Everything we do is a consequence of our neuroses. This is not my idea, but psychoanalysts. :)
No one is safe from the bad mood and even a very bad mood and depression. And many of us have been hurt by previous relationship or the loneliness. But.
I would advise many people, especially men, before looking for a partner to relax, clean your psychological problems and enjoy the new experience. Even if nothing happened with that girl, you'll be lucky with the other.
Believe me, it's so hard to look at a man who decided that he urgently needs to get married and turns into a hysterical when you politely explained to him that you're not his perfect match.

Thank you, Hoping, for your thoughts! It's remarkable that you've mentioned your mom. Mothers could be a cause of girls' neuroses. But how we use those neuroses depend only on us. As for me, I prefer to read books of Freud, Jung or Hemingway than to explore their lives. God bless them all and the quality literature products :-))))))

FACT IS: Most "psychologists" who make well known names for themselves as Freud and Jung.. Well.. they were "fruit-loops" themselves! (Takes one to know one!)
As a child, JUNG had such neurosis and "emotional issues" at one point his parents were going to check him for epilepsy.. Turns out he was "fake fainting" so he did not have to go to school which he did not enjoy because he was such an introvert and lacked socialization skills.
He became friends with FREUD at one point.. but then their different positions on matters of the mind, religion etc.. caused a rift. At one point JUNG became so nasty he even retaliated against FREUD and rumored he was sleeping with his own sister in law.. THIS, coming from a man who had basically an "open marriage" and several women...
FREUD actually appeared to be more "normal" enjoying high school, etc... but even he held his own issues... He was an open cocaine user boasting about it's ability to help the mind!! LOL... However, he accomplished much in his life, as did JUNG, despite the controversy surrounding both their lives. FREUD was also a Jew who escaped NAZISM.. and had himself "morphined out" for an assisted suicide... (with his daughters permission OF COURSE!) I think it prudent anytime anyone wants to commit suicide to get their children's permission.. Don't you? LOLOL..
YES.. Just as writers like EARNEST HEMINGWAY... (depressed alcoholic who also committed suicide... only by shooting himself.. MY preference would be the morphine.. HeeHee) My point? There are many successful and talented individuals who share their gifts in our lives..
But when it comes to analyzing why I do the things I do... It's relatively simple and boils down to a little common sense.. and a whole lot of self awareness.. It doesn't take EINSTEIN, FREUD, JUNG or anyone else's assessment to figure out I suffer from low self esteem at times due to several events in my life, one of which my mom always teasing me I was "so ugly only a mother could love it!" when I was little (and actually.. I WAS!! LOL) But my point is. even though she was "teasing"... that coupled with a little girl who felt ostracized by peers because I wasn't allowed to recite our Pledge of Allegiance or participate in parties, holidays, birthdays etc.... Well.. You end up with a grown woman who is still working on being a better me... (um.. minus mom! LOL) Because good self esteem is imperative to functioning in a healthy manner and engaging in healthy relationships.
Personally.. I think we are all off our rocker.... Just some of us is rocking in different neighborhoods.. ;)
PS.. I prefer the term "UNIQUE INDIVIDUAL" over "NEUROTIC LOON" any day... NO?
LOL LAUGHING and RMAC...

Dear Laughing Cloud........I like that name, by the way..
The opinions of psychoanalists have no scientific qualifications. As you mention Horney says one thing and Freud says another. This Dicotemy alone is Proof of such. Keep in mind that most, if not all, psycho "experts" are whaco to begin with, as sane level minded people are fully aware of such. Although it is interesting to hear what psychoanalists have to say, I Caution you to do so from a Safe Distance, for they are Crafty in Skills to make a very lucrative living while you lay on their " couch ". You don't need that, since I believe your I.Q. is way above room temperature.
Yours Spiritually, Silverlion.

It depends on who is saying. Horney says one thing and Freud says the other, but if there is any kind of internal conflict, here neurosis is. If we mean by conflict the fight of the instincts and culture, all of our behavior is a neurosis. In other case, such as the struggle between love and desire for power, this could affect everything we do.

Are they (psychoanalysts) saying we all have neuroses and they affect everything we do; or are they saying that if we have neuroses they affect everything we do?
