I do! I find it a great way to get to know new people, and I also get to see how they think on their feet. Emails are nice too, but when composing, you have all the time in the world to really think about what you're saying, and you can edit before sending it. I find you can tell so much in a very short time from IM'ng. I am however, NOT into sex chat, just like that point to be up front and known. I tend to log on in the morning and stay logged in on the IM, but am not always at the computer, so if you do IM me and don't get a response, I'm not being rude lol. My profile clearly states that I don't respond to those without a photo, and this applies to IM as well. I feel it's only fair, you've seen my photos, and yes they really are current and of me! lol I generally tend to check the profile of who is IM'ng me first, if their profile is hidden or they don't have a photo, I'll admit I tend to click that little red X in the upper right hand corner. Even if the person IM'ng doesn't meet my criteria, I am always open to making new friends and feel that it's really worth it to take a moment and chat. So gentlemen, please feel free to IM me, I'm only a click away! Would love to hear your views on IM'ng too. I enjoy getting different perspectives.

Hi Queenofyourdreams! Geez I don't know about that communal chat room lol! Seems we've got many who don't play well together as is, now how would it be live? The IM on here is very simple, but can have big delays, locks up while you're typing if the other person is also typing, bleeps every time you enter a line of text, has a maximum amount of text you can type before cutting off, and in general is a big pain in the butt lol! Once you've tried other IM's you get to the point that you automatically jump to the alternative IM, but initially I put up with the dysfunction on MM's IM until I get to know the person, then I'll add them to my alternate IM. Good for you that you're having a blast on MM!

Geez Starfinder! What the heck happened to your 2nd post? Now I look like a crazy lady just away to myself lol! Wonder why it got pulled? Know it wasn't you so had to be the Powers to Be huh? It was not offensive in any way, who knows, but sure is odd.

Hi GianFranco4u, I agree it's wonderful actually hearing a person's voice on the phone, allows you to hear emotion in their voice and whether you like the sound of their voice. I take a while before going to the phones so I feel comfortable giving out my number. It's all a way to get to know one another before deciding whether a face to face meeting should take place. Thank you for your post.

Hey thenewman! Thanks for your post, it's always a treat when a male responds, I love getting the male perspective. For safety reasons I like to stay within the MM system initially until I get to know the person, but the IM on here is absolutely pathetic! As you say you can always block them on the other IM's out there, but like you, I've been very lucky too and have not had any trouble. I don't think it's luck, I think it's because we're discerning :)!

Hey Starfinder! Thanks for your post! I enjoy IM'ng too, let's you get a better feel for who the person is, but find MM's IM extremely frustrating and wished they'd make some improvements. Not clear on what your comment meant as far as "So much better"? Maybe you'd be kind enough to explain.

I've gotten out of the habit lately of it, because it starts creeping me out when I see multiple offline messages from the same person, often all left at times when no normal person would still be awake, much less expect anyone else to be so. Even when I run a messenger program, I tend to stay on invisible mode, and to only allow people that are on my friends list to IM me. I don't add complete strangers. I have to already know them somehow, or they'd better include a message with it saying who they are and why they want me to add them.

Hi Devo! Thanks for your post. I agree that MM's IM is greatly lacking, but initially I prefer to remain on MM until I get to know the person, there is much misrepresentation out there.

Hey Sharon! I don't mind your spelling typos even though it it one of my pet peeves lol! Don't know if it's the MM IM system that causes you to not be able to see what text you're typing or whether it's computer related? One other benefit of being a paying Preferred member is that you can initiate IM as well. Don't know if that's really a benefit or not as this IM is antiquated, gets locked up when the other is typing, delays are frequent, etc. It is nice to see who's viewed me, but as you said if they were interested they'd wink, email or IM. Depending on my mood, I'll occasionally initiate contact if someone has a particularly interesting profile. It is such a drag that MM insists on delaying our posts, I too remember when posts were instant and some of the fun we all had being able to respond instantaneously. I truly don't think MM cares whether we're satisfied customers or not, for every one of us who is dissatified, there are 10 to step in, but I still persevere with complaints when something is wrong. Sometimes it's resolved, sometimes it's not lol!

Hi angelsr4me! Was quite surprised to see this really old blog come back, but thanks for resurrecting it. It is a great way to get to know people, just wished MM would improve their IM system :(

As you know Ready, often when we IM, I can't see what I am typing until I press send and it goes in the box above. So if there is a spelling error...no way to correct it. Then only benefit to being a member is one can intiate emails. But if you never do that, then there is no point to purchasing a membership anymore. Until September, there was an additional benefit to buying your membership...your posts on the forums showed up instantly. That feature has been removed...I'm a paying member, getting treated the same as a non-paying member. Oh yeah, I can see who has viewed me, but do I care? If they were interested, they would have written to me and I would have checked out their profiles. MM will only act when they see their profits dimminishing. I paid till March, but after that, I have no reason to be enticed to purchase again. Not when my posts are taking 1 to 2 days like every other non-paying member.

After reading BobbyFisher's complaint about the site's inefficiencies, I decided to post to the Forum where things don't disappear. Under Message Board, MM NEEDS TO FIX THIS SITE. Hoping you'll all take the time to visit the thread and to email MM to complain in hopes of having this site work as it should. I lost a 3rd blog today and thought it best to post on the Forum instead of another blog that may disappear. I feel they should know how unsatisfied we are, we're paying for a service albeit inexpensive, but it doesn't work!!!

NO ! While there are many interesting and worthwhile people who frequent this site - the lack of concern by MM - who seem to just sit back, accept our fees and ignore all complaints and widespread system shortcomings - is maddening. The concept is great, but the execution by MM is sad! (see my Blog - about "I Quit".

Hmmmm? I guess not huh? LOL What's the harm in chatting with a new person, male or female? If it's not good conversation, you can always terminate it right? I love meeting new people, and feel if you're showing as online then you must be open to conversing. But, I've IM'd a few and don't get any response at all. Maybe they're away from their computers as I am often too, or maybe they just don't like my profile/pic or don't like me initiating first contact??? I'm not asking to get married, just a little conversation lol. I don't know the answer, but don't waste too much time wondering anymore. My policy is nothing ventured ... nothing gained. If you want something different, do something different. So, every once in a while I IM and see what happens. The world won't come knocking at your door, you have to do the knocking.
