Do men feel it is a prerequisite that a woman be at least as wealthy as they are to be considered for a date? A soul mate (someone to be considered seriously in the dating game)? What is the most important attribute you seek in a date? Personally, I love to laugh, relax, and have fun the rest will come!

When you meet someone and you have that undeniable attraction, wealth or wages never enter the equation.

I'm old school, the man pays for normal date type thingees.

Women spend more money on makeup, hair salons. nail salons, clothing and lingerie and expensive perfume.  If you look and smell great, it's money well spent.

When you become a couple you make decisions together.. it's a partnership.  If you want to go on a vacation and the guy can't spring for the whole thing it's acceptable for a woman to contribute.  Some men might not be comfortable with that.

I can't speak for the younger generation of men however, they seem to embrace different values than geezers like me.

The attitudes and habits that may go along with various income levels may be more of a deterrent than concern over her income or lack of it.

For me I don’t think there is any one thing.  More like a set of desirable attributes.  Plus a few deal breakers.

roc said it very well.  No sense me repeating it.

In most societies, statistically speaking women don't have equal income for the same work, plus most of women in this world just tire themselves day and night without ever getting paid!

In the US, there are more women who make as much or more money than men than in other countries, except maybe some Northern European ones. Mostly, men can't say they want a woman to be equally wealthy, and young and beautiful, etc, since men occupy much more wealth globally in this world, if that is a prerequisite, most men would die without ever finding a woman! AND, they do want women, as long as there are no artificial womb as efficient as a woman's! Or most of them still want to have sex with a human female!!

Hi Sundance :) I'm not sure if I should type here since you may only want a man's viewpoint. I will just say that I sure hope that the majority of men don't feel the need for the woman to match their own wealth. What kind of a man is that? lol. I certainly am not going to be what they want or vice-versa.

I think if you can laugh together then you've won at least half the battle. Laughter is the best, I have to agree!

Good luck, see ya around the blogs!

While wealth affords freedom, opportunity and options, money is only useful if spent.

My first and most obvious prereq is attraction, that all elusive chemistry.  Next on my list is "smart".  To me that doesn't mean she has to have a super high IQ or a whole bunch of degrees... she's just able to navigate life with a certain amount of grace.

A killer sense of humor is a must because laughter is life's lubricant.... but all of the above fails is she's not accessible or available.
