I am finding that long distance relationships are almost impossible to manage. It seems that over time the intrigue is lost and not having the choice of spontaneity gets to be a hassle ..soon overwhelming the relationship.

I have had a strange thing happen lately.¿ I have had a few guys write me from the east coast and I am on the west coast.¿ I do not mind chatting but tell them its impossible to know if there is a connection with someone till you met.¿ I have had 4 of them seem to think that there was something serious.¿ I am sorry but I do not see how you¿ can know if you have feelings with someone after 2 emails and a few instant messages.¿ One says they love me and one wants to relocate??? Has this happened to others?¿ Am I just too nice?¿ I am layed back and love to talk with others and not judgemental but this is kind of crazy to me.¿ I have not met any....so ? if any chemistry.¿ Its kind of freaking me out.¿ I don't feel like I am misleading since I say over and over that we have to meet to know if there is a connection.....but they keep saying love is all thats needed and distance does not matter.¿ Though none will answer when I ask if they have had long distance relationships....always distance does not matter with love.......eeeekkkkkk

I certainly agree with this although there are many on this site who claim they'll travel anywhere to find the love of their life. My guess is the haven't been in many LDRs.
How long does it take to fall in love. My guess is six months minimum and you have to spend a lot of non quality time together.
If a relationship is initiated with sex then it will end when the lust wears off. It takes time to establish the friendship that will sustain a relationship through the good and the bad times.
Spontaneity is essential, proximity is a neccesity.
