Dear God,

I know some believe if You were allowed in schools, You could have prevented the recent shooting at a grade school of 20 children.  But, could You please tell me how many child molestations You prevented in churches?

Respectfully,

~Diana

I believe as most "Christians" believe.. God does not involve Himself in the day to day "lessons" of life... He granted us FREEDOM to choose... Any child molester chose that path one way or the other.. And most people are wise enough to know.. Check out your local day cares and parks people.. filled with pedophiles! They use it for a "guise"....

This young man ***CHOSE to take others' lives and leave devastation in his wake...

Now I am not big on knowing all this stuff.. I am an admittedly horrible Christian..... But, the bible states something about when man sins against God, we sin against one another..

This man's sin hurt the entire World.....

***FOOT NOTE!!! (By the Author.... Um.. That's ME people!! LOL) If I am incorrct on my reference of God / Bible etc... Feel FREE to note it.. But know that I in no way am ever claiming **FACTUAL without a quote of scripture.. which I did not refer..  Therefore.. merely MY interpretation...

Now, in saying this... I do NOT feel all should hold my beliefs what so ever... For me, I think you could worship a trash can or an ashtray if you wanted... Killing innocent lives is still wrong.... And I care not if this is done with a pencil sharpener, or a bomb made of Acetone and Muratic Acid...

or an assault weapon...

IT'S STILL SICK... :((((((((

Our Lovely Lady DI...

I am sad.... And I "get" your thought on SAVING ONE LIFE...

BUT... DRUNK DRIVING kills FARRRR more.. Do we abolish alcohol now? WHO CARES HOW MANY USE ALCOHOL *RESPONSIBLY... Let's take away the Cabernet and the Chocolate Martinis... Because some people don't know how to use responsibly.. I mean.. Alcohol isn't "really" necessary is it? So what if a few members of society enjoy "playing" with it...

See DI, the issue for me is this...

WHERE DO WE STOP?

Do we ban McDonalds now B/C HEART DISEASE kills over 500,000 people a year???????? Fatal SHARK ATTACKS were at an all time high in 2011.. NO MORE BEACH PEOPLE!!

No Lady DI... The "sick" in the world will just use other measures to commense their devatstation! Who's to say this individual would not have decided a BOMB in the school killing HUNDREDS would be better than an assault rifle?

My point? When we want to do something DI.. WE DO IT.. I wanted sex as a teen.. Didn't matter if I was cramped in a Chevette with a hole in the floor, in the back of a SAAB, on the sand at the beach with sand going up my heiny, or if I was in my parents bed when they were away... (Yes, all true stories!)

Point is...

You don't stop a horny teenager on a mission..

And you aren't going to stop a sick individual hell bent on ruining a bunch of lives!

♥♥♥ It is a sad moment in time when little innocent lives are so viciously taken. There simply is not, nor will there ever be, an explanation for something so heinous to occur. I am just reading of this horrific tragedy and just hours ago I was in a Catholic Cathedral praying for my own children's lives, though I am admittedly not Catholic. (I feel God hears regardless of religious preference. ) Tomorrow I will head back to the same spot and pray more fervently for those who have lost what they held most precious in their lives. GOD BLESS ALL THOSE SHAKEN BY THIS TRAGEDY AND MAY HE COMFORT THOSE IN THEIR SORROW.. ♥♥♥

~Hope~...Times are definitely changing. I can't imagine what is eating at the country's youth. Obama was right when he said there has been too many of these over the past few years. I don't think additional gun laws will help. Any disgruntled or psychotic person will figure out alternate ways to accomplish their mission of evil...as far as schools go, All I can think of as a solution , is to have a uniformed police man at every school across America. And I think it would also send a message to very young people that Police are good and that the badge is something to be respected and honored. Every little boys dream...Policeman or Fireman...put them in the schools full time. Deter kooks from getting in and instilling good behaviour in young children.

Gotta ditto that.

Well Hello there Ms. Lady DI!! Been a while.. I see you have been busy in my former neck of the woods! Hope the weather treated you well! :))))

Well, as you can imagine, I have been very saddened by this tragedy and while I can't state the answer to total elimination of these heinous crimes, I do not feel taking assault weapons away is the answer. Here's why...

FACTS:

In 2010, CARS / ACCIDENTS IN VEHICLES COSTS 32,885 LIVES... Of the almost 33,000, 31% (10,228) people died due to ALCOHOL related deaths. We aren't taking people's cars or licenses away until AFTER they commit the crime. In the United States of America one is innocent until proven guilty. Do we take knives away from society since death by knife is much more close and personal? I've heard of "angry housewives" stabbing a husband anywhere from 30 to a hundred times. That is beyond any comprehension! Now my ridiculous point is this...

GUNS DON'T KILL PEOPLE... PEOPLE, KILL PEOPLE....

DI, we simply MUST count the PERSON responsible for their actions, not the weapon. As FISHY stated so clearly, (HI FISHY!!!) Newtown is a small town, as is Columbine. Nobody can foresee where / when these things are going to happen.

I am going to work on something and will be back.. But I wanted to say HELLO to you Lady DI, as well as FISHY and WORLDMIND and I know this takes many hours to post.

Too many sad days!!!  The Nation weeps....but will it do anything???  If not now…when?  Year after year, our citizens, our policemen….our children are slaughtered by these horrendously lethal weapons.  If these were terrorist acts, the country would demand action to stop it.  It’s an outrage that we do nothing….and make no mistake…it will happen again!  Is this the price we pay for the so called freedom...for almost anyone…. to obtain a military style assault weapon and piles of bullets?  Is this really a good…or free society when you can’t even be sure your child is safe at their desk?  Are we really going to tell ourselves that there is nothing we can do???

I know we already had a vigorous conversation here on a blog about gun control....and not too terribly long ago either, after another mass murder event.  I don't even want to think or talk about it!  I just become too agitated!!  Even the lowest animal knows 'the' most important job is to protect your babies.  Why don’t Americans know this?

This whole thing is so profoundly tragic.  My heart is just broken for the victims….the mothers…the fathers, brothers, sisters….the Sandy Hook community….for all of us.

-- Diana3316 – Yes I know.  It is too hard to bear.  I expect something will be done.  I hope something will be done.  There are obvious things that can be done.  I hope enough of the right things will be done.

Fishy~

I know you didn't mean it, but it is wrong to suggest someone should go murder a politician.

The problem is that it's really, really hard to control crazy people!!  And these crazy people seem to want to shoot people with military style weapons.  Most of them probably don't even know how to shoot.  But with these weapons.... they just point and spray.....and 27 are DEAD!!

Such a horrific thing to happen. Such a tragedy. I feel soo sorry for all those involved. Those poor children, the teachers, the families...

Many years ago in Scotland a crazed gunman open fired upon a class of young children in a primary school in Dunblane. The gunman killed 16 children and the teacher. I must of been around 10 years olds at the time in a different primary in a different part of Scotland. After that event all schools were locked. However even despite that measure it may not stop people forcing their way through.

Such events have such a devastating impact on communities. Such a terrible shame.

I hope measures can be put in places to improve safety not just for schools but for society as a whole.

Hi SARAH....

I dislike how we miss some posts due to "non-paying".... Just saw this....

SARAH, I had not heard of the Scotland incident, but evil sickness does not only encompass America for sure. Many heinous crimes from other areas of the world. Wasn't Jack the Ripper from London?

There simply MUST be measures taken to address this issue. I know how you feel regarding gun control, (I pay attention!) But SARAH, I am telling everyone right now....

If we choose to take guns away from the good people, the ONLY ones who will have them will be the bad. We will NEVER win in taking away guns from the wrong people, therefore we had better ensure the right ones continue to bear arms!

Good ole Albert had it right!

FRANCIE.... :(

It's amazing how one family / country / world .. tragedy .. can affect soooooo many individuals who could not be more "unrelated." The human spirit of "grief."

I was driving from Atlanta airport to South Carolina today and was listening to talk radio. Obviously people have differing views on HOW and WHY this happend... Too many guns, wrong people with them, mental issues etc...

BUT, I think we can all agree on one thing..

This was a senseless tragedy and we need to take matters into our hands and ensure we keep EVERY BABY SAFE!!! My ex and I moved out of Chicago area before our son started school long ago. One major reason was due to his having to go through metal detectors. The violence was horrible!!

After hearing some views today, I have determined I like VOYAGERS thoughts on POLICE being on every campus. I do not feel ONE COP is enough however. (Too many entry points and not enough of a threat with one armed servant.)

I do not feel teachers should carry guns though. (That was discussed as well.) I feel that might be a disaster waiting to happen!! Teachers become teachers B/C they love children and teaching and THAT is their way of making a huge difference in society. I don't know of many teachers who are heavy "gun toters" and when on the line, people facing these matters serve all involved most effectively if they are trained professionals in VIOLENCE and PANIC MODE!! (Not to say many techers couldn't shoot, and GOD BLESS the awesome teacher I understand hid her classroom in a bathrom and she could not fit, so she locked them in without her!! ...  BUT WE NEED MORE POLICE!!! I have a grand idea! Let's take some of the people on welfare and train them to "police" school grounds. We can train them, drug test them, give them jobs and PAY THEM FOR THEIR SERVICE VERSUS A HAND OUT! They feel better about themselves and show their children what upstanding role models they are! Additonally, I know some may think.. "Many of them are criminals." Well, let me tell you what I did long ago.

I had a group of 8 children I watched after school. Only 2 were mine. I was pregnant and too tired to walk to the corner of the street to get them. I had severe vericose vein problems, so I had them WALK home, as there were crossing guards etc... and it was only one line of a block. Anyway, my BFF asked me one day.. ."I see your kids' line every day GF. All the moms are talking about it because we see them every day walking home. I am amazed at how straight that line is, but I have to know.... HOW IS IT YOU GOT AARON TO BE THE LEADER! Everybody who knows that little one is astounded!"

I said, "Karen, let me tell you something about human nature. Aaron is a good kid, just very rambunctious and can't stay focused. I took him aside a few weeks ago and told him I needed his help. I sat with him and told him I was concerned about Ashlynn being at the back of the line and the line wasn't straight and she was hit by a kid on his bike. The line was a complete mess and bikers couldn't get around! I told him I needed someone to be IN CHARGE and to stay at the front of the line and WATCH everyone and to have Ash right behind him where I knew she was safe! (She was the baby of group.) You should have seen his eyes light up when he saw I NEEDED help and I chose to select him for the deed!! See, sometimes all a person needs to be able to accomplish something really important is for someone to stand up and say, "I need this from you. Can you do this for me? Aarons self-esteem has sky-rocketed now and guess what? He is even trying harder in school. He feels important now, so getting in trouble is NOT the kind of attention he is seeking!"

That's psycology 101 people! LOL... Give the people a "purpose" to work and their attitude and self-esteem will change... Who wouldn't feel badly if they felt they served no purpose? Run background checks, make sure they aren't molesters, drug dealers etc... train them as security officers to work with the police on campus and take their free hand out away! Put them to work keeping our precious babies safe! WHAT COULD BE MORE IMPORTANT!

Sadly, when we don't have enough "police power", this just goes to show the state of our great nation the longer we continue cutting our military...

Well, those are some of my thoughts Ladies and Gents.. It was an emotional drive home but I would like to say this as well..

We have people being nasty to each other on these blogs etc. and my heart is heavy today... Is it "really" that difficult to put aside one's differences and quit being nasty and start joining forces on what we can do to place effort in making the world a better place, not fight and call people names? I think everyone has something substantial to offer for ideas and right now as my little bonde brain types these words, we have children who are crying themselves to sleep, forever "haunted" by images of horrific violence and the loss of their classmates...

Just a thought....

((((HI RAY)))).. Just a Litl Princess huggin you back... Been too choked up today after all that talk radio.. :(

Hope, I was driving down the highway when I heard about this. I was heart sick, I can't even imagine the pain this is going to cause. My heart can't stand certain things and this tops the list. I can't stand it when our Babies are hurt. It is so hard for me to put into words how I feel. But my Prayers are with the Parents, Grand Parents,Brothers, Sisters, Husbands and Wives everyone who has to deal with this tragedy. Also the kids who saw this happen,, Oh My God !!
