Reality can be stranger than fiction. I recently meet a man on one of the many dating sites. Its a well know site. We,re sending emails back and forth. Exchanging information. He's widowed with a 13 year old son, no family to speak of. We don?t meet because he on his way to africa to buy machinery for his business with his son. He gives me his phone number from africa, which i checked the country code. suddenly he loves me, suspect ,... very. Then he asked how much money do you you have , could I send him 2 to 4 thousand dollar, i ask what for ? did bells ring , imagine, was i shocked, very?, he explains his son is very sad, with his mother gone and him not able to use is credits cards, he see a few cultural things he wants to buy for his son. he?s in Africa and can?t miss out on all he sees, i could go on with more but will spare you. Just wishing that more sites should offer blogs. I would have posted a big looser sign in his blog if it was available. Just leaves a bad taste. I kindly read him the rules, he?s supposed to be a business man and did not know not leave your country with out knowing what currency is accepted. The long and short of this experience. I learn not let things like this tarnish all the good men i have met. why do men and women bring the love word so fast into the mix. It saddens me. Has anyone experience this kind of behavior? Darla

Dcpehold, What you most likely encountered was a scammer. They're usually from Nigeria or Russia, and post other people's pictures (usually ripped off of modeling sites) on dating sites, play on other's people's desire to be loved, and sooner or later, hit that person up for money. There's a whole thread on it in the forum section under "messageboard" called "Stuck in Africa scam," and it seems like everyone in here has encountered one of them at least once.

I'm on a couple of other dating sites. I came to this site, not searching for a millionaire, but hoping to find someone on my financial level. As it turns out, this site is a joke and lots of the men are into superficial women or don't want to date black women openly. One of the biggest turnoffs for me on any site is someone asking me am I rich. No I'm not yet but I'm about 3.5 years from it. Regardless, it's a major turnoff! I've been through some trying relationships in my younger days, but thank God I was never stupid enough to give a man money.
