I posted a defense in PianistMBa777’s blog re beards.
The summary of the defense is as follows.
1.Derek Clontz writes parodies of other articles and other concerns.I found the exact article that was quoted from with a disclaimer that said in effect: All facts are made up and all institutions are made up.Everything is fiction meant only for entertainment.
2.Derek’s article was the only thing that was quoted from.
3.The Huffington Post and the Canadian CBC articles were mentioned but not quoted from at all. They were only used as proof that the concerns were real.
4.They, the CBC and Huffington Post, were reporting on a Fort Detrick experiment that happened way back in 1967.
5.Trouble is, Fort Detrick, was only concerned with spreading nasty pathogens from a facility that studied them to the researcher’s families and the surrounding community. That experiment involved spraying extreme concentrations of pathogens on the subjects beard; be that subject a manikin or a volunteer and then, for various situations, seeing if it could be adequately washed off.
6.The hair on a woman’s head, the hairy lower legs on some men, as well as beards; all would have failed that experiment.
7.No general alarm concerning beards back then was sounded as none was necessary. Most of the general populace in not involved with work, recreational, or leisure activities that involve getting sprayed with extreme concentrations of nasty pathogens, either accidentally or on purpose..
Conclusion:Beards and mustaches are safe.Reasonable cleanliness is desirable.Whether one likes beards or mustaches is up to the individual, but there are no grounds for any medical reason to avoid them.

The word I needed was Limerence not Luminance. Both have to do with a kind of glow, but the first has to do with a new romance, the other from a light source.

Don't know if anyone will notice. This blog has been quiet for awhile, but I once had a special lady (special to me) who was a beautician. She asked if she could trim my beard for me. She did so every time she cut my hair. Being fussed over by a lady with whom you are in love, lust, luminance, or just a new romance glow, is always nice.

Well here I am finally, with a few friends who also like beards. Some days working mine gets filthy but isn't that what soap and water is all about?Want to make a fishy purr? You just need to comb and sissor trim my beard nice and slow.I can't tell you ladies how good that feels but when your guy is purring let that be a clue.

I love you guys. I don't know anyone else that gets so worked up over, well, everything. It is the most entertaining part of MM.
Lulu, are you referring to just Hope and me.Well, if so, I’ll accept love in whatever form I find it.
RMac
In fact that's what makes the blogs interesting and amusing.....when folks get worked up!! lolol What good is it if everyone agrees on everything? What can be learned from that?
Now back to the beards! Oh...I forgot. I already yielded on that subject!! *wink* I think you should love the man if you do....even if he's bald....got a little pot belly.....wrinkly knees...or a beard! But I do like Fishy's idea. Grooming activities could be very fun!! :)
Oh me Oh my Hope!!! Where DO you find such delectable nuggets??? I hope I get my shower working pretty soon. Seems I may be in need of a cold one tooooo! *wink* :)))

Your Princess comes in and says, "Lovely LULU... I think Colin has ESCAPED my tangled web! I stayed up all night "COLIN" for him... to no avail! But should I find him... I will stick him with my stiletto as to not escape me capture! I will certainly grab his friend who is with him when I do. You'd be amazed at how skilled I am with stilettos!"
HI RMAC--- I think the thing is for me is "MIS-Information.".... There are people who believe whatever they read on the internet. It simply isn't so. And yes, all credibility is lost. Glad I checked out MAYO, as that was the one thing you hadn't reviewed.
As for women and beards.. I did know one lady that grew facial hair when I was growing up.... (My mother said she had hormonal issues?) Well, then they most likely WANT TO shave it!! I felt very badly for her.. That must be a woman's worst nightmare!! :(
I can tell you when I wore a respirator while doing fire training for my STCW certification in 2010, the hair on my head interfered with the mask... There are PLASTIC straps that attach to your head back. I can only imagine had I had tons of facial hair.. That would have hurt, and I imagine might have interfered with the seal of my mask, BUT... Honestly, the plastic strap in back of head seemed to be more troublesome. I am guessing that's why firefighters wear short hair. It ripped my hair out in back some, even though my hair was tied down! Has NOTHNG to do with GERMS with the military or fire fighters... Has to do with the equipment that goes over the face!.

Hope, Thank you lovely lady. I went through a few of the points and can refute them. Have not gotten to the Mayo Clinic stuff. This may all qualify as useless debate. You remember our blog back and forth conversation re wisdom.
One that pleases me is the abstract that would support requiring women to shave if they are going to wear a mask. It seems scraping the skin is helpful. This only by going by the abstract, of course.
That particular one has links to others that contradict the results. One large study supported not wearing masks as there was no evidence that there was any statistical difference in the success of the surgeries. Again, this only by going by the abstracts, of course. That did not concern itself with beards at all.
Curious, Glad you like well-groomed beards and mustaches. By all means go check out the other blog. All sorts of fun stuff.
Jenknee, No argument with personal preferences. I have a few of my own.
Lulu, Pleased that you like well-groomed facial hair. Cute baby.

When you find Collin, ask him to bring a friend and I will be there with you.

I agree that any part of the body that grows hair could become a nest for growing bacteria. It's all about how clean the person is. I am a bit OCD and a lot ADD which makes it really hard to be OCD and keeping myself clean is a big deal so being with a man who cannot control his hair growth, is a NO NO. I will stick with my teddy bear.
Hope;

SO I CHECKED MRSA--- (BTW.. My youngest has had this TWICE... She has no beard! LOL) Very dangerous!!
Well, when I clicked that link, I amused myself and read it...
But mostly, I found myself amused by the DOCTOR WHO WROTE IT !!
WHY... IS THAT A FULL BEARD HE IS SPORTIN!!! Bwahahahaha
(I'm not bothering to check the other "resources" menitoned as rebuttal to RMAC's claim on the "parody" article. Fact is.. if one resource is botched so badly, I hold nothing serious beyond this. )
MRSA CAN be carried on the beard... and MANY other areas affected by CUTS AND SCRAPES!!! (as well as hairy places like armpits, beards.. Where Do we shave? HAIRY PLACES! ) So it is concluded, it is NOT the beard itself.. MRSA apparently exists in the CUT... NOT the hair..
So be careful... If you DO shave, don't cut yourself.. But from what I know of "bearded men".. they shave far less than "clean shaven" men...
COMMON SENSE? Well EVERYONE---
OBVIOUSLY, we are FULL of bacteria IN and OUT of our bodies..
Be clean, well kempt, take pride in your appearance... Wash your hands regularly.. NEVER, EVER, EVER SHARE RAZORS!! UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES.. HEP, HIV, MRSA... ALL THESE AND MORE CAN BE SPREAD! And if you have facial hair... KEEP IT CLEAN!! and well maintained!! We don't want to know what you had for lunch!! ;)

Now, on with my "PART II" of my um... "research"..
LINE UP GENTLEMEN!!
LET'S SEE IF I GET MONO!! ;)
