Following on from the fabulous Olympic games in London we are being treated to some wonderful sport at the Paralympivs.  Magnificent achievements by athletes who have overcome huge adversity in their lives.  Provide inspiration to everyone not just to disabled but to us all that if you want and are willing to work for it then you can achieve the seemingly impossible.
It was truly wonderful to watch Richard Whitehead, a double above the knee amputee, race in the 200m and be in last place as they came round the bend only to move like an express train in the last 50m to take the Gold.  That is just one of the fantastic achievements by these athletes and it is such a shame that this fabulous event is not getting any coverage in N America.  Canada have said they will show the opening ceremony 3WEEKS AFTER the closing ceremony!  USA has one of the largest teams many coming from the ranks of service personnel injured in the line of duty and their reward to be ignored by the TV companies   SHAME on the Executives who think this sport is not worthy of coverage.
Come on USA stand up and celebrate the inclusivity and achievement of all

I was watching a film before the games started titled" The Best of Men." Basically for those who have not seen it about how the Paralympic games came about. The wounded soldiers of WW2 rather than resigning themselves to no future, focussing on keeping themselves fit and active and participating in sport. Then entering a national game whichbecame international. One of the best films I've seen for a long time.

I have also been watching parts of the Paralympics. Really is inspirational as they really have pushed through so many barriers to gain great success. So good to see their achievements. It is a shame that they have not televised this in America as I am sure they would have gained the support of the American nation especially with having such a large team.

Then seeing the achievements of these athletes would show that that attitude needs to change.  They have value they are humans like you and me and to be dismissive of them because we always have done is a miserable attitude.  We should work to change at show that resources invested are worthwhile and gives hope and purpose to all our lives.

The world as a whole, north America in general and the US more specifically has a long history of not investing in what they see no value in.  Subconciously it's far easier to provide welfare than than support, training and resources for success... getting involved means we have to face our own emotional short comings.

Want an example? Haiti.

Haiti has no natural resources, nothing the world wants or needs... it's people are uneducated... it has nothing to give and it is ignored.

Unfortunately, we humans view the wounded, deformed and less able the same way.
