It takes me 10 mins to read the frist text,a little longer. do we need or do we want love?I think we can not disjoin them. This question seems like"do we need bodies or do we need souls?"

Incredible blog Erica I have to agree completely. I remember times in my life where I thought I needed love. Not just wanted it but needed it like you say we need to breath (hey children to young adults view things in more extremes sometimes). Yes I felt anxious and even desperate though not so much depressed and more so saddened. And you're dead on about the referse being true when it no longer is a need but more a desire. And even that desire isn't foremost. That doesn't mean I don't feel less about love and don't still crave that relationship that stops all searching, I still do. I never thought about it but yes the less we think about it the more we can sit back and focus better and chances are obtain that goal. The only one that we must need love from should be ourselves. Once that's accomplished it's much easier to let love find us. I too have an Aunt and Uncle like that. The moment my uncle set eyes on my aunt he knew he was going to marry her and did so not 3 months later. The marriage has seen it's highs and lows but remains steadfastly strong through both. If one is away from the other for any length of time you can actually see it in their personalities. My great grandparents were exactly the same as your uncle and aunt too. Only there was only two weeks between their deaths and my great grandmother's was listed unofficially as a broken heart (it simply stopped beating one evening while she was looking through their wedding album ). I remember as a child wishing that I too could find a love like that. Who knows, perhaps someday I shall. It's in fates hands now. Perhaps there truly are instances of meeting that Yin for our Yan. I truly hope so. Cutencuddlygal.. thank you so much for sharing that story. In this world where so many relationships are failing it's so good to hear that relationships do last and can be that strong.

I enjoyed your description of needing and/or not needing the concept of love. Volumes of books have been written on co-dependence and the need for acceptance. I agree with what you wrote but one should look even deeper. If one "needs" love then what does that love do for that individual's needs? We all know the answer as to what oxygen does...what does that love do for you or me? Does it make us happy? Can anything make one happy or need we make ourselves happy?? How about secure? Financially secure? That will not work for me.... Secure against being lonely? Need I repeat the cliche of "I'd rather be alone lonely than be lonely with someone I do not care about?" What do love give us? Why then do we seek it? PS. FYI, at this time in my personal life I sincerely, and somewhat painfully, miss being in love!

I would like to be loved, because it's great to have someone to hug and kiss you...but then that may not last...or to be completely honets I could be bored and therefore feel that I need love...or I may be vulnerable and depressed and feel that I need to be loved...so either way I don;t know I guess it's just fun to date!!
