Hello all.. I hope the mommies here had a great Mothers Day.
Once while at a boutique grocery store my father noticed I was looking wistfully at ladies shopping. He said, " Don't be jealous. These women are getting their A$$es kicked in this neighborhood " Now granted I came from a good family with a wonderful upbringing. But he was referring to the ladies that lived in the Galleria area. I didn't really think much of it because I wasn't jealous.
Fast forward to the Thursday before Mother's Day. There's a lady I work with that has an impeccable sense of style. She's recently married and has a lovely designer home. We sat in her car and chatted. I didn't realize that she didn't have children. She shared that she always wanted them but married too late. She then told me that she wished he had a dog, but her husband didn't like them. The conversation then revealed that he did have kids. I thought ,"my goodness. What a jerk!". He had a family before her and then denied her a dog?!
After the event, I was more than happy to walk to my car, not as expensive as hers, and drive to the home I built, smaller than hers. There my son and new puppy were waiting.
Lesson learned... Be grateful for what you have in the time you have it. You never know what others are putting up with to " live in the house on the hill"

I have alway agreed with at least one of the Ten Commandments ......not because some greater powers said so... but as matter of mental health. Not to covet your neighbors Wife/Husband nor their house nor ox nor donkey they ride. Envy blackens the heart and keeps us from our own self enlightenment. Do we look into another's mirror and see a image of happiness that is blurred in perceptions?

There is always two sides to every story though. Did she just bring up the topic I'd like to have a dog to which he replied I don't want to have a dog. To which she conveyed to you as not being allowed a dog? Or did she convey her feelings why a dog would mean so much to her? Did he give any valid reasons why he did not want a dog? Marriage is all about compromise. It seems people don't communicate enough before they get married and this is what leads to miss matches. I like pets, I don't like pets, I want children, I don't want children, I want to live in Australia, I don't want to live there, I want my child to be Christian, vegetarian, privately educated as opposed to no I don't etc etc All important questions to be discussed before people should say I do.

He wouldn't let her have a dog???? At my age now--heck at any age I've ever been--if a man I was about to marry said "NO DOG," I'd dump him faster than my garbage collection service dumps the contents of my dumpster into it's collection truck. I'd love a luxurious lifestyle, but I'd never ever pay for it by giving up things I love that my heart could never do without and still remain whole.
