Try out the Jaguar f type. It's not Ferari fast, but pretty close(0-60 4.2 sec and a 186 governed top speed), handles very well for 3600 lbs and sounds like no car I've ever test drove. Yes, it does look a bit like a Miata, but don't be fooled, with 495 hp this is like no Jaguar I've ever tried. Far lighter than their xkr-s. Handles much better. Jaguar has a hit with this car. Should compete well with the 9-11's, R8, ect... Give it a look.

A Z06 hits 60 in 3.7 seconds, The fastest s type tesla, in 4.2. Torque, immediate hp and video doesn't change that. It's pretty simple math. 3.7 seconds is faster than 4.2. Maybe a standard vette with an automatic is what that video is, but then it is the slowest vette vs the fastest tesla and even that would be very close to 60 and then the slowest of vettes would pass the tesla at about 80 mph.

Hey dak

I don't know how your opinion on the tesla was formed, but by their advertisement, their roadster, which they don't make anymore, and is their fastest car ever, topped out at 125mph and hit 60mph in 3.7. That's quick to 60, but not fast at all, and the Z06 is just as quick to sixty, but does 202mph. The Tesla would stay with the vette for about 4 seconds and then get smoked. It's also very light, not heavy. 2776 lbs. All their cars are light. It's all below if you are interested.

The 2012 Tesla Model S Performance model has a 416 hp (310 kW) and 443 ft·lb (600 .... 0-60 mph (0–97 km/h), 5.9 sec, 5.4 sec, 4.2 sec. Top speed, 120 mph

That's not near vette fast. Or my Jag f tyoe fast, or really particularly fast at all.  Those numbrers are according to tesla who have been known to use best case. They stopped making the better looking, faster, roadster years ago.

I've had a Z06 so I'm with you on the value of that car and it's brute force and handling for the dollar. Don't like the new one coming out though. Looks like a caddy from behind. The Jag handles nearly as well and very close in speed and quicknesss. Before the c6 I'd never own a vette. Good car, great value, but it is not the Jag.

I'd buy a Tesla, model S.  0-100 in 4.4s, top speed 200 km/hr (I've driven at 170km/hr, I don't need to go any faster than this), 416hp.  Not bad for a little electric car.  Looks a bit cramped though in the photo below...

Sounds like you two might be a fan of the shop Top Gear (UK)?  I have to say I had the burning urge to drive the Bugatti after they raced it against a euro fighter *laughs*.

Being born and raised in the Motor City. I wouldn't even consider a Jag,BMW etc.. I'm an old time Detroit Muscle head..LOL There's hardly a better bang for any buck than a good American made Corvette,,Now that being said, the Euro's do make some nice looking stuff.
