More political theater.  Just when the Pubs thought the curtain had come down the Dems release the CIA Report.... in magic it's called misdirection.  Then the Pubs pass a trillion dollar spending bill that seems to fund both Obamacare as well as Amnesty... no need to head to NYC to catch a Broadway show.

Welcome back, you've been gone for a while.  I suspect you weren't taking a crash course in Accounting 101 since the concept of surpluses and deficits continues to elude you.

I'll try to keep this simple.. when the Fed receives more in Revenue than it Spends we have a Budget Surplus.  When the Fed Spends more than it receives in Revenue we have a Budget Deficit .  The last time we had a Budget Surplus was during the Clinton Administration.  The Social Security Fund had the Surplus because the money paid into the Fund was greater than the money paid out in benefits.  When this happens the Social Security Fund is required by law to buy Treasuries... the result was a rare occurence when we had a Budget Surplus but our total Debt increased.  Hope that didn't add to your confusion.

We deport illegals who have a criminal record.  Some ot them have been deported 5 or more times.  What do you make of that?

The House Intelligence Committee report was released with little fanfare on the Friday before Thanksgiving.  Discrediting a series of allegations hinting at dark conspiracies, the two-year investigation determined there was no intelligence failure, no delay in sending a CIA rescue team, no missed opportunity for a military rescue, and no evidence the CIA was covertly shipping arms from Libya to Syria.

Millions of dollars….hours and hours of wasted congressional time has finally determined the whole “scandal” was fake through and through!  When will the American people tire of being played by Fox “News”????

PS:  This was the seventh investigation of the incident!  The eighth Benghazi investigation is being carried out by a House Select Committee appointed in May.

The Stevens family must be so delighted... and just in time for the Holidays.

This is an exiteing time, after that Dem defeat. Just, mildly shocked, and wanting to finally see how better, the Rep's can do, beyond the economy, today. Let's see how diplomatic, Obama can be; dealing with the Rep. push, of their agenda. There will be few suckups on the Dem side, if the aisle crossing is one-way. America is happier with a workable wage; at least 5 C-Notes/week. We should let our fighting men, rest for 10 years. MONITOR the borders(We have 2).

With 1/2 the world in recession, we are expanding, somewhat.

I guess, We'll get CRUZZZZZZ'd, Again! :)LV1(:

It's a common myth that ostriches bury their heads in the sand.  There is no no known evidence, visible or anecdotal, to support this myth.  You, however, have exhibited behavior similar to that associated with ostriches but I'm glad you extracted your head long enough to see which way the herd was facing.

Let's be clear

What is #1 with people, generally, is family, keeping the bills paid, and having a stabile existance. In 2009, all of those foundations were bombed. Did JR Bush, and his Cabinet learn from the Reagan era, about controling the  Financial Market? Tying mortgage loans, with junk derivatives, is a sure loser, rationally. This World Depressing downturn had more players above Jr. Someone drained the world, of alot of money, gold, etc. Business's shuttered in 2009. Benigans-Gone with the wind. People living from hand to mouth, had nothing in the hand, till 2012. The Middle Class shrunk, to a small existance. If the Federal Gov't followed the Rep. way, we would still be in a depressed economy. America breathe's much easier, opposed to what Obama inherited, in 2009. New business's have opened, and are doing quite well. All of this subtrifuge, does not innundate the fact; We're doing better than the rest of the world. Germany is in recession. That's a biggie. Manufactoring is expanding, somewhat. There are infrastructure expansions happening in Urban Communities( first to stop in a recession). These are Anchor Stores. America is able to influence the Oil Market( $86/barrel), and Natural Gas. The Rep's are a comedy show, for the world. America has adapted, survived, and changed the way they do business. If the Rep's had a better idea, for better growth, Why are they keeping it secret? Sorry; I have to see substance, with the diatribe. Is Mc Connell going to suddenly want to cross the aisle, if he climbs to Speaker of the House? That 3.8%GDP, has been up to 4.2%, in some months.

So, Obama has played over 200 golf games. Sheese...He's bombing in the Levant, wrestleing with Putin, and Directing a Country. He's not ahead of Bush Jr., on vacations/hideouts. He's jus' Chillin' :)LV1(:

Don't fret Diana.... everyone who believes that Obama was remotely responsible for any of this will be voting Democrat.  His approval rating among Blacks and Dems is still in the high 80's while his overall rating is still in the low 40's.  Simple math will yield that his rating among those who aren't black or Dems has to be close to zero.

I have no idea what's going to happen tonight but if you watch the returns make sure you have some tissues close by.  On a positive note the results won't make a bit of difference.

That may be true Roc…..but don’t you think it’s time we stop electing “crazy”???  What kind of policy do you think we can possibly have when our elected officials play off and even encourage our lowest basic instincts?  Just one recent example:  The New Jersey debacle of how a heroic nurse returning from West Africa was held in a tent for 3 three days outside of a hospital and then released.  A tent????  Chris Christy said he considered his policy decision for a day!

It seems we have two choices in this election.  Are we pro confusion, misinformation and irrational PANIC….or are we pro scientific evidence, rational thinking and decision making?  Do we want our policies set on the basis of emotions….on the basis of fear?  Or do we want our policies developed and set based on fact, science and critical thinking?  I know what I want and expect from our leaders!

I would like a clear, transparent, Foreign Policy Statement, from the Republicans. I know, Defence Spending abroad would be a hot bed issue, with the Tea Party. Truely, the US Soldier babysat tribes, late in the Iraq War. Why should we want to revisit that Bridge to Nowhere. You can bet, Assad is funding the Levant, and barrel bombing Syrian Citizens. I've indicated before, Russia has a large hand in this tragedy. They make money in arms, with all Islamic factions.

Putin is playing a good game of Chess. That Levant Territory stretches through Syria, to Lebanon. The Russians have a large presense, along the northern Syrian border. We are bombing ISIS, who grow in numbers, and can get weaponry, easily, from the Russians. The Russians drenched aggression to Assad, By the U.S, and a few allies.  Russia's Islamic Militant Army.

Now, this Nurse in Mass., defying quarantine, is getting push in the news. She was interviewed on NPR, today. She takes reserve, on the new rules; the Ebola, independent martial law(quarantine). She moniters her temperature, many times daily, and wants her 5th amendment right of liberty upheld. So, we have the threat of her getting sick in 21 days, with her negative blood test(Could change), and the CDC, not taking chances.

Obama called for the workers coming back from the killing Ebola fields, not to be shunned . Someone with sense,to fight a plague, has to get near death. Relationships have ceased, after these workers returned to the U.S.

I wasn't able to verify this Letter to the Editor but I was able to verify that the 60 day quarantine is correct according to the Protocol for Importing Equine from Africa and several other countries on the USDA website.

Editor, Lewiston Morning Tribune:

If I wish to import a horse into the United States from Liberia or any African country other than Morocco, the horse needs to undergo a 60 day quarantine period at a USDA approved quarantine facility prior to mingling with the general population of horses in this country. Africa has a disease called African Horse Sickness that does not exist in the US; this is the way we have kept it out of this country. African Horse Sickness does not cause disease in people, only horses; our government has determined that it would be devastating to the US horse industry if it were to come here.

The United States (and virtually all other countries) require a myriad of tests and often quarantine prior to bringing in a foreign animal.

I can’t legally cross state lines in the United States with a horse or cow without a health certificate signed by a USDA accredited veterinarian stating that the animal has been inspected and found free of infectious disease. In most cases blood tests are also required. In fact I can’t legally cross the Snake River and ride my horse in Idaho without a health certificate and a negative blood test for Equine Infectious Anemia.

I’m not complaining; the United States of America, the States of Idaho and Washington as well as the other 48 states take the health of our livestock very seriously, and we have a very good record at keeping foreign animal diseases out of our country. I am happy to do my part to maintain biosecurity in our animal population.

If I am a resident of Liberia incubating Ebola, to enter the United States all I need to do is present a valid visa, and lie when asked if I have been exposed to Ebola. Within hours (no quarantine required) I can be walking the streets of any city in the United States.

I feel very fortunate to live in a country that values our animals so highly.

David A. Rustebakke, DVM

Here is an e-mail sent to Clarence Page of the Chicago Tribune after an article he  published concerning a name change for the Washington  Redskins.

Dear Mr. Page...

I always love your articles and I generally agree with them. I would suggest, as in an email I received, they change the name to the "Foreskins" to better

represent  their community, paying tribute to the dick heads in Congress.

I agree with our Native American population. I am highly insulted by the racially charged name of the Washington Redskins. One might argue that to name

a professional  football team after Native Americans would exalt them as fine warriors, but nay, nay. We must  be careful not to offend, and in the spirit of

political correctness and courtesy, we must move forward.

Let's ditch the Kansas City Chiefs, the Atlanta  Braves and the Cleveland Indians.  If your shorts are in a wad because of the reference the name Redskins

makes  to skin color, then we need to  get rid of the Cleveland Browns.

The Carolina Panthers obviously were named to keep the memory of militant Blacks from the 60's alive. Gone. It's offensive to us white folk.

The New York Yankees offend the Southern population. Do you see a team named for the Confederacy?  No!  There is no room for any reference to that

tragic war that  cost this country so many young men's lives.

I am also offended by the blatant references to the Catholic religion among our sports team names.  Totally inappropriate to have the New Orleans Saints,

the Los  Angeles Angels or the San Diego Padres. And of course the Los Angeles Dodgers is totally offensive to our taxation system.

Then there are the team names that glorify criminals who raped and pillaged. We are talking about the horrible Oakland Raiders, the Minnesota Vikings,

the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Pittsburgh Pirates!

Now, let us address those teams that clearly send the wrong message to our children.  The San Diego Chargers promote irresponsible fighting or even

spending habits.   Wrong message to our children.

The New York Giants and the San Francisco Giants promote obesity, a growing childhood epidemic. Wrong message to our children.

The Cincinnati Reds promote downers/barbiturates. Wrong message to our children.

The Milwaukee Brewers. Well that goes without saying. Another wrong message to our children.

So, there you have it, Mr. Page.  We need to support any legislation that comes out to rectify this travesty, because the government will likely become

involved with this issue, as they should.  Just the kind of thing our do-nothing Congress needs to keep busy.

As a diehard Oregon State fan, my wife and I, with all of this in mind, suggest it might also make some sense to change the name of the Oregon State

women's athletic teams to something other than "the Beavers."

Three contractors are bidding to fix a broken fence at the White House.

One is from Chicago, another is from Kentucky, and the third is from New Orleans.

All three go with a White House official to examine the fence.

The New Orleans contractor takes out a tape measure and does some measuring, then works some figures with a pencil.
"Well," he says, "I figure the job will run about $9,000.  That's $4,000 for materials, $4,000 for my crew and $1,000 profit for me."

The Kentucky contractor  also does some measuring and figuring, then says, "I can do this job for $7,000.  That's $3,000 for materials, $3,000 for my crew and $1,000 profit for me."

The Chicago contractor  doesn't measure or figure, but leans over to the White House official and  whispers, "$27,000."  The official, incredulous, says, "You didn't even measure like the other guys. How did you come up with such a high figure?"

"The Chicago contractor whispers back, "$10,000 for me, $10,000 for you, and we hire the guy from Kentucky to fix the fence."

"Done!" replies the government official.

And that, my friends, is how the Government Stimulus plan worked.
