 miles, UNLESS I preferred to be way from MY home territory¿a few more miles than that, in case he turned out to be stalkerish.......OR, if¿I planned to visit a farther-away place ANYWAY.¿ But too many people are not what they represent themselves to be to venture farther, primarily for security reasons.¿ There are exceptions, of course, but they should be oh-so-well documented and vetted.¿ ¿ For me, I would go anywhere in North America, South America or Europe.¿ BUT, again the farther the distance, the more amazing the connection must be.¿ And the timing, and the circumstances of MY life schedule.¿ Some times of the year, I couldn't get to Europe.¿¿ And, let's face it, the odds of that one in a million connection between a woman from another culture, and a good ol' boy from GA are microscopically slim.¿ And we have to be cognizant of the logistics of life AFTER first date, if we are looking for a long term relationship.¿ It is one thing to make a date, quite another to make arrangements for enough exposure to build a relationship, unless one party is free enough from obligations to just up and move after a date or two.¿ I can't imagine such a swift progression myself, but some people do it and make it work, at least for a while.:) ¿ So, I evaluate the quality of the connection, and the ability of both us to progress PAST an intial meeting in judging whether a trip is worth it, since I am looking for (the last) long term relationship, not just to meet-and-greet another woman in¿another town.¿ And it would have to be mostly HER flexibility, because I am¿un-relocateable, due to the joys of parenthood. But, if we both think the connection amazing, CURRENT pics, web cams, phone calls, etc., I would not rule out meeting someone because of distance. ¿ AND, if you are just talking DATING, there can be an ADDED joy in making a 'road trip' out of it.¿ If I were only looking to date, I would most certainly enjoy the added exotic component of the travel.¿ A woman in California could be a welcome vacation from everyday life.¿ A man in Toronto could be an exotic liason, IF that is what you'e looking for.¿ Or one who will meet you in Antigua, for example.¿¿ But, these type 'first meetings' carry a greater risk of sucking (and not in the good way):):):), too.¿ And even for this type meetin, security should be addessed, thoroughly. ¿ ¿
