Whilst in Luxor we also visited the Colossi of Memnon. These two statues were massive. Really amazing!

In Aswan we visited a Nubian village. I believe he said it was on elephant Island. Not that there were any elephants but there were rocks in the shape of an elephant. It was great getting to see the village. Our guide was a guy who lived in the village and whose museum and home featured in the lonely planet guide. He was very proud of this and had the review in a plaque in the village. He kept baby crocodiles and this tortoise. We got a tour of the inside of a Nubian house which was his museum. They make good use of the land and the plants. Using the trees to make furniture, baskets, brushes etc etc. They grew mango and dates mainly there.

We also ventured to Kitchener's Botanical gardens which was just beautiful. There were quite a few cats in that garden probably because there were plenty birds. On our way back from the Botanical gardens we passed the tombs of the nobles. I didn't get a chance to do that trip.  There was 140 steps up to reach those tombs. I had already done the Valley of the Kings and wanted to visit the Nubian village instead.

On board our ship we had an Egyptian night where everybody got dressed up in Egyptian attire. It was so much fun. The staff were playing on the drums, there was dancing and games. A really good night. I even got a big surprise when I went into by cabin to find a mummy in my bed.lol

We had an option one afternoon of free time to go to the markets in Aswan but as much as I'd love to have gone you just couldn't do it. The hassle was just to extreme. You would get mobbed and probably robbed.  Apparently one of the other reps from another boat had slapped a pick pocketer the other week. So I chillaxed on the sundeck instead. It was much easier just to buy things on the bus whist on trips than being trapped by a mob.

Yes that was a great holiday. I'd love to return when things settle down a bit over there.

That sounds like so much fun.  A mummy in the bed?  I'll have to remember that one.
