So as my blog title suggests I have an interest in generating electricity through solar means. I'm currently employed in the research and development of organic photovoltaics.  In case you're wondering - I'm just a minion.

No millionaire here, but I have semi-serious intentions of starting a company in the future. When I say future, I'm talking about short term and long term goal planning.

Here's what my 3 year plan looks like:

1. Roll current education/experience into Ph.D.  (in progress)  Keep making progress with respect to research/opportunities.

2. Move somewhere warmer.  I've been working this out in my head/planning this since last year, and it's finally starting to come to shape.

3.  Keep working on health.  I've lost 25lbs thus far, and I'm really looking forward to having nice weather to do more of it in.

I'm currently looking at moving into the Vancouver area, and thus my profile reflects that location.

solar is neat it's the storage that makes me wonder what would be best for long term batteries only last so long and tend to take a toll on the enviroment maybe capasitor banks they so got some battery caps out there. It just seems storage is part of the bottle neck to me  but yea one step at a time and the tech is getting there  tough i wonder about the stirling engion that runs from temprature diffrance wich in some cases are eazily obtained and maintained

Oh and because I posted it on another thread, I really want to promote the documentary called Solar Mamas.  It is inspirational beyond belief!

An excellent resource for investigating photovoltaic education (especially if you're interested in installing panels) can be found at pveducation.  You can google the site, no solicitation intentions just educational purpose.

I had thought about using the panels for a greenhouse, I considered it a small enough project to allow me to work through the details, and to enhance my learning.

Something along the same lines as at this solarpvgreenhouse.  (Photo below courtesy of the same site)

My occupation is very hands on, and this would be a delightful way to tinker.  *grins*
