There is anecdotal evidence that sometimes bits of personality get translated along with the donor organ or part.  This is more on the patient to surgeon discussion level.  The patient is mystified on a new facet to her (his) personality and the surgeon says something like, “Yes that seems to sometimes happen, we don’t understand it, but yes that sometimes seems to happen.”   

There are alternate explanations, as always.  Sometimes, after very serious injuries, even though the patient completely recovers, their personality is permanently changed.  No big mystery here, everything we experience affects our personality; sometimes just a little and more rarely sometimes a lot. 

However, back to bits of personality transplanted along with the transplanted part.  There is, or at least was, a little in the literature, else I would not know about it. 

Actually, there is now quite a bit in the literature.  A quick search this evening on the internet found several sources some quoting actual studies.

Hi BeWell – Since hand cells replicate from the hand cells themselves, I am not sure they will be 100% hers.   I am totally outside any semblance of anything I know about, but still that is my understanding.  I am perfectly willing to be wrong.  In any case, it doesn’t matter if her body accepts them, and by that time her immune system will have made peace with them or they will have been long time rejected.   

My daughter does know about this stuff -- I will ask her.

Since I think it takes 7 years or so for all the human cells in one's body to regenerate, those living hands will be 100% hers in 2020! Isn't that a weird thought?   BeWell...;-D
