Don't worry Diana,  There's still time for your dream to come true, your President Obama is working every day to make it happen for you.

Hmmm….well ….even if he’s not perfect….I’m  going to always choose the man that cares about me, over the one that is cold and distant….and doesn’t care about me!

Hello Liv,

The system is being exploited from both sides.  i.e. people that do not need assistance is applying and getting (very little checks and balances) and the politicians are using public assistance as a way to control the voters.  Let me explain just in case you don't quite follow me.  A politician takes office, under this politician over 50% of the voting public begin getting public assistance.  When it's election time, this politician tells the voters...if you don't vote for me you'll no longer get public assistance (your free beer days are over).  Guess who's going to get re-elected (applies to person and party)?  Now apply this to whichever politicians it may fit.  So yes, both ways.  But ultimately, as I'm sure you are aware, the house of cards will fall.

DAK,

I completely follow and understand your point of view. And I totally agree with you. That is exactly what is wrong with the welfarist State, but things are changing - but sadly not in the right direction. And no matter what changes/checks and balances are put in place, they will always be susceptible to exploitation - there are always loopholes - LOOPHOLES. Unless the government makes a law to (for example) prohibit indiscriminate procreation by teenagers, coach potatoes, etc these groups of people will always be a drain on the economy. But we couldn't do that without infringing on the Human Right to procreate!!! We will just be another China.....so our government makes a law that when your youngest child becomes 5 you must go to work! So this single lady decides, when her last child is 4 years old, to get knocked up.....she delivers a brand new baby that ensures the welfare money keeps flowing for the next 5 years and she gets given a bigger house for free for having a larger family...LOL....in the next four years all she has to do is repeat the same activity and just have another baby and on and on it goes until she reaches menopause with retirement age being just round the corner and alas what that person contributed to the economy all her 'working age' life is procreate and procreate....and sadly because these kids never saw their parent go to work, and yet were provided for and because they have not seen a model of what a working family is, they fall into the same track for their future and the cycle gets repeated in their own lives and it just goes on and on! And of course they all get to vote.......so not very hard to guess whom they will be voting for.

Our conservative government have lost popularity right now (I suspect due to the vicious changes/attacks on the benefit system) and people want the Labour (welfarist) party back in the saddle...LOL!

In the UK, the current government is attacking the benefit system blindly! Those who don't qualify or need it are the ones that get it. The new changes will be severe on the disabled and sick who in my humble opinion need it more than anyone else, rather than these groups of procreative parasites.

Sadly our government appears to be lashing out blindly, and desperately - whilst ignoring the bigger leaks in the system that are actually bleeding out our resources....OK....yawn!!!!

Going back to bed...

Liv.

I know Dak!  When I was a little girl I always dreamed of being poor....so I could live in a shack, eat fried Bologna everyday and suffer bad health/quality of life.  If only I hadn't lived in a progressive area with good schools, teachers and role models....my dreams could have come true!!

Lady Di!

You are so funny!!

On a serious note, though, it is sad that people exploit the system. It was designed to help people having a spot of misfortune, whilst they get out of it, but then some people figured they would over-turned what was meant to be a transition to their destination!!

Yeah the system is very unfair at times. I remember whilst at university a friend of mine used to get a £4000 bursary per year. That was money she did not have to pay back. She got that as her parents lived in a council house. However, as my parents owned their house I got nothing. So I worked my weekends away whilst she partied her weekends away as she had no need to work. She wasn't paying her parents bills nor was I paying bills as we were both at uni but the government saw it fit to waste money like that. I made more money working and gained valuable skills to add to my C.V. so thats the plus side.

Sarah :-)

Sarah,

I totally agree with you. For all you know she may still be partying away rather than getting a proper job after graduation! At least, let's give her credit for going to uni! Most council estate kids don't go to university, you know. They just follow in the footsteps of their parents, and get knocked up at 16 to get a council house of their own. The rest of us work very hard to keep them in warm cozy accommodation.

Looks like there is quite the reward for being poor.  So if the tax system rewards people for being poor, then why work and be ambitious?  Here's to everyone being poor and a easier life...a life of free beer!!!  Come on, everyone drink the coolaid with me while we sing Kumbaya.
